QUANTE COSE POSSIAMO FARE IN MONTAGNA? Buona lettura e buon Anno.

HOW MANY THINGS CAN WE DO IN THE MOUNTAINS? Even before Christmas and New Year’s Eve, the snow fell really heavily on our mountains, offering us the possibility of anticipating the classic ski weeks. Snow is made for skiing, this is known, but not only. This is why we offer you a series of alternatives to the classic descents on the slopes. The mountain is capable of satisfying all tastes and Snow Lovers No Skiers (Slons), i.e. snow lovers who don’t ski, will not be dissatisfied. As is our custom, we have not forgotten the enthusiasts of “weeks in the sun” who choose warm locations to recuperate before returning to work in the city. The two proposed destinations are Mauritius and Antigua and Barbuda, two authentic tropical paradises. For those who want to take advantage of a bit of holiday while staying in our country, Patrizio Roversi, poet of the Slowtour, offers us a long itinerary to discover the Veneto, full of art, excellent cuisine and surprises. Finally, in the Roman pages you will find a truly original proposal: a visit to the Testaccio district, which is not only the “homeland” of Francesco Totti but one of the most popular and interesting places in the capital, all to be discovered in its corners and its beauties. Happy reading and happy new year.

2024 WILL BE THE YEAR OF ROOTS TOURISM | Bodies, operators, entrepreneurs and institutions in the sector met in Baveno, on Lake Maggiore, to outline the new lines for the coming year. And agree on development initiatives. di Rajan Gualtieri
EN. The first International Tourism Forum took place in Baveno, on the splendid shores of Lake Maggiore. The Minister of Tourism, Daniela Santanché, brought the entire sector’s supply chain together for the first time for two days. Bodies, institutions and businesses found themselves discussing how to have common objectives by joining forces and optimizing economic investments, in order to relaunch Italian tourism. The tourism industry today places Italy in 7th place in Europe in terms of the sector’s impact on GDP (it represents 13% of the Italian GDP), ahead of countries such as France and Germany. The objective set by the industry supply chain is to reach first place, thanks to the opportunities Italy can offer. In fact, Italy is able to have a very broad tourist offer linked to the excellence that each region can offer in its own unique way. In addition to the already famous tourism attractions including the sea, mountains, cultural life, food & wine and nature, new trends such as spa & wellness tourism, medical tourism, cycle tourism and in view of the 2025 Jubilee, religious tourism are all increasing. The issue of seasonality was an important issue discussed since tourism in Italy is so vast that it can accommodate the arrival of tourist continuously throughout the year. The goal is to create common strategies among all operators in the industry, in order to coordinate promotional activities with the similar objectives. For 2024, however, the Ministry of Tourism and Foreign Affairs will focus their attention on Roots Tourism. There are almost 6 million Italians living abroad, but it is estimated that those who have moved from Italy to live abroad over the last few decades could be between 60 and 80 million. The greatest potential of this segment is demonstrated by the fact that in 2021 the turnover was 4 billion euros with a presence of 6 million tourists, and it is

Roots tourism, which will be celebrated in 2024 through numerous initiatives throughout Italy, represents a special bond between Italians abroad and the places of their origins, offering the opportunity to visit and experience spaces, landscapes, cities and villages of their ancestors to rediscover or create deep connections with Italian culture and history.

For Italy this could represent a new, incredible growth opportunity for the entire incoming sector. Especially since in the Pnrr there is an explicit reference to this segment as a worthy starting targeted investment, with small Italian municipalities and villages having the opportunity to recover their historical places but also their traditions. Support exists in the Pnrr plan linked to the rediscovery and restoration of local festivals. Potential, with transversal repercussions as observed by the CEO of Enit, Ivana Jelinic: «There are many Italians abroad who, upon returning to Italy invest in renovating old houses, and in fact entire villages and territories. It is therefore a “constructive” tourism dictated by emotion and by memory. And since today tourists in the world need multiple motivations, the protagonists of roots tourism have precious peculiarities: they are true ambassadors of the Italian brand who by word of mouth can convince other compatriots or other foreigners to visit our country”.

LA NUOVA BELLEZZA DI LULA THE NEW BEAUTY OF LULA
EN. Time often stops in abandoned places, forever, due to disadvantaged geographical positions, exhausted economic activities and declining populations. And undisputed dominion of organized crime. Unfortunately, a story like many others, in this case the story of Lula, a small village of a thousand inhabitants in the north-east of Sardinia. In the Barbagia area, known in the news of banditry and kidnappings, for years without regular administrations. But now in Lula time has started moving again, and in the right direction. Because, as they say, sometimes beauty can save the most compromised situations. The beauty of art in this case, thanks to the passion of the patron family, the Fumagallis. Who have set in the tiny historic center a real museum of Contemporary Art, the MAC Lula, precisely. Architectural work of art in itself, all glass, black and white surfaces, steel beams, post-industrial practicable, as a reference to the mining past of the area. And then inside, but deliberately visible from the outside, cutting-edge installations, photographs and small and large paintings. Expressions of creativity arriving from the distant international central markets of global culture. And manifestations of local intellectual production, which from here are offered to global circuits, activated by visitors, connoisseurs and critics who come here without any fear of being sucked back into the wrong time of the past. Also in the name of the very powerful combination of art and science which here could take the name of the Einstein Telescope, an underground observatory of the gravitational fields and dark matter of the cosmos, a candidate to take up residence in the bowels of the abandoned mines of Sus Enattos.

