SEPTEMBER, THE MONTH OF LASTING JOURNEYS September is a special month for those who love to travel. The summer crowds fade away, the air turns crisp, and destinations reveal themselves at a more authentic pace. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the sea without the August rush, wander through art cities in quiet, or lose yourself in villages and countryside scented with the harvest. In this issue, we take you along late-summer and early-autumn routes: from Italy’s still-sunlit coasts to the lively streets of Istanbul, from Tanzania’s wild landscapes to the gentle hills of the Castelli Romani. But travelling in September is not only about places—it’s also an opportunity to listen to yourself. That’s why we’ve devoted space to wellness, sharing countryside spa experiences where nature becomes part of self-care, and offering mindfulness tips to turn the return to city life into a moment of awareness rather than stress. Every journey is, in the end, a balance: between discovery and slowness, between excitement and introspection, between the outer world and the inner one. September reminds us of this with its softer light and days that invite us to slow down. This issue is our invitation to set off—or to pause—with the same curiosity, the same breath. Because the journeys that last are the ones that change us, even just a little.

EN. Istanbul is not just a city you visit; it’s one you cross, like a bridge between eras and cultures, where every street seems to lead to a different continent. Departing from Italy, the journey begins even before landing, with the prospect of arriving in a metropolis spread over two continents, where Europe and Asia face each other across the Bosphorus. Once on the ground, it’s impossible not to be struck by the vastness of this city, which, although not the capital of Turkey, was the beating heart of both the Byzantine and Ottoman empires, and today remains a crossroads of peoples, trade, and ways of life. September and October are ideal months to visit: the weather is mild, the days are still bright, and the summer crowds have thinned. Direct flights from Italy are frequent, serving both international airports: Istanbul Airport, on the European side, and Sabiha Gökçen, on the Asian side. Before setting off, it’s worth noting that currency exchange is more favourable in the city at local bank ATMs, such as Halkbank, rather than at the airport. Purchasing an Istanbulkart upon arrival makes it easy to get around on trams, metro, buses, ferries, and even urban cable cars. First impressions of Istanbul often come from the Sultanahmet district, the historic heart of the city. Here, the majestic Hagia Sophia, with its domes and mosaics, stands alongside the Blue Mosque, creating one of the most iconic urban panoramas in the world. Not far away, the Topkapi Palace tells

centuries of imperial splendour: manicured gardens, lavish pavilions, and the imperial treasury. A short walk towards the sea leads to the shore of the Sea of Marmara, where seagulls glide above the sound of the waves. One of the most fascinating places to discover the city’s commercial soul is the Grand Bazaar, a labyrinth of over 4,000 shops selling carpets, spices, jewellery, and ceramics. It’s an experience to enjoy slowly, guided by scents and colours, though prices are not always the most affordable. For more authentic and reasonably priced souvenirs, it’s worth crossing the Bosphorus to reach Kadıköy, a young and vibrant district on the Asian side, where independent cafés and local markets reveal a more everyday side of the city. Another district worth a stop is Galata, dominated by its medieval tower, offering panoramic views over the entire historic centre. From here, you can walk down to the Golden Horn, passing along the cobbled streets of Beyoğlu, alive with art shops, bookstores, and restaurants. In the evening, the area glows with soft lights and becomes the perfect spot to enjoy meze and fresh fish. The Bosphorus is not just a geographical border; it is the liquid soul of Istanbul. Boarding a local ferry is one of the most authentic ways to experience the city. In just a few minutes, you can pass from Europe to Asia, with the wind in your face and the silhouettes of mosques and palaces against the sunset. Those with more time can take a mini-cruise to the Black Sea, skirting villages and ancient Ottoman fortresses. Among its curiosities, Istanbul is known as “the city of seven hills,” just like Rome, with monumental mosques crowning each one. It is also home to the Tünel, 18 |

The city still bears traces of its history as an international port: for decades, it was the final destination of the legendary Orient Express, a symbol of slow and refined travel. The rhythm of Istanbul is also set by its flavours. Turkish tea, served in small tulip-shaped glasses, is an omnipresent gesture of hospitality, though highly caffeinated. For a sweet break,

HAPPY TRAVELS!
BUON VIAGGIO! baklava is a must, while simit, a sesame-crusted bread ring, is the locals’ favourite snack. For a typical dinner, waterfront restaurants offer fish dishes accompanied by rakı, the national anise-flavoured spirit. Istanbul is a city that calls to be explored with curiosity and a leisurely pace, alternating between its most famous landmarks and its lesser-known gems, such as the Princes’ Islands, where cars are banned, or neighbourhood markets overflowing with fruit, olives, and cheeses. In every corner, you can feel the layering of histories and cultures, in a constant dialogue between past and present.

EN. Tanzania is one of those places that embody the very idea of Africa within a single nation: vast wild spaces, extraordinary wildlife, white sandy beaches, and legendary mountains. Departing from Italy is simple: there are no direct flights, but with one stop — often in Istanbul, Doha, or Addis Ababa — you land in Dar es Salaam or Kilimanjaro Airport, the perfect base to begin your adventure. The first image that comes to mind when speaking of Tanzania is that of the safari. The Serengeti National Park is a name that conjures epic scenes: endless plains, golden sunrises, and herds of wildebeest and zebras making the great migration, followed by predators. Between February and March, you can witness the calving season, while from July to October, massive crossings take place over the Mara River in a natural spectacle of rare intensity. Equally fascinating is the Ngorongoro Crater, an immense volcanic caldera hosting an impressive concentration of wildlife in a landscape resembling a natural amphitheatre. For those who love direct contact with nature, Tanzania also offers lesser-known parks such as Tarangire, famous for its giant baobabs and elephant herds, or the Selous,

one of the largest game reserves in the world. Local guides, often born and raised in these lands, can narrate not only animal behaviour but also the legends and rhythms of African life. Tanzania is not only about safaris. On the other end of the spectrum lies Zanzibar, the spice island and an ideal destination for those seeking a blend of nature and sea. Its powdery white beaches and the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean invite slow days filled with swimming, diving, and wandering through the markets of Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site where Arab, Indian, and European architecture blend in a maze of alleys scented with cloves. Here it’s impossible to resist freshly caught fish and the sweetest tropical fruits. Another Tanzanian icon is Kilimanjaro, the “Roof of Africa.” At 5,895 metres, it’s the highest mountain on the continent and an irresistible draw for hikers. Its slopes offer trekking routes ranging from challenging to accessible, with landscapes shifting from savannah to rainforest, up to glaciers near the summit. Even for