Info: www.valdega.com
A SEASON AT THE TOP IN VAL D’EGA Enhanced for the third consecutive year, you can get all the way to Catinaccio with the first and only convertible cable car in Alto Adige, and the Val d’Ega ski season confirms that in 2023/2024 it is one of the most satisfying and virtuous experiences for anyone who loves snow and the mountains. On the slopes of Obereggen, in addition to the futuristic “Campanil” chairlift of Pampeago and the second variant of the “Zanggen II” slope, there are 18 ski lifts that take those who wish to the peaks of an area that boasts the world record in the category up to 60 km of slopes according to Skiresort.de. The presence of the snow parks and first-class gastronomic quality spread across 16 splendid refuges with large panoramic terraces can only claim a decisive role in achieving this result. It goes without saying that Carezza, the ski area most loved by families in the Dolomites, is not sitting idly by between its ski schools, leisure spaces, themed slopes and a rich program of activities. At 2337 m above sea level, the Laurins Lounge is the closest panoramic venue to the sun in South Tyrol but only one of 20 refuges with terraces (between Obereggen and Carezza), where you can taste the delights of Italian and South Tyrolean cuisine. In all this, we must not forget the alternatives to the great snow classics such as skiing, cross-country skiing (over 100 km of perfectly prepared slopes to travel through snow-covered woods or white landscapes) and snowboarding. Here, its dominion extends with a thousand attractions of the Carezza Dolomites Snowpark and the Snowpark at 2,032 meters. It is also impossible not to mention romantic and purely enjoyable experiences such as winter horseback riding and day spas with saunas, hydromassages and hay baths. Info: www.valdega.com
SLOW WINTER ON A FARM When it snows, the Gallo Rosso farms in Alto Adige, immersed in uncontaminated nature, look just like the little houses described in fairy tales with roofs covered in a thick layer of white, and chimneys emerge emitting smoke to indicate the heated interior of the house. Around the farms, an immaculate white blanket reflects the light of the moon and stars at night and the sun during the day. Spending a winter holiday here is like living in a fairy tale, in a silent and relaxing context, in contact with nature away from sources of stress. It’s ideal for unplugging from the daily frenzy and for dedicating yourself to activities that bring well-being: slow winter living. Concretely, the concept of Slow Winter promoted by Gallo Rosso for a winter holiday on the farm translates into snowshoeing in the untouched landscape, trips on a horse-drawn sleigh, sledding immediately outside the front door, or even reading a book in the warmth of the apartment, while sipping on a good infusion of farmer’s herbs. Idleness is also part of slow “activities”. You can fully experience the Gallo Rosso Slow Winter at some farms such as the Huberhof in Rasun-Anterselva, with half board service which is located in the immediate vicinity of the cross-country skiing track and just over 10 km from the small family ski area Riepenlift; Örlerhof in Valle di Casies which allows you to add wellness to the slow offer with hay baths, sauna, infrared cabin and Turkish bath and Aussergrubhof in Val d’Ultimo, an excellent position for snowshoeing.
IN THE AOSTA VALLEY BETWEEN COURMAYEUR AND MONTE ROSA The Aosta Valley is one of the most complete choices for those who intend to explore and experience the all-round winter mountain scenery in winter 2024. The imposing beauty of the landscape offers infinite possibilities for sports activities on the snow of three valleys and lots of fun even in the après-ski with lively happy hours. From Champoluc to Alagna passing through Gressoney in a corner of Italy squeezed between Valle d’Aosta and Piedmont, winter further enriches the scenery that extends at the foot of the glaciers: each valley has its own nuance representing an ever new perspective on the peaks of the massif that exceed 4,000 meters. Skiing in Monte Rosa means having almost infinite possibilities both in choosing slopes and activities. Even those that don’t necessarily require skis. It means skiing all day without ever returning to the same slope, except to return to the car. And, after sunset, when the lifts close at 5pm, the après-ski fun is not to be missed in the venues that remain open both in the valley and at high altitudes for Happy Hours and DJ sets. One of these is the Kondor of Champoluc, easily reachable both from the slopes and on foot from the centre, and is characterized by a young atmosphere with live music and events. Do you want to try a chiringuito at almost two thousand meters? The Container Mountain Chiringuito, at the foot of the Staffal ski lift (Gressoney-La-Trinité) is the right place. Info: https://visitmonterosa.com Design enthusiasts? The Courmayeur Design Week-end awaits you from February 1st through the 4th in the most evocative spaces of Courmayeur which will be the setting for widespread exhibitions, talks and appointments with the most famous brands and designers on the Italian and international scene.
COSA FARE A MAURITIUS
EN. Suspended between Africa and the Indian Ocean exists a kaleidoscope of peoples, cultures, landscapes, scents, colors and suggestions. A paradise that awaits you with open arms to give you a honeymoon full of emotions and unforgettable experiences. Surrounded by a splendid coral reef, it is not surprising that its 330 km of protected coastline is characterized by long white beaches. The climate is pleasant all year round and summer is endless. Unique and fascinating, Mauritius embodies different worlds. Here Europe, Africa and the East meet, creating a harmonious melting pot that makes it unparalleled. The interior contains spectacular views that alternate between green tea plantations with sparkling waterfalls and endless expanses of sugar cane that plunge into the turquoise sea. The villages recall the ancient colonial splendor found in homes whose charm has remained intact over time. As Joseph Conrad wrote, the island of Mauritius “is a pearl that distils a lot of sweetness on the world”, but what makes this island even more a little corner of paradise is the hospitality of its people and their spontaneous smile which makes you feel at home despite the awareness of being on holiday, in a part of time that makes you forget time, in a wonderful and rare state where perfection and beauty can be touched with your hands.
WHAT TO DO IN MAURITIUS Certainly a holiday in Mauritius cannot fail to include hours of sun and sea, lying on pristine beaches while sipping a drink. But it is also worth planning visits and excursions to discover the island. One of the most importanti s a visit to Le Morne Brabant, a site declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where fugitive slaves once found shelter. Located on the southern coast of Mauritius, it offers breathtaking views for those who decide to reach the summit of the mountain. It takes three to four hours to hike with some steep and rocky sections. Those who wish can hire a guide. At the foot of Le Morne, the International Slave Route Monument is also worth a visit. Another excursion that will immerse you in Jurassic Park type scenery is Tamarin Falls. You start at the top of the highest of the seven waterfalls and descend, surrounded by birdsong and a lush forest. The excursion lasts two to three hours and, at the end, you can dive into a splendid pool under a 45-meter waterfall. The more daring can also visit the waterfalls with a guided canyoning expedition. If you are passionate about marine fauna, a stop at the Odysseum Aquarium, located in the Mauritian capital of Port Louis, is a must. Here you can meet sharks, feed the majestic stingrays and experience virtual marine life with 3D projections and cutting-edge technology. With 300 different species and 3500 specimens, there’s plenty to enjoy, inform and be inspired. Additionally, a percentage of ticket sales are donated to conservation projects.

After all this wandering, you can’t miss a break to discover the Mauritian gastronomic scene which offers a wide range of choices from Michelin-starred chefs to inviting street food. In Mauritius a delicate salad with “heart of palm” is very famous, but traditional local restaurants offer an extraordinary variety of tasty typical dishes that reflect French, Indian, African and Chinese influences of the island. In addition to curry, briani and vindaye (fish or meat covered with turmeric, ginger, chilli and mustard seeds), try Creole rougaille (fish or meat in a spicy tomato sauce with thyme and chilli), bol renverse Chinese-inspired and French-style meat stew. Accompany it all with a local Phoenix beer, a water flavored with herbs, lemon and ginger and finished with a homemade coconut ot chili flavored rum. You won’t be disappointed. A ‘PIEDS-DANS-L’EAU’ HOLIDAY Is it possible to dedicate a dreamty desirable holiday exclusively to sea and sunbathing? Of course you can. At Shandrani Bechcomber (www.beachcomber-hotels.com), the temptation to give in to the lure of doing nothing by the sea is almost as irresistible as considering the profusion of beaches.
DIVERTIMENTO E CULTURA

I AM MYSELF ONLY ON STAGE | Tommaso Paradiso, former front-man of The Giornalisti, who says he loves the sweat and adrenaline that only live concerts can give him, tells us about his second solo album.

Proud of his melodic and hot as summer, second solo album Sensazione Stupenda. A «Tommy 2023» tour that will stop at the Capannelle Hippodrome, for Rock in Rome on July 4th, he is more aware and confident. The Roman singer-songwriter - with a degree in Philosophy and strengthened by his first forty years - is no longer afraid. Now he enjoys this golden moment. “Sensazione Stupenda” is an album full of different sounds. How was it born? «I didn’t want to write a record on the table. It was born after a dark period, marked by the pandemic and forced solitude. I found life again and embraced it again.

among the people, this life that has resumed with songs, the tour, the show, the holidays, with schools that start again, and cities that are moving away.” Do you find all your energy in the live dimension? «It’s a show of music being played with eleven good musicians, including the scream of the guitars, the piano, the keyboards, a sax and even acoustic moments. I have always embraced the classical tradition of the true, essential concert. We like playing real music.” Marco Rissa, former guitarist of The Giornalisti, the indie group you formed in 2009 and disbanded in 2019, is also on stage with you. «We promised to play together before the separation. We have a strong bond. He and I have never drifted apart. We have been friends forever. It was only a matter of time and you can sense it from the harmony on stage: three guitars on stage are a real pleasure.” Is a three-way reunion unthinkable in the future? «I don’t think it’s possible anymore. This is my music, and it’s right that it has my name and surname.” In the single Sensazione Stupenda you sing «I write so I don’t die». Did music save you? «All of us should follow a star that lights our path. A goal to

strive towards, which pushes us to move forward. Writing is the demon that has always moved me inside, and makes me compose every single day.”
When do you compose? «I write inspired only when I am overwhelmed by powerful emotions and I want to explain that feeling in the exact way I am experiencing it. I am sensitive and when I feel the need to say something, I say it. Then something good comes out, but not when I have to forcefully make summer hits or a piece for Sanremo. I don’t play that game anymore. I’m free now. I came to terms with my younger self, overwhelmed by success.”
The touching Quando si alza il vento, aimed at Rome, is among the unreleased songs on the album. «It’s my city and I cry seeing it abandoned and buried in dirt because I love it as if it were my mother. The turning point can only come from the individual citizen, from the sensitivity of the new generations, from everyone’s respect for the environment and not from the politicians who pass it by without doing anything. I dream for the future of a European Rome, like Madrid or Berlin, with the Tiber without litter, and the streets without triple-parked cars.” Which song from your repertoire are you most fond of? «“ Figlio del mare” is the song I want to be remembered with when I die». What are you listening to today? «I listen to Bruce Springsteen who I had neglected a bit, boygenius who is one of the best bands around, and also Post Malone who really has great talent». Do you feel completely free now? «I write and sing songs that represent me. Now I feel good. I’ve grown up and finally feel free surrounded by people who love me. Maybe it’s not the same crowd as at the beginning, but they are the ones that are really important to me.”

MY BODY IS MY FREEDOM MANIFESTO | “Without causing a scandal, my appearance should make all women think,” explains Elodie, singer, performer, actress and above all, a beautiful woman, her volcanic Beyoncé-style show seals an incredible year and makes your head spin. EN. Dark eyes, scratchy voice and the determination of someone who made it. It’s Elodie: the diva of divas. Singer, performer and pop icon. She is a beautiful star who, in just a few years, has managed to become the brightest in the Italian musical heavens. A true phenomenon recognized by all both in and out of the spotlight. She is the daughter of an Italian father and a Creole mother and she grew up in the Quartaccio suburb, the extreme outskirts of Rome, where she immediately learned to defend herself on the streets of public housing. She had a complicated growig up, marked by the separation of her parents, but with redemption and popularity for this former “pink-haired girl” who was discovered by Maria De Filippi on Amici, in 2015. “School gave me the chance to get back in line”, the 33-year-old artist often recalled (born Elodie Di Patrizi). Today the volcanic Elodie took over the spotlight with her story, personality and determination. She rides life like a horsewoman and handles the ups and downs. She is the protagonist of her incredible first tour in sold-out arenas. «Before going on stage I get pumped up. I encourage myself. And I speak a lot of Roman dialect, like: “Daje, spacca tutto!” meaning “Come on, smash everything!” , she confessed. ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 41