EN. Have you ever heard of the Val Mivola? We’re in the Marche region, in the province of Ancona, and Val Mivola is the area nestled between the valleys of the Misa and Nevola rivers. Senigallia is one of the nine towns that are part of it. Well, now you know: it’s not wise to leave Senigallia behind — once you’ve given it the time it deserves, and had a proper dose of sea and sun — without first making a detour inland, in one or perhaps all of the other eight towns of Val Mivola. What’s that, you want a preview? Before tackling the gentle ups and downs of the hills? Then start in Senigallia, by climbing the ramparts of the Rocca Roveresca. What you see out there, with your back to the sea, is a landscape that easily rivals the Tuscan countryside. I’ve gone back for two summers in a row, the last time in June, for W! Il festival delle Cicliste per Caso — a festival I highly recommend adding to next year’s calendar, especially if the bicycle is your vehicle of choice. It’s an event that brings together women cyclists, to ride along the winding roads that embrace the stunning hills, but also to share stories, build courage and a sense of adventure, during three days of talks, hands-on workshops, and performances in the evocative setting of the Roman Amphitheatre in Castelleone di Suasa. Well, I was completely taken by Val Mivola and its towns, and I want to share with you my ideas for a little itinerary, highlighting a cultural attraction in each of the eight villages. I’m confident there’s no need to waste words on the landscape — these hills, after all, are not so different from those that inspired Leopardi’s L’Infinito.
Trecastelli, a municipality formed in 2014 by the merger of Ripe, Castel Colonna and Monterado — the first you’ll reach coming from the coast — is home to the Nori De’ Nobili Museum, dedicated to this utterly unique artist I hadn’t heard of before, a sort of Italian Frida Kahlo. Don’t miss the Centro Studi sulla Donna nelle Arti Visive Contemporanee (Research Centre on Women in Contemporary Visual Arts), focused on exploring femininity in contemporary art. Ostra, the city of music, is where you’ll find Teatro La Vittoria, whose current structure dates back to 1863 and is incorporated into the right wing of the town hall. A real gem — barely 78 square metres, cosy as a small flat, yet it can seat nearly 200 people. Even the famous Eleonora Duse performed there. Corinaldo, the “town of madmen” and one of Italy’s Most Beautiful Villages, boasts the best-preserved town walls in the Marche region. In the 1400s, it was considered the safest

fortress in the Ancona area. In Corinaldo, climb the beautiful staircase — one of the oldest streets in the medieval part of town. Ostra Vetere has spires that stand out against the landscape, with the Apennines behind. Its Civic and Parish Museum, housed in Palazzo Marulli, preserves works ranging from the 15th to the 18th century. The archaeological area of Castelleone di Suasa is well worth a slow-paced visit and a moment to reflect on the pre-Roman origins of the site and the Senones — the fierce barbarians who gave the Romans a hard time. In the end,
the Romans defeated them, but perhaps also absorbed them into their city. A city complete with baths and an amphitheatre. The remains of the Domus of the Coiedii — an opulent patrician home of surprising size, especially given the modest dimensions of the ancient town of Suasa — are extraordinary. Part of the findings is on display at the City Museum of Suasa, inside Palazzo Livia della Rovere. In Barbara, the Castle, renovated in the 15th century, is still surrounded by a sloped wall with four fortified corner towers, culminating in a tall central keep known as ‘l Torrione. Don’t miss the baptistery inside the beautiful Abbey Church of Santa Maria Assunta. A stunning surprise! The historic centre of Serra de’ Conti is one of the best-preserved urban layouts in the province of Ancona. Don’t miss the Museum of Monastic Arts, which houses collections of objects from the nearby Monastery of Santa Maria Maddalena. patrizia dalle dimensioni sorprendenti, sproporzionate rispetto alla grandezza ridotta della città di Suasa.

which speak to a long-forgotten past. And finally, Arcevia, with its nine castles, each built on a hilltop in strategic positions with wide views over the surrounding territory. I’ll mention Piticchio Castle, with its Giocando toy museum, and Nidastore – named for its shape, which resembles a goshawk’s nest, and tied to an intriguing story of rebellion, when the local vassals rose up against the lord who enforced the ius primae noctis. But really, they’re all worth visiting and discovering.

PANGKOR,
IL PARADISO RITROVATO di Ilaria Santi
Malesia Pangkor, Laut Resort ©Malaysia Tourism

PANGKOR: PARADISE REDISCOVERED EN. “This place is enchanting, it’s a paradise… I was truly moved, almost to tears, seeing so many beautiful things created by God. Because this is truly a paradise.” This is how Luciano described the island of Pangkor, in Malaysia. And if you’re looking for the perfect seaside destination, this is the right choice. The island is just a 10-minute boat ride from the mainland and about 250 km from Kuala Lumpur. It boasts lush beaches where you can enjoy the sun and sea, but also offers many activities, including some fascinating historical sites. Located on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia, Pangkor Island is famous for its stunning scenery. It is also dotted with picturesque fishing villages, worth visiting to learn more about the daily life of Malaysian locals. Naturally, the beaches are the island’s main draw. Among the most famous are Teluk Nipah, Coral Bay, and Pasir
all’orizzonte. Bogak. According to locals, the best time to head to the beach is at sunset, when you can dip your feet in the cool water while watching the sun disappear over the horizon. This is also the moment when flocks of spectacular hornbills, with their striking orange beaks, arrive. Under the guidance of experienced guides, visitors can even feed them. But Pangkor is not only famous for its relaxing atmosphere and the sea—it also boasts a rich historical heritage. In the heart of the island stands a proud 17th-century Dutch fort, ready to be explored. The fort was originally built to control the tin trade from Perak. Also worth visiting are two beautiful mosques, Masjid Seribu Selawat and Masjid Seribu Doa. The first is also known as the “Floating Mosque” as it stands on stilts in the water and is truly unique. The mosque’s interior is beautifully decorated with blue details and, among its decorations, visitors can admire over a thousand carvings of the Arabic phrase “Selawat,” recited by Muslims in their daily prayers. The island is also home to numerous seafood processing factories, where visitors can stop and sample a variety of fishbased snacks—the most popular being Fish Satay. In October 2025, Pangkor Island will host an unmissable music event titled Opera in Paradise. Against the breathtaking backdrop of a two-million-year-old rainforest and crystal-clear waters, on a tiny private island home to the ultra-luxurious Pangkor Laut Resort, an unparalleled stage will be set for world-class musicians, including Andrea Griminelli, protégé of Pavarotti himself. For three days (October 10–12), the artists will transform the open-air theatre of Pangkor Laut into an extraordinary natural amphitheatre, where moving arias will harmonise with the whispering breezes of the rainforest and the rhythmic pulse of the Strait of Malacca—creating an opera experience unlike any other in Southeast Asia. This paradise is a three-hour drive from Kuala Lumpur, plus a half-hour ferry ride. An experience well worth the journey.
Info: https://www.bormio.eu/it SiViaggia: https://siviaggia.it/vacanze-natura/sentiero-geologico-val-zebru/549649/

THE TINY MUSEUM IN THE WOODS
On the heights of Dobbiaco, in Val Pusteria, hidden by a dense pine forest, lies Gustav Mahler’s Composing Hut—a tiny museum housed in what was once his private studio during summer holidays in Italy in the early 1900s. This splendid valley inspired Mahler to compose some of the most frequently performed works in the world today. Restored to its original state, this wooden chalet is a microcosm that can be visited free of charge.
DANIELE FIESOLI: BETWEEN HERITAGE AND EXPERIMENTATION | Meeting the founder of a brand that has made innovation and experimentation its creative hallmark. EN. Amid the Tuscan hills, where the wind caresses a land scented with wool, there was a young man who knew how to listen to fashion without being seduced by its surface, seeking instead its essence. He would sink his hands into yarns the way a musician rests theirs on a piano keyboard, discovering the magic of fibres and the transformation of fabrics. That young man is Daniele Fiesoli, and in 2000—after various collaborations as a third-party producer—he decided to establish his own company, creating the knitwear brand that bears his name. From the start, it distinguished itself through a meticulous attention to detail and a precise, almost obsessive selection of materials. Daniele Fiesoli is “Absolutely Made in Italy”. Every garment is crafted by Tuscan artisans through a short, controlled, and transparent supply chain. The brand’s vision of fashion is entirely ethical, authentic, and conscious. Its collections speak to the contemporary man who dresses with personality but without ostentation: essential pieces constructed with sartorial intelligence, designed to accompany him throughout the day. The style avoids excess, relying instead on precise choices, balanced volumes, sophisticated colours, and clean cuts—bringing to life a warm minimalism. Season after season, the brand has grown, creating truly distinctive knitwear: pullovers in merino wool, regenerated cashmere, organic cottons, and innovative treatments that blend performance with comfort. Alongside knitwear, collections now also feature unstructured jackets, relaxed-fit trousers, and shirts dyed with natural pigments evoking the earth and light of Tuscany. A constant hallmark of the Daniele Fiesoli collections is the balance between heritage and innovation: classics reinterpreted through a new language, where style evolves without losing its identity. Each collection is designed to be lived in, and each piece is created to interact with the others—like instruments playing in harmony within an orchestra. Choosing a Daniele Fiesoli garment means seeking naturalness, care, and authenticity, but also innovation and an understated elegance. At the last Pitti Immagine Uomo, ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 41

the Tuscan brand also presented the “Sowing Beauty” project—an initiative that turns every garment into a silent but enduring message. Each tag is made of ecological paper embedded with wildflower seeds: not just a detail, but an invitation to plant them—because a seed today will be a flower tomorrow. For the occasion, Gate Magazine met with Daniele Fiesoli to talk about anecdotes and news from his brand. What has changed in your brand in recent years? We’ve chosen authentic evolution, not revolution—made even more tangible in this latest SS26 season. The product’s identity is solid; today we are strengthening the image, making it a faithful mirror of our quality and vision. A coherent ecosystem between product, image, and values, speaking to the world with a unique and profound voice. What values does the brand stand by and wish to share? Respect, authenticity, craftsmanship, and durability. We

believe in the value of gentle gestures, in conscious beauty, in a fashion that requires greater ethics and leaves a lasting mark—without ever raising its voice. Your obsessive attention to detail and material selection—what’s your secret? Our secret is curiosity. We experiment with exclusive yarns, innovative treatments, and new dyeing techniques. Quality comes from research, from listening to the material, from studying silhouettes, and from a healthy obsession with what surprises. It also comes from daily exchange with a valuable network of collaborators—artisans, technicians, and visionaries—whom we engage with in a continuous round table. This is the Tuscan district, this is true Made in Italy: a shared cultural heritage renewed every day. Innovation and tradition—how do they coexist? Our innovation starts from the material: we rethink classics through cutting-edge processes. Tradition and future coexist in harmony; every garment is a bridge between who we are and what we imagine.

possibile sostenibile in Toscana. Ogni scelta è fatta per durare, rispettare e restituire valore. Il passaporto digitale è un valore aggiunto? Come la pensate? Assolutamente. Cosa avete presentato all’ultimo Pitti Immagine Uomo?