Her Beyoncé-style show seals an incredible year and makes your head spin. Marked by fabulous successes that lined up one after the other such as: starring in a film, “Ti mangio il cuore” by Pippo Mezzapesa, a David by Donatello, a docuseries, “Sentmento still la vertigo”, the Sanremo Festival with “ Due”, one record, “Ok. Respira”, the first Italian clubtape, “Red Light” and the love rediscovered with the motorcycling rider Andrea Iannone. Not to mention the 2 billion streams, 30 platinum discs and 4 gold discs. On the dance floor - swaddled in skin-tight bodysuits and high heels - she gave voice to all her hits starting from her latest project Red Light, with its strong pop dance sounds. «This is not an album, it’s not an EP, it’s a clubtape” she said. It is designed to make anyone dance anywhere, as if they were in a club.” She is a consecrated sexy heroine, like the image on the cover from a drawing by the master Milo Manara. Her body exhibited, without fear, that she demands independence and desire to express and assert herself.
«The body should not cause scandal. This is my body: my manifesto as a free woman”, she underlined. Elodie runs, plays and moves with dance steps on a catwalk surrounded by dancers, surrounded by a scenographic set, as in a film studded with lights, colours, rigorously designed changes of clothes

and sensual movements. Undressing for her is a game.It means telling her story. Feeling stronger or fragile or sweet. The Roman goddess winks and sings her pieces from “Purple in the sky” to the wild catchphrases: “Nero Bali”, “Margherita”, “Guaranà”, “Andromeda” and “Tribale”. Never forgetting the hymn of loving each other in “Ok. Breathe” and that “for me there are two things, my tears or your tears”, symbolic phrase of “Due”, the funky “Pazza Musica”, “Elle” («which talks about the LGBTQ+ community but also about women, who are the most bullied categories”) and the electronic “A Fari Spenti”, written by her idol Elisa who had already written “Vertigine”, “Bagno a mezzanotte” and “Proiettili (Ti mangio il cuore)” for her. Elodie doesn’t worry about other people’s judgment. To the haters who criticize and insult her for her look, she responds proudly, incapable of remaining silent. And she always takes a stand. A proud activist in defense of everyone’s rights, she expresses her opinion by criticizing Giorgia Meloni’s political program, specifically her positions against abortion and the use of the term “deviance”, always through her stories on Instagram. It’s not just her achievements that speak, but a something that has always been tenacious and clear in her thoughts: “I don’t do it to please others, I do it because I like myself.”

Hai sempre vissuto a New York? Mi piace la mia base a New York; è centrale per me.
NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE: LIVE YOUR DREAM | Second part of the interview with Antoine Verglas, FrenchAmerican photographer who has created the most beautiful portraits of divas and models in the world. With advice for young people, EN. We went digital a long time ago. What important changes have you noticed, having used film and Polaroid films for years? Digital started in the early 2000s. I personally used it as of 2006–2007. Digital photography brought digital retouching, and that was the big change and evolution. Suddenly, the computer became a big part of the final product, and talented retouchers were looked for. Have you always lived in New York? If not, for what reasons? You were tempted to live elsewhere? My base has been NYC since the early 90s, where I had my photo studio, but I have often shared my time in Paris, Saint-Barthelemy, Miami, and Los Angeles for many years. I like my base in NYC; it’s central for me. For a magazine, generally, a photographic service is 8–10 photos or pages; how do you build it? Honestly, it depends on who I am working with. Chi sono i tuoi stilisti preferiti? Kate Young, Elizabeth Sulcer, Alex White, Mauve Riley e George Cortina. I tuoi progetti: a cosa stai lavorando?
you propose a service ready to be published, or I like to work with great art directors. You submit a selection of, let’s say, 20, 25 images, and you let the art director surprise you with an amazing layout. What does fashion mean to you? Do you follow any? I follow fashion on the streets, in a few magazines, and in the Parisian and New York Fashion Week shows. Who are your favorite stylists?
Kate Young, Elizabeth Sulcer, Alex White, Mauve Riley, and George Cortina What advice would you give to a young person who would like to be a photographer? Nothing is impossible; live your dream. Your projects: what are you working on? A new book and a TV show for fledgling photographers

EN. Fashion has a thousand facets and a thousand derivitives. It doesn’t matter where it comes from if creativity reigns supreme, if contaminations are its essence and if the style always expresses its recognizable soul. We are talking about a Chinese brand that has conquered everything the world for its remarkable ability to interpret a new style, mixing fashion aspects with an important dose of technical details, and creating metropolitan and at the same time super technological collections suitable for multiple occasions but each different from the other. This is BOSIDENG. A brand founded in 1976 and a leader in the production of men’s/women’s down jackets combining a special sporty-chic elegance in its garments with all the practicality and the resistance typical of outerwear. The brand, multi-awarded internationally for its technological and innovative contents (such as the selected ecological materials, resistant to the harshest and most humid climate with the ability to withstand extreme temperatures of up to -30 degrees), also boasts numerous collaborations with international designers including among others, Jean Paul Gaultier and Kenzo. The brand specializes in the fashion segment and in technical/high altitude clothing with a truly unique workmanship. Each of its garments is worked by at least 62 artisans and subjected to more than 150 manufacturing processes. BOSIDENG has collaborated with several expeditions since its foundation in the Antarctic, on Everest and with the China Aviation Industry Cultural Center. To date the brand’s garments are sold in 72 countries including France, Italy and the USA. It’s the first choice for more
than 200 million consumers and is appreciated by many stars such as Chris Evans, Emilia Clarke, Kendall Jenner, Scarlett Johansson, Nicole Kidman, Elizabeth Chase Olsen, Zhu Zhu and stars of international sports such as Eileen Gu. After presenting its collections during New York Fashion Week (2018), London Fashion Week (2020) and debuting at Milan Fashion Week in 2019 with the Starry Night collection, the brand returned to show in Milan on 24 September 2024 with the FW 23/24 collection, in the fascinating setting of Leonardo’s Vineyard, bringing a series of looks to the catwalk that are a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci as well as to the Italian Renaissance, through a series of references and embroideries inspired by the works of the genius Florentine. tagonisti dello sport internazionale come Eileen Gu.
Where does this combination come from and why? BOSIDENG is a brand that, founded in 1976, has almost fifty years of entrepreneurial history behind it. While always remaining faithful to its DNA, the brand has evolved over the years. Certainly, in the beginning it was a more fashion oriented brand. At the time of its launch, the first luxury international brands had landed in China. The Seventies and early Eighties here were, in fact, fundamental for the development of new fashion taste, influenced by Western style. Obviously back then there was no talk of goose down garments either. Only subsequently did BOSIDENG establish itself on the international market as a leader in the production of men’s/ women’s down jackets, as a label that combines its garments with a special sporty-chic elegance and all the practicality, as well as resistance typical of outerwear. The 2006 Turin Winter Olympic Games were the event that marked, from a technical point of view, the change of pace for BOSIDENG which invested more and more in new technologies and innovation. The two skaters Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao had won silver, after a race that had kept everyone in suspense due to a disastrous fall but who then bravely continued competing. The second new star born at the Turin Olympics was Han Xiaopeng, the winner of the men’s aerial freestyle, and the first gold obtained on snow by an athlete from this country. China also has a great tradition linked to mountaineering. In 2020 BOSIDENG was the official partner of the Chinese expedition that reached an altitude of 8,800 meters by climbing Everest on an expedition to Antarctica. The Legend line wants to be a tribute to these athletes and also to the extraordinary story of BOSIDENG which is closely linked to them. This is also why the ski champion Eileen Gu opened our latest show. What are the characteristics that a Western creative must have to design a collection for a Chinese company? To start, it is essential to have a great sense of culture of the place you are living in, as well as of China in general and, in particular, of Chinese taste and habits. It is very important ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 57

to be aware of the meaning that certain colors have in this country and of the volumes. A great respect for Chinese culture is equally important, as is being clear about its strengths and weaknesses. In general, thinking of landing in China simply by importing European tradition is not a strategy that can be considered successful. To create clothes and outerwear with decidedly important technical aspects, do you have to give up any fashion details? Fashion is a semantically a very complex word. There are different concepts of fashion, which are somehow called fashion subcultures. Each of these is regulated by very specific codes that we designers sometimes enjoy subverting. There is outdoor, snow, urban fashion, etc... We play a lot with details and codes typical of outdoor or snow fashion which we interpret in a more urban key. What are the main fabrics you use for your collections? In the FW 23/24 collection there were silk, nylon satin, organza, wool, woven chiffon but also wool, bouclé, Gore-Tex and scuba. More generally, we can say that we are big consumers of lightweight stretch nylon and Gore-Tex. We are the largest consumers of Gore-Tex in Asia, ordering up to 40 million meters of this fabric per season which we use to make outerwear. What is your iconic piece? Outerwear is our jewel of the crown. Our duvets stand out for their high technical performance, thanks to the use of selected ecological materials, resistant to the harshest and most humid climate, which have the ability to withstand extreme temperatures of up to -30 degrees. The Mountaineering down jacket is the first where we have used materials used in aerospace expeditions, a re-edition of the jacket used for expeditions to the Himalayas. For four years now, BOSIDENG has been the winner of the Global Design Award by ISPO for the new textile technologies. The most

In addition to yourself, the company has had famous creative directors such as Jean-Paul Gaultier and Kenzo. Are there any capsule collections with other famous creatives planned in the future? Yes of course, BOSIDENG boasts numerous collaborations with international designers, including among others Jean Paul Gaultier and Kenzo. These are capsule collections that are launched with a precise cadence and are part of the strategy that I have strongly encouraged since I was appointed Creative Director of the brand. I find it the right way and stimulating to create new synergies by mixing different creative visions. At the moment, we are scouting and entering into new collaboration agreements. BRAND AT WORK

We are an international brand based in Shanghai. When we design new collections we don’t think so much about the details that define the eastern or western culture of fashion but we think about macro-trends that are decidedly transversal. Certainly, our garments are rich in craftsmanship, but even in this we do 360° research. In the FW 23/24 collection, presented in Milan last September, for example, there were garments that best expressed the delicacy and elegance of Suzhou embroidery made on a manual loom, one of the four oldest styles in China, but mainly because its perfectly functional for story telling. You are present in 72 countries around the world. What are your next projects? We aim to expand the retail network. We believe that the time is now ripe to take a further step. To date, BOSIDENG branded garments are sold in 72 countries including France, Italy and the USA, as the first choice for more than 200 million consumers. The first step was the opening of a three-storey flagship store (plus three floors of offices) in London, built on the site of an old pub, and located a few steps from Bond Street and Oxford Street. Among the new openings planned are Paris, Moscow and Milan. Do you have collections dedicated to the various markets or is the same collection found in all your distribution points? The collection is large and managed on four different scenarios. This way we are able to manage the various positionings but, in general, the same item can be found in London as in Beijing. Why did you decide to show the FW 23/24 collection in Milan in such a prestigious location? BOSIDENG debuted in Milan in September 2019 during Milan Fashion Week with a collection of men’s and women’s down jackets, embellished with a starry pattern by the artist Ottavio Fabbri. After three years, we wanted to return to the Milanese stage, also for its strategic role. We wanted to get out of China and felt the need to compete with other brands. The collection was then designed to be a tribute to Leonardo da Vinci, the Italian genius. Leonardo’s Vineyard seemed to us by definition to be the perfect place to present it to the public.