Your concept of sustainability? For us, sustainability is intention. We use organic cottons, seed-embedded tags, and produce as ethically and sustainably as possible in Tuscany. Every choice is made to last, to respect, and to return value. Is the digital passport an added value? Your thoughts? Absolutely. It’s transparency, traceability, product culture, respect for the informed customer and for our planet, which suffers from this and other systems. The digital passport tells the story of each garment with complete transparency—a gesture of trust towards those who choose us. What percentage does womenswear represent compared to menswear? Currently, womenswear accounts for about 10% of our brand, but it’s steadily growing. It’s a natural extension of our style, increasingly in demand in international markets. Who is the man that wears Daniele Fiesoli? He’s cultured, curious, refined. He loves quality with style, and he dislikes excess. He seeks garments that speak his language: sobriety with soul, simplicity with character. But the collection also speaks to a new generation—young, aware, eager to go beyond appearances. They are modern explorers of taste, those who want to know what lies behind a garment—who made it, how, and why. To them we offer knowledge instead of a trendy logo, craftsmanship instead of noise, and a genuine identity that unites aesthetics, culture, and sustainable values. What did you present at the last Pitti Immagine Uomo? Our journey through the Draa Valley in Morocco. A wardrobe evolving season after season. Earthy colours, fabrics that reflect light, airy volumes, and exclusive yarns. A seductive, sensual woman attentive to elegance, never vulgar. A total journey—visual and sensory—between technical innovation and poetic storytelling.

ETONIC: THE RELAUNCH OF AN ICONIC BRAND | One of the world’s longeststanding sneaker brands is ready for its comeback on international markets. EN. When we talk about sneaker culture, not everyone remembers that one of the oldest and most innovative brands doesn’t come from Portland or Herzogenaurach, but from Boston, Massachusetts. Its name is Etonic—a brand founded with the goal of avoiding fleeting trends in the sports industry, instead creating comfortable footwear with high technical performance. Etonic’s roots go back to 1876, when Charles A. Eaton founded the Charles A. Eaton Company with the aim of making high-quality shoes built to last. At the time, neither the concept of running shoes nor of sports branding existed, yet from the very beginning, the company focused on functionality. In the early 20th century, the company began making a name for itself in the sports sector and decided to change its name to Etonic—combining “Eaton” with the word “tonic” to convey energy and vitality. In the 1940s and ’50s, the brand entered the worlds of golf and tennis, as well as other outdoor disciplines, with highly technical, advanced footwear. The 1970s and ’80s would mark Etonic’s global success, as it expanded into basketball and running with lightweight, anatomically designed shoes. One of the brand’s biggest moments came in the ’80s, when Akeem “The Dream” Olajuwon, one of the world’s most famous basketball players, not only wore the iconic sneakers but also signed a shoe line for Etonic—helping propel the Boston brand to worldwide prominence. Over the decades, Etonic has been worn by generations of athletes, sports enthusiasts, and amateurs, becoming a benchmark in basketball, running, golf, tennis, and bowling. It pioneered technical solutions such as advanced cushioning and designing footwear based on foot strike type. After a period of silence, Etonic is now ready to write a new chapter in its history, driven by a strong spirit of revival and a contemporary vision that celebrates its sporting DNA while embracing street and fashion culture. At the latest Pitti Immagine Uomo, Gate Magazine spoke with Etonic
Matteo Zanuso, Brand Director ETONIC
Brand Director Matteo Zanuso about the brand’s philosophy and its relaunch. You have an incredible history. How has the world of sneakers changed over time? The world of sneakers has changed dramatically over the years, and Etonic’s history is living proof. Founded in 1876, Etonic is one of the oldest sports brands in the world and has lived through decades of evolution, innovation, and cultural transformation. Sneakers were once designed solely for sports performance—every detail studied to support the athlete in their discipline. Today, while retaining a technical and functional core, sneakers have become symbols of identity, style, and belonging. In the ’80s and ’90s, Etonic was already a major player in running and basketball. Today, we revisit those codes with a contemporary outlook, blending heritage and innovation. Sneakers are now part of urban culture, lifestyle, and even high fashion. Our mission is twofold: to protect the brand’s authenticity while engaging new generations, anticipating trends, and reinterpreting the past with coherence. What are the elements that have never changed? Some values have always defined Etonic, regardless of trends or eras. First and foremost, dedication to quality: from the beginning, every Etonic product has been designed to last, offering comfort, support, and reliability. This was true for runners in the 1970s, and it remains true today for those seeking a sneaker that combines style and substance. Another unchanging element is our focus on functionality. Even when we revisit historical models in a lifestyle key, we keep a technical component because it is part of our DNA. And finally, authenticity: Etonic has never chased trends to please the market. Instead, it has built its identity on solid sporting roots and a genuine, credible story—something that ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 47

Chi disegna i vostri modelli?
resonates today with those looking for more than just a shoe, but a story to wear. What materials do you prefer to use? In our collections, material choice is guided by a balance of performance, comfort, and sustainability. For outsoles, we use rubber compounds of varying densities to optimise shock absorption and provide targeted support in different foot zones. We also integrate composite materials in strategic points to ensure greater stability, especially in models inspired by our running heritage. For uppers, we favour technical materials such as breathable mesh—ensuring lightness and ventilation even with prolonged use—and the latest-generation ecoleathers, chosen not only for their contemporary look but also for our commitment to more responsible design. Our goal is to offer products that combine aesthetics, functionality, and durability—remaining true to Etonic’s technical DNA while keeping pace with evolving consumer needs and values. Which sport represents you best? Etonic has a strong multi-sport identity, but if we had to choose one sport that best represents us, it would be running. That’s where our technical DNA comes from—from the first running shoes of the 1970s to the innovations introduced in the decades that followed. Running has been the foundation of our reputation for performance, ergonomics, and durability. Running means consistency, endurance, and evolution—values we deeply share. Alongside running, basketball has also played an important role in our history, especially in the ’80s and ’90s, when professional athletes chose Etonic models. Today, we carry that legacy forward in a lifestyle context, reinterpreting iconic silhouettes with modern materials and details. Who designs your models? Our models are designed by an in-house design team that works daily in close contact with marketing and with the brand’s historical archive. This allows us to maintain a coherent vision and reinterpret the archive with a contemporary eye, while remaining true to Etonic’s technical and authentic identity. Our approach is never driven by passing trends, but by thorough research into materials, functionality, and cultural evolution. The team has a strong sense of balance between form and function—understanding ergonomic needs, the importance of performance, and the necessity of creating products that speak to today’s consumer with style and authenticity. How are you approaching sustainability? For us, sustainability is not a slogan but a concrete journey we are pursuing with awareness and responsibility. The first step was rethinking materials: today we use eco-leathers and selected technical fabrics to reduce environmental impact, and we are expanding the use of recycled and low-energy components, including in our soles. At the same time, we are working on product durability, because a sneaker that lasts longer is already a more sustainable choice. Our goal is to deliver responsible design without compromising style or performance—staying true to the quality that has always ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 49