FASHION WORDS: ELEGANCE TIMELY TRANSLATION | The first translation and copywriting agency dedicated to the fashion industry.
EN. In an increasingly connected world, and especially in an industry as demanding as the Fashion industry, the elegance of a translation can really make the difference especially when the translation needs to be personalized or, to put it Haute Couture language, when it is truly “made-to-measure”. Stemming from this philosophy, Diego Caldognetto created “Fashion Words”, the first fashion agency translation and copywriting aimed exclusively at companies in the fashion industy. Thanks to his experience, Fashion Words has been able to develop techniques and methodologies capable of interpreting and improving the identity of the brands, by offering targeted services that can capture a customer’s interest. Today it is essential for fashion houses and brands to feel well represented; that’s why a conspicuous part of
the budget is reserved for the study and research of correct positioning and Personalization with the brand and product. These ad hoc investments point not only to building a precise, unique and exclusive brand identity, but also to helping the customer to identify with the company philosophy. Unfortunately, failure to comply with these fundamental requirements on various sales channels and communications such as e-commerce marketplaces, for example, could compromise the image of the brand or maison, risking nullifying all its meticulous work. This is where Fashion Words comes in. The agency has transformed respect for values of a brand in a real “conditio sine qua non” to help develop and disseminate the messages and characteristics that the customer intends to represent. Fashion Words, a company based in Veneto but with a strong international exposure, can count on a dynamic and close-knit team, always looking for cutting-edge and innovative solutions tailored to meet every single need of brands and strengthened by its proactive spirit and high specialization in the industry. In recent years the agency has received important recognition, such as the “Le Fonti Awards” for innovation, to name just one, by demonstrating professionalism and sensitivity for being able to identify, through its translation and copywriting services for fashion, the most suitable language for customers and their target market. These aspects acquire even more value especially if we consider the changing nature of language and the need to meet the habits and customs of the different local targets. To cope with these very stimulating challenges, Fashion Words makes use of a dense network of native speaking collaborators and experts in the sector and is committed, with enthusiasm and dedication, to finding the perfect balance between impeccable linguistic services and total respect for the brand’s philosophy. This young company has managed to create a unique and exclusive “modus operandi”, able to satisfy every reference target of the fashion industry, from Prêt-à-porter to Haute Couture, passing through Sportswear and the world of accessories. This is precisely how the elegance and uniqueness of its translations and copywriting activities, as well as all the other countless services which it deals with, have made Fashion Words an authentic point of reference in the sector.

Vediamo come. HERON PRESTON AND THE ENVIRONMENTFRIENDLY STREETWEAR | Son of a policeman, born in 1983, the San Francisco designer created an empire starting from simple t-shirts. Let’s see how. di Andrea Bertolucci

EN. Long before it became the breeding ground of startups and tech companies we know today, San Francisco was the haven of underground and gentrification, where individuals with crested hair, ripped T-shirts, and skinny jeans swarmed the city, crowding the clubs where bands like the Dead Kennedys and Faith No More performed every night. It was in this empyrean of outcasts that Heron Preston was born in 1983, the son of a police officer who over the years strongly encouraged his education, managing to get him into the prestigious New Technology High School in Napa, California, funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
It was during those years that the very young Heron launched his first line of recycled and screen-printed T-shirts, which were sold worldwide. But it was not until 2004, when he landed permanently in New York, that his life took a decisive turn. From California to the Big Apple, an existential path that touched many designers and artists, Heron Preston enrolled at the Parsons School of Design and spent his spare time editing a photo blog with which he documented the picturesque characters of Lower Manhattan, the so-called Downtown, the core of New York street culture. During those years, Preston also began producing highly successful “bootleg” T-shirts, which he covered with a bunch of corporate logos - such as those of Coca-Cola and Nascar - and then sold on Instagram. Afraid of potential lawsuits, Heron flipped the logos, concocting a narrative that the T-shirts were factory rejects found in a thrift store in Tennessee. His name began to circulate more and more, in and out of the American fashion industry, aided by his parallel activity as a DJ, which also introduced him to the
music scene and allowed him to know personalities such as Kanye West. And it was precisely with Kanye that he began to collaborate in the role of art director, designing merchandise for the rapper’s tours and creating for him the garments that served as invitations to the Yeezy brand’s fashion shows, a job for which Preston stayed up entire nights vacuum-packing garments one by one until he achieved the perfectly crumpled look he so longed for. The sacrifices of those years would be amply rewarded, as they allowed him to make friends with Matthew Williams and Virgil Abloh, who had already been collaborating with Kanye for some time. It was Virgil, whom we talked about previously, who asked Heron Preston to join him and Matthew in “Been Trill”, the collective they were creating together, a true creative workshop. In fact, the trio is constantly throwing parties, producing music and releasing songs, developing apps, and - of course - designing clothes. As the Been Trill era drew to a close, Heron Preston made one of the most important

decisions of his life, one that would place him forever in the universe of the greatest of fashion industry. At Paris Fashion Week in 2017, the San Francisco-based designer introduced his new eponymous brand to the world with a collection titled “For You, The World,” which carefully blends luxury, streetwear, and workwear, with a very strong sustainable edge, starting with the name. Concern for the planet began to be one of Heron’s recurring obsessions after a swim at the beach, during which he mistakes a school of jellyfish for plastic bags. From there he decided to investigate the subject further and discovered that the clothing industry is one of the most polluting on the planet. That’s why, for the new eponymous brand he launches an internal rating system based precisely on environmental impact. The three levels are “Standard,” meaning sustainable by less than 50% and intended to be phased out by the designer, “Preferred,” certified sustainable by 50% or more by weight, and finally “eX-Ray”: garments and items whose materials are 100% sustainable.

SLOW TOUR PADANO: EXPLORING ALL THE LANDSCAPES OF VENETO | From the Dolomites to the Adriatic, from the Prosecco Hills to the art cities. di Patrizio Roversi
EN. I dedicated an entire episode of the new season of my tv show “Slow Tour Padano” to explore the places of Veneto, a region that is a true paradise for environmental biodiversity and the quantity of UNESCO-protected sites. What we simply call “places” are not just natural contexts; they are almost always the result of the interaction between humans and nature. Each place/landscape/context has its characteristics, which are cultural, aesthetic, economic, and derive from its history, sometimes from its morphology. This journey, always on board “Elettrone”, my vintage motorcycle converted to electric, took me from the Dolomite peaks to the Adriatic beaches, from the gentle hills of

Speaking of the Dolomites, my journey began in Cortina d’Ampezzo, facing the unique spectacle of the Belluno peaks, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Pomagagnon, the Sorapis, the Cristallo... a landscape that heals, as explained to me by Maria Pia Ghedina, a mountaineer and psychologist who uses the mountains as an integral part of therapy for psychophysical well-being. But the landscape is also history, and Cortina’s history is especially tied to the Regole, the collective properties of grazing and forest lands. They are the precious remnants of times when land ownership was communal and still today, they are the collective heritage of the original inhabitants. The Regole have allowed the preservation of the territory’s characteristics, with enormous benefits for the ecosystem. I visited Bibione, which is practically an island between the Tagliamento River, the Lagoon, and the Adriatic Sea. An extremely significant area from a naturalistic and environmental perspective, dating back to the land reclamations of the 1930s. With 24 consecutive Blue Flags, it’s a destination that attracts millions of tourists each year. Moreover, it’s a hub for sports enthusiasts, featuring many cycling paths and taking a forefront stance on accessibility. Later, I went to Collagù di Farra di Soligo, nestled in the landscape of the Prosecco Hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This distinctive landscape, shaped and adapted by humans, is characterized by the so-called “ciglioni a scacchiera” - small plots of vineyards on narrow grassy terraces - along with woods, villages, and

agricultural lands. There’s also a Prosecco Hills Path, spanning from Vidor to Vittorio Veneto, totaling 51 km. And, of course, there are wineries to explore! I was in a farm in Pieve di Soligo that enjoys the Biodiversity Friend recognition. These places also bear witness to moments in history, so my journey took me to Monte Grappa, where retracing the footsteps of the great wars of the 20th century is inevitable. This symbolic location, now also a tourist destination with beautiful landscapes and views, has been declared a UNESCO MAB Reserve. But what does preserving the territory mean today? Among other things, it also means preventing depopulation. In this regard, in Seren del Grappa, I went
e terreni agricoli.

to visit a family who decided to return to the land. I couldn’t avoid a stop nearby in Possagno, the birthplace of Canova, an undisputed genius of Neoclassicism. Here, you find his most famous architectural work: the Canovian Temple. It’s also where his Gypsotheca is located, the largest in Europe, housing a stunning collection of his plaster and terracotta sketches. At this point, I followed the thread of art history, moving from Canova to Palladio, with a stop at the Bassano del Grappa Bridge, the Ponte degli Alpini, and then to Vicenza, at
the Olimpico Theater. The oldest covered theater in the world, a masterpiece and Palladio’s final work, the result of collaboration among significant figures in Vicenza in the fields of literature, science, and the arts. However, Palladio also made an essential contribution to “civil” architecture, fully representing the economic needs of his time by creating sumptuous “country villas” for Venetian nobles, another UNESCO Heritage Site in Veneto. In this regard, it’s worth visiting Villa Angarano Bianchi Michiel, a quintessential Palladian residence, to which the first two books of his treatise “The Four Books of Architecture” are dedicated. Immersed in a captivating landscape amid vineyards, the hills of S. Eusebio, the Brenta River, and the massif of Monte Grappa, it is owned by five sisters who preserve this cultural heritage while respecting local history and traditions. And then, sailing along the Brenta, as you know, you reach Venice... but that’s another journey, which I’ll tell you about another time.

ANTIGUA & BARBUDA, UN NUOVO ANNO AL CALDO Un viaggio da sogno in un autentico paradiso. Scoperto da Cristoforo Colombo e ispirato Ernest Hemingway. ANTIGUA & BARBUDA, A WARM NEW YEAR | A dream trip to an authentic paradise, discovered by Christopher Columbus and inspired by Ernest Hemingway di Ilaria Santi
EN. It was 1493 when Christopher Columbus without even setting foot on it, baptized the island of Antigua, named after the church of Santa Maria La Antigua in Seville. 530 years later, at the port of St John which is the capital of the archipelago of Antigua & Barbuda, you can no longer find caravels but instead, large cruise ships that unload thousands of people onto the island who come to fulfill a dream to discover one of the most exotic places in the world. A place that has fascinated writers, first and foremost for Ernest Hemingway, and later for crowned heads such as Lady Diana who particularly loved the pink sand beach located on the island of Barbuda which has since been named after her. Since we are in the Caribbean, the beaches are an important chapter for those who want to spend a holiday in the small archipelago. It is impossible to name all 365 of

them - one for each day of the year. The most famous are certainly Carlisle Bay, Pigeon Beach and Dickenson Beach which all offer soft white sand. Long Bay, on the east coast of Antigua is set in a quiet inlet and is the only one where you can access the coral reef by swimming so it is perfect for those who love snorkelling. Half Moon Bay is a paradisiacal crescent of sand with shades that range from white to pink, bathed by a beautiful turquoise and crystalline sea. The seabed is rich in corals and caves, frequented by myriads of colorful fish, sea turtles and barracudas. There are many spots where you can venture out with a mask and fins. One of the most fascinating experiences you can have in Antigua is swimming in the company of manta rays in Stingray City, the “city of manta rays”, where a huge herd of these magnificent creatures lives. The most historic place in Antigua is Nelson’s Dockyard, in the English Harbour. It’s a naturally impregnable inlet and UNESCO site since 2016. Lord Nelson lived there for only three years to watch over trade. The port was in fact used to export rum and sugar cane and import slaves, together with the citadel where the soldiers lived. Today this entire area has been transformed and is home to shops, restaurants and boutique hotels. There is also a museum that tells the history of the islands. ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 69

One of the most enchanting places where you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Antigua is right in front of the port and is called Shirley Heights. In the evening, wonderful Reggae Parties are organized at sunset. Completely different and much smaller is Barbuda, an island that is still incredibly wild, where there are splendid pristine beaches where you can spread out your beach towel and throw yourself into the crystal clear, warm waters of the Caribbean Sea. Princess Diana Beach is not the only pink sand beach in Barbuda. There is also Coral Bay, which has nothing to rival it. There is also a wilder coastal area, Two Foot Bay Park, where you can discover caves and prehistoric fossils. visibile.
the pores are less dilated. Lowering the temperature a little in your daily beauty routine therefore can certainly brings benefits. If cold stimulates circulation, then it must precede skincare. In this way it allows the active ingredients to be absorbed and used best by the skin. But excesses of complex and very intense rituals can have negative side effects and should be avoided. For example, immersing your face in a bowl of ice cubes can generate a violent thermal shock. To avoid this, you can choose a stick to keep in the freezer and customize it according to your needs with preparations of different properties. Cocktails can be created to apply ice-cold to the face, based on soothing rose water, slightly exfoliating fruit acids and active antioxidants. You can also add cucumber juice for hydration or oat milk to nourish the skin. These sticks, which not only contain ice water, optimize the action of the cold. Not only do they awaken brightness, but they have a decongestant effect by activating lymphatic circulation and muscle contraction to combat sagging skin. However, to avoid impact with ice, we recommend passing the stick under warm water before use and wrapping it with muslin fabric to protect the skin if it is particularly sensitive.