distinguished Etonic. Sustainability is not just a direction we follow; it’s something we integrate into the way we think, design, and communicate, step by step. From sports models to fashion—where do you position yourselves? Etonic was born as a technical sports brand, and that’s where our authenticity comes from. However, over time we have evolved, bringing that know-how into a more lifestyle-oriented context without ever losing our DNA. Today, we position ourselves in a hybrid space where sports culture meets contemporary aesthetics. We’re not interested in choosing between performance and style—we want our sneakers to tell a true story, built on functionality, quality, and identity, but also wearable in everyday life with a fashion-forward attitude. This balance between sport and lifestyle is what makes us recognisable and relevant today. Who is your customer? Our customer is someone looking for more than just a sneaker—they want a story, an identity, a product with something to say. They care about quality and design, but also about the meaning behind what they wear. Our audience ranges from those who knew Etonic in its golden sporting years and feel an emotional connection to the brand, to new generations who value authenticity and heritage reinterpreted with a modern twist. It’s not just about age—it’s a mindset. Those who choose Etonic do so consciously, embracing a style that blends performance and lifestyle, past and present, technical precision and urban culture. They are curious, discerning, and often ahead of the trend.
What are your key markets? Our key markets reflect the dual soul of the brand: the sporting heritage of Etonic, and the lifestyle approach that allows us to connect with an audience attentive to style and product identity. We’re currently seeing strong success in Northern Europe, where our functional approach, essential design, and authentic storytelling resonate deeply. At the same time, we’re working with great determination on the Italian market, which is strategically important to us. Italy is demanding but incredibly stimulating—a place where attention to detail, style, and product narrative pushes us to deliver our best. Here, we’re building a strong and recognisable identity based on authenticity, substance, and quality.

What new products did you present at Pitti Immagine Uomo? At Pitti Immagine Uomo, we showcased our latest release: the TRANS AM, a model that perfectly embodies our philosophy, where heritage meets innovation. It’s a restyling of a 1980s running shoe, reinterpreted with a minimal, essential design. The TRANS AM is unlined, with a thin sole—extremely lightweight and comfortable to wear—thanks to the elasticated collar that naturally hugs the foot. It’s designed for those seeking authenticity, functionality, and a clean aesthetic, in perfect balance between sporting spirit and lifestyle appeal. It’s a model that speaks of the past with its eyes on the future—fully embodying Etonic’s new direction: authentic, essential, contemporary.

EN. In the vast and homogenised universe of contemporary streetwear—where the urgency of hype often consumes every attempt at authenticity—IUTER has emerged as a voice apart, telling a story deeply rooted in Milan’s urban culture yet consciously projected towards an international horizon. Founded in 2002 by a group of friends united by their passion for skateboarding, rap music, and metropolitan aesthetics, the brand has grown without ever losing touch with its origins, gradually transforming into a cultural project before being merely a fashion one. IUTER’s streetwear is not a contrived, boardroom-born creation, nor an exercise in urban nostalgia. It is a visual and tactile language shaped through garments designed to last—pieces that can cross time and space while retaining their character. Craftsmanship is an integral part of this vision—not as a rhetorical flourish, but as a deliberate choice. Production takes place primarily in the Milan area, weaving together manufacturing tradition and

functional innovation, with constant attention to the quality of materials, the precision of details, and a design that never sacrifices practicality for aesthetics. IUTER’s pieces speak in a subdued yet recognisable voice, the voice of those who have a clear vision but refuse to impose it through overblown stylistic statements. Graphics—often inspired by hip-hop culture and the skate scene—are not mere decorations but cultured, layered references that form part of a broader discourse. Each print, each detail contributes to a coherent narrative. This is fashion for those who don’t need to show off but seek in their clothing an extension of their lived experience—a discreet yet powerful form of self-expression. Over the years, IUTER has built meaningful relationships with some of the most influential figures in the Italian rap scene—from Gué Pequeno to Marracash, to Noyz Narcos—giving rise to collaborations born not of commercial opportunism, but of genuine shared values, aesthetics, and visions of the city. While many co-labs often felt like soulless marketing tools, IUTER has continued to build credible cultural bridges, reinforcing an already solid identity without ever diluting it. Its participation in Milan Fashion Week Men’s in 2023, with the Spirit collection, marked an important turning point in the brand’s trajectory. It proved that it is possible to engage with the codes of high fashion without abandoning the urban energy and independent vision that ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 53

Director Zuzana Kirchnerová, already acclaimed for her awardwinning short Bába, once again explores the intensity of family bonds and the weight of the obligations they bring. The film follows Ester, a 45-year-old Czech woman who has devoted her life to caring for her teenage son David, who has a mental disability. While on holiday in Italy, Ester impulsively decides to take her friends’ campervan and set off with David towards the south of the country. Their journey becomes an experience of discovery, especially after they meet Zuza, a young homeless woman who joins them. Once they reach Calabria, the landscape and the new relationships give Ester hope that a better life might be possible for her and her son.
The film’s almost semi-documentary approach, combined with Anna Gaislerová’s compelling performance as Ester, lends the story a deep sense of realism. Although the narrative sometimes veers into symbolic touches that may feel superfluous—such as the recurring use of images of the sea, glass, and rainbows—its delicate balance still manages to strike the right emotional chords, turning it into a powerful humanist drama.

the artist PÉTER DUHAJ di Enza Pietrangelo
EN. Hungarian painter Péter Duhaj positions himself within the contemporary hyperrealist scene, drawing inspiration from fellow countrymen such as Zsolt Bodoni, László Nyári, István Sándorfy, and Tibor Csernus. Building on these influences, Duhaj has developed a personal vision aimed at the most faithful reproduction of reality. His style is distinguished by extreme precision in rendering chromatic details, forms, movement, and emotions—often embodied in female figures. These women, depicted with perfect bodies, radiate a subtle yet powerful erotic and mystical charge. This approach is perfectly exemplified in Awakening after a Long Night, a work inspired by a real-life experience of the artist. It portrays a young woman awakening after a night of celebration. Her dreamy pose, facial expression, and exposed body are designed to invite the viewer to imagine her story, emotions, and thoughts. As Duhaj himself explains, the aim is to “draw the spectator into the story and make them a participant,” creating an atmosphere that transcends mere visual representation. An intriguing historical parallel can be drawn with Rest 2, the celebrated work of Korean master Chang Hong Ahn. While Ahn’s painting anticipates a similar scene, it does so with a more modest and traditional sensibility, offering a fascinating comparison of how two artists, from different eras and cultures, have approached the theme of the female figure in moments of intimacy and surrender.

LET’S GET OUR HEADS BACK IN SHAPE – AND NOT JUST OUR HEAD EN. DThe holidays are over for most of us—though some lucky ones are still waiting to leave, and we can’t help but envy them. But coming back from vacation can be the perfect time to pamper yourself and set aside a little time to feel your very best. After summer, your skin might be in need of some regeneration, so a good idea is to book a facial, apply a hydrating mask, and use a nourishing cream. For the body, a gentle scrub can help remove dead skin cells and bring back a healthy, radiant glow. Don’t forget to care for your hair too—perhaps with a strengthening or hydrating treatment. For a fresh touch, you can spritz on a light fragrance and add a little natural make-up to feel instantly more energised and luminous.

SPARKLING AND REFRESHING: FRAGRANCES AS FRESH AS A SIP OF LEMONADE Like an icy sip of lemonade on a clear day, some fragrance compositions refresh the senses instantly and lightly. In perfumery, freshness is not just a sensation—it’s a precise construction, made up of carefully balanced contrasts, aromatic transparencies, and notes that fizz on the skin. Citrus fruits like lemon, bergamot, grapefruit, and mandarin open the fragrance pyramid with lively brilliance, while aldehydes—with their effervescent, clean character—lend a crystalline, sparkling touch. Aquatic accords, green nuances, and airy musks complete the picture, giving fragrances a “thirstquenching” quality—dry and dynamic—perfect for those seeking light yet sophisticated compositions. A palette of notes that never overwhelms but invigorates, delivering to the skin the same sensation of freshness and vitality as an unexpected sip of icecold lemonade.

MINDFULNESS
Siediti comodo, inspira contando fino a quattro, espira contando fino a sei.
MINDFULNESS AFTER THE HOLIDAYS | How to turn the return into a lasting
opportunity for balance
EN. Returning from holidays is a delicate moment. We move from the slow pace of free days to the rush of packed schedules, overflowing inboxes, and overlapping commitments. It’s common to feel a touch of melancholy, as if the well-being gained on holiday is destined to fade within days. Yet, with a few mindful gestures, it’s possible to keep that state of calm and openness alive, turning the restart into a chance to strengthen new habits.Mindfulness, understood as the practice of intentional, non-judgmental attention to the present moment, can be a powerful ally. It doesn’t require hours of meditation or spiritual retreats: just a few minutes a day, practised consistently, can train the mind to step out of autopilot and resist the constant rush. The key is to start small. After holidays, the risk is wanting to change too much at once, imposing unrealistic routines. It’s better to introduce simple gestures, linked to moments that already exist in our daily life. This way, the practice becomes sustainable rather than another task to tick off.
1. MORNING BREATH
Upon waking, before checking your phone or thinking about your to-do list, take two minutes for mindful breathing. Sit comfortably, inhale to a count of four, exhale to a count of six. This rhythm slows your heart rate, calms your nervous system, and creates mental space to begin the day centred.
2. PRESENCE PAUSE
During the day, especially at moments of high tension, pause for one minute. You can set a phone reminder or link it to a daily gesture, like drinking a glass of water. In that moment,

notice your physical sensations (warmth, tension, breath), observe your thoughts, and listen to surrounding sounds. There’s nothing to change—just notice. This exercise reduces accumulated stress and increases awareness of how we are moving through our days.
3. EVENING CLOSURE RITUAL
Before bed, recall three positive moments from the day. They don’t need to be big events: a smile received, a coffee enjoyed slowly, a walk outdoors will do. Writing them down amplifies the effect, creating a gratitude archive to revisit in harder times. To maintain these habits, it’s helpful to “anchor” them to existing routines: morning breathing right after turning on the coffee machine, the presence pause between emails, the evening ritual in bed before turning off the light. This principle, known as habit stacking, makes the practice more natural and less likely to be forgotten. In questo modo, il rientro dalle vacanze non diventa una brusca frenata, ma l’occasione per impostare un ritmo più consapevole e sostenibile, in linea con ciò che conta davvero per noi. to speed up to “catch up” is strong, but Mindfulness teaches that there is nothing to chase: only the present moment exists, and we can live it more fully if we stop pushing our gaze forward. Integrating Mindfulness doesn’t mean becoming “perfect” at managing stress—it means training yourself to recognise the signals your mind and body send. It’s a form of mental hygiene: just as we brush our teeth daily, we can “clean” the mind of tension and reactivity, making room for clarity and calm. Even a few minutes a day, practised with consistency, can transform how we experience everyday life: we notice small pleasures more easily, respond to challenges with more balance, and learn to create breathing spaces even in the busiest periods. In this way, the return from holidays stops being a sudden brake and becomes the chance to set a more mindful, sustainable rhythm, aligned with what truly matters to us.

LA WEB TAX IN ITALIA
IL FISCO DIGITALE TRA RIFORME E DIBATTITI GLOBALI

THE WEB TAX IN ITALY DIGITAL TAXATION BETWEEN REFORMS AND GLOBAL DEBATES The global economy is changing at a remarkable pace, shifting increasingly towards the digital sphere. Major platforms, online services, and technological innovations have transformed the way we live and do business. But how can tax systems keep up? In Italy, the answer to this challenge is called the Digital Services Tax (DST)—commonly referred to as the “Web Tax”—a measure that continues to evolve and spark heated debate. What is the Digital Services Tax (DST)? Since 1 January 2020, Italy has introduced a 3% tax on revenues generated from certain digital activities within the country. Unlike a consumer tax, this levy targets large companies—both Italian and foreign—operating in the digital sector. It is not a general tax but applies specifically to those exceeding certain global and national revenue thresholds and offering services such as: • Online advertising: The sale of advertising space on digital platforms. • Intermediation services: Facilitating interactions between users, such as in marketplaces or on social networks. • Data transmission: Selling or processing user data. The main goal is clear: to ensure that even web giants contribute to the tax revenues of the countries where they generate value, moving beyond the traditional fiscal approach based on a company’s physical presence. A constantly evolving framework: 2025 updates The Web Tax is not a static measure. The 2025 Budget Law introduced key changes to align it with other income taxes and simplify compliance. In particular, the payment system has shifted from a single instalment to a two-stage mechanism: • A 30% advance due by 30 November. • The 70% balance to be paid by 16 May of the following year. It is worth noting that while there has been debate about completely removing revenue thresholds, the Web Tax currently still applies only to companies exceeding €750 million in global revenues and €5.5 million in digital revenues in Italy.
Why is the Web Tax so controversial? While the goal of greater tax fairness is widely shared, the DST raises several critical issues: 1. International fragmentation: Italy has acted independently, as have other countries like France and Spain. While this approach shows a willingness to tackle the problem, it also creates a patchwork of national rules that complicates the global tax landscape and increases the risk of trade retaliation. The European Union and the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) are still working towards a global, harmonised solution, but a final agreement remains distant. 2. Impact on SMEs: Critics argue that, although the Web Tax does not directly target small and medium-sized enterprises, it could have a knock-on effect. If web giants pass the tax burden onto their services, SMEs and consumers relying on those platforms could ultimately bear the cost. Moreover, bureaucratic complexity remains a concern, despite recent efforts to simplify the process. In conclusion, the DST was designed to ensure fairer taxation for non-resident digital companies generating revenues in Italy, yet it continues to raise debates—particularly over the risk of double taxation, its impact on local businesses, and its effectiveness in achieving its stated aims. Ultimately, the future of the Web Tax will depend on the outcome of international negotiations, especially the OECD’s initiatives for a more standardised digital tax framework. It remains to be seen whether Italy will maintain this levy or incorporate it into a more widely shared global tax system.

SEPTEMBER TAKES OFF: WHAT’S NEW AT ITALIAN AIRPORTS | From faster security checks to fresh routes, Italian hubs are gearing up to welcome passengers in style.

EN. September brings a renaissance for Italian airports: more efficiency, greater comfort, and tailored connections for travelers. Let’s start with the next-generation scanners. Since this summer, seven airports — including Milan Malpensa, Linate, Rome Fiumicino, Bergamo Orio al Serio, Bologna, Turin Caselle, and Catania Fontanarossa — allow liquids in carry-on baggage over 100 ml without removing them. A small revolution that speeds up checks and frees travelers’ hands. And
speaking of security, the obligation to show identity documents together with the boarding pass has been removed, making gate access smoother and stress-free. In Bologna, between August 25 and September 30, Marconi Airport undergoes overnight runway and maneuvering area works, with closures from 11:55 pm to 5:55 am. Some inconvenience, yes, but during the day the airport remains fully operational. From Fiumicino to Malpensa, the highlight of summer 2025 is the surge in passengers: 27 million traveled between June and September, an 18% increase compared to 2024. Record num-
bers that reflect a revived and highly attractive Italy. At Marconi in Bologna, the upgrades extend beyond the runway. The shopping area has been expanded, security checkpoints have been modernized, and a new multi-storey parking lot with over a thousand spaces opened in August. By mid-September, a fully renovated Business Lounge will also welcome travelers. Further south, Salerno–Pontecagnano Airport is accelerating the construction of its sustainable new terminal: five gates, photo-

voltaic panels, bright and spacious interiors. Meanwhile, a dense calendar of seasonal routes keeps the airport vibrant: flights to Milan resume in September and connections to major European cities expand through both low-cost and traditional airlines. Finally, at Trieste–Ronchi dei Legionari, the new summer routes extend into September: links to Lamezia Terme, Stockholm, Prague, Rotterdam, and Bucharest turn the Friuli hub into a lively and unexpected gateway.

CASTELLI ROMANI: UN SOGNO VERDE A UN PASSO DA ROMA Borghi, laghi e sapori tra i Colli Albani CASTELLI ROMANI: A GREEN DREAM JUST OUTSIDE ROME | Villages, lakes, and flavours in the Alban Hills
The Castelli Romani offer a perfect escape from chaotic, sweltering Rome: a mosaic of hilltop villages, ancient volcanic craters, and fresh DOC wine—an ideal day trip that tastes of summer (or spring or autumn). From Rome, a short trip by train or car — often in under thirty minutes — brings you to a world suspended between nature, history, and flavour. Nestled in the heart of the Alban Hills, the Castelli Romani Regional Park includes towns such as Frascati, Castel Gandolfo, Nemi, Ariccia, Grottaferrata, and Marino, each with its own character, framed by lakes, historic villas, and vineyards that have been producing celebrated wines for centuries. Frascati is the vibrant heart of the area, renowned for its elegant villas and unmistakable Frascati DOC white wine. Romans come here to enjoy long, sunny lunches with refreshing carafes and the relaxed atmosphere of the evening stroll. Perched on a volcanic crater overlooking the picturesque Lake Albano, Castel Gandolfo is famous for the Apostolic Palace. Today, its gardens—among the finest in the area—are open to the public, offering a spectacular view over the lake. Other places with a sweet, intimate charm include Nemi, known for its local strawberries and its museum dedicated to Caligula’s sunken ships; and Ariccia, the homeland of porchetta and fraschette—authentic taverns where time seems to slow down, often with postcard-perfect views. sommerse nel lago; e Ariccia, patria della porchetta e delle fraschette — taverne autentiche dove il tempo scorre lento, magari affacciati su un panorama da cartolina.
truly off the beaten path, Grottaferrata is home to the Abbey of St. Nilo: a jewel where the Byzantine rite is still celebrated, amid frescoes and cloisters that tell of a thousand-year-old past. The area also boasts notable archaeological treasures: in Monte Porzio Catone lie the ruins of ancient Tusculum, while in Albano Laziale, the Castra Albana archaeological circuit features baths, an amphitheatre, walls, and a nymphaeum. Then there’s nature: Lake Nemi and Lake Albano invite visitors to stroll or simply rest

in the shade, in a volcanic landscape that tells a story thousands of years old. A highlight is the panoramic route up to Monte Cavo, a hike offering breathtaking views over the Roman countryside. From a practical standpoint, the Castelli Romani are easily reached: regional trains from Rome Termini to Frascati or Albano Laziale, or Cotral buses. Still, for the most secluded villages, renting a car or joining a tour is the most convenient option. Finally, no visit is complete without tasting the local cuisine: porchetta, regional wines, authentic zero-kilometre dishes, village festivals, and markets bring to the table the most delicious culture of the Castelli Romani.

ROMA NASCOSTA
Itinerari insoliti tra arte, storia e silenzi HIDDEN ROME | Unusual itineraries through art, history, and quiet corners
All’interno custodisce mosaici bizantini EN. Rome never ceases to amaze. Even those who believe they know it well, having visited the Colosseum, St. Peter’s Basilica, and the Trevi Fountain, soon discover that around every corner lie stories and places of great beauty, far from the busiest tourist routes. This is a more intimate Rome, made of glimpses, courtyards, and lesser-celebrated monuments that offer authentic emotions. One such place is the Coppedè District, a small architectural gem located between Via Tagliamento and Piazza Mincio. Designed by architect Gino Coppedè in the early 20th century, it is an eclectic blend of styles: Art Nouveau, medieval, Renaissance, and even hints of Greek art. Walking among its buildings, adorned with turrets and carved balconies, feels like stepping into a world suspended between fairy tale and dream. At the centre of the square stands the whimsical Fountain of the Frogs. Not far from the city centre, yet little known, is the Museum of Roman Civilization in the EUR district. Here, scale models and reconstructions tell the story of

ancient Rome in a highly visual way. The large model of the city at the time of Constantine allows visitors to grasp the structure of the imperial capital and imagine monuments that no longer exist.Among the less-visited churches, yet of great beauty, is Santa Prassede, a short walk from Santa Maria Maggiore. Inside, it houses extraordinary Byzantine mosaics, particularly in the Chapel of St. Zeno, often called a “small Sistine Chapel” of the Middle Ages for its richness and vibrancy. For lovers of open spaces, the Orange Garden on the Aventine Hill offers one of the most striking views of Rome, overlooking the Tiber and the dome of St. Peter’s. Nearby lies another curiosity: the “Keyhole” of the Priory of the Knights of Malta. Looking through the tiny opening in the gate perfectly frames the Michelangelo-designed dome in a stunning perspective. Another fascinating stop is Palazzo Spada, near Campo de’ Fiori. In its courtyard lies the famous perspective gallery created by Borromini: a passageway only nine metres long that, thanks to optical illusion, appears three times longer. It’s a small lesson in Baroque genius applied to space. For those seeking the city’s most ancient atmosphere, the Roman Houses of the Celio are an extraordinary discovery. metri che, grazie a un’illusione ottica, sembra lunga tre volte tanto.

John and Paul, they preserve frescoes from the 3rd and 4th centuries, domestic rooms, and early Christian worship spaces, offering an underground journey from pagan to Christian Rome. Rome’s underground world also hides little-known treasures, such as the Crypta Balbi, part of the National Roman Museum. Excavations and artefacts here trace daily life from the imperial period to the Middle Ages, showing how Rome was in constant transformation. Lastly, for a moment of peace far from the chaos, the Cloisters of St. John Lateran provide an oasis of silence. Twisted columns, mosaics, and harmonious architecture create an intimate setting where time seems to slow down. Rome is not only a vast open-air museum, but also a mosaic of microcosms, each with its own story to tell. Discovering its lesser-known corners means coming closer to a city that still knows how to surprise, even those who live there every day.

EN. Valentina Cristiani, Don’t Call Us the Pink Quota, Pathos Edizioni (€15.20) Valentina Cristiani’s Don’t Call Us the Pink Quota tackles crucial issues such as the fight against discrimination, overcoming prejudice, and commitment to ending gender-based violence. The book gathers the testimonies of 40 respected television journalists, including well-known figures from Mediaset, Rai, DAZN, and Sky, among others. Their accounts offer a sincere and profound look into the challenges and sacrifices they have faced to achieve success, revealing the human side that often remains hidden from public view. The work is a firm rejection of the term “pink quota,” which, despite its original good intentions, has come to symbolise discrimination. Its aim is to take the reader on an emotional journey to raise awareness and inspire action, with the goal of building a future where women are free from stereotypes and prejudice. The book does not stop at outlining the problems; it also offers concrete solutions. It emphasises the need for deep cultural change, starting within the family and in schools, and highlights how education and awareness from early childhood are the true engines of transformation. It also calls on men to become allies in this process, because only together can we achieve real gender equality.