FRIENDS FOR YOUR SKIN | Anti-aging products designed for men, although starting from the same active ingredients that we find in products intended for female. consumers, are today the result of the most advanced research di Maria Cristina Righi
Quello dei trattamenti men only è un mercato in decisa crescita, in Italia come negli altri paesi europei.
EN. Slowly but progressively men are discovering the world of beauty. The market for men-only treatments is a markedly growing market, in Italy as in other European countries. So much that recorded increases in consumption were almost unthinkable just a few years ago, but are now bringing men ever closer to spending percentages that were previously only a female prerogative. This recent boom is possible thanks to the combination of different factors, such as the evolution of the male mentality towards beauty products and in turn distribution adapted to new requests, but above all the launch of lines specifically created for the male universe. Men are becoming an evolved and demanding consumer capable of formulating specific treatment requests tailor-made for skin which, while may have similar problems to women, does not react in the same way. Men’s skin is thicker and is more easily prone to excess sebum due to the presence of male hormones, especially testosterone. This is skin that needs to follow its own daily routine and is not the same as female skin. For this reasin anti-aging products designed for men, even if starting from the same active ingredients that we find in products intended for female consumers, are the result of today’s most advanced research (poly and biophenols, vitamins C and E, retinol, caffeine, salicylic acid, green tea) and are formulated differently in order to work best on men’s skin. Practically perfect, just for him.

BREATHE A SIGH OF RELIEF | Let’s talk again this month about the importance of breathing in our daily lives. Breath accompanies us faithfully from the first moment of life but too often we do not pay it due attention. If we did, we would realize that it is not simply our traveling companion, but an indicator of what happens to us. di Rajan Gualtieri
EN. If we listen carefully to the breath, we would hear it speak. Speak about us. Let’s try to think about two somewhat extreme experiences related to breathing for a few moments. The first experience is the following. I’m walking down the street lost in my thoughts when suddenly, a friend who wants to play a prank on me comes out from behind me to scare me. The joke works so well that I find myself holding my breath for a few moments. That is, until I realize that there is no danger at which point I breathe a deep sigh of relief. The second experience, however, sees me lying on the white sand of a quiet tropical island, warmed by the sun and surrounded by beautiful vegetation. In this case it is easy to imagine that my breathing is slow, light and calm. Let’s go back to the examples and note that in the first case fear corresponds to a held breath, in the second case, a slow and deep breath corresponds to a relaxing experience. As mentioned, those are two extreme cases. Everyday life is very different, but it is precisely in everyday life that we can pay attention to ourselves and our well-being, by listening to our breathing. In general it is true that situations in which we experience tension, stress, anger, or similar,
lead us to hold our breath or, at least, make it less natural. On the contrary, pleasant and satisfying experiences increase our breathing capacity. In everyday life it is possible to experience an infinite variety of emotions without realizing it, in turn becoming, “prey to emotions”. Today, more and more studies show how emotions are capable of influencing our health. By listening to the breath we can recognize the emotions we are experiencing to no longer allow them to affect our physical and mental state. Let’s try to give an example. If while your manager is watching you at the office, you listened to your breathing, you might be able to feel if it is being held and how long the pauses are between inhalation and exhalation. In this case your breathing would show you how much you are holding yourself back from getting up and leaving the office, and how ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 93

much you wish you were anywhere except in that place, at that time. To conclude, and goinh back to the example concerning you and your manager, to significantly improve your present state with your new ability to listen to your breath after having become aware of the retention and pauses, you could very well take slow and deep breaths allowing exhalation to be complete before inhaling again. You would feel your body relax slightly and, perhaps, you would be able to endure those moments with less stress. But how can we develop this awareness? Mindfulness can help teach us various exercises related to our breathing and their use depending on specific needs: relaxing body and mind, increasing concentration and managing states of strong stress or anxiety for example. The important thing is to learn correctly through constant practice. If practice daily for at least 10 minutes, within a few weeks you will notice that your breathing has become deeper and slower than when you started. And you will feel more energetic throughout the day. So here is some guided help in training your breathing. Through this QR code, you can listen to guided meditation which can help you improve the ability to listen to your breathing and at the same time achieve a pleasant state of relaxation in your body and your mind.

Thanks to NFTs it is now possible to make a digital object exclusive, incorruptible and transferable, that cannot be duplicated. CULTURA E ARTE IN SCENA AL LEONARDO DA VINCI Tante le iniziative sportive, culturali e artistiche che coinvolgono l’Aeroporto Internazionale di Roma Fiumicino, senza dimenticare l’innovazione. CULTURE AND ART ON STAGE AT LEONARDO DA VINCI | There are many sporting, cultural and artistic initiatives involving Rome Fiumicino International Airport, never leaning out innovation.
EN. Aeroporti di Roma aims to support inclusiveness and enhance initiatives against gender violence. It demonstrated this with various initiatives that followed one another in the final months of the recent year. AGAINST GENDER VIOLENCE Last December, the thirty-first edition of the “Best Woman” foot race was held in Fiumicino, promoted by the “Atletica Villa Guglielmi” Amateur Sports Association. The event, sponsored by the Municipality of Fiumicino, featured Aeroporti di Roma alongside the athletes, which decided to support the initiative as
part of the inclusion and valorisation project of local initiatives, in particular against gender violence. The competition, which has national relevance and was included in the competition calendar of the Athletics Federation, had a highly symbolic value, even though the Federation then canceled the order of arrival due to technical problems on the route, but promising a new edition of the same race for members soon. Also promoted among Aeroporti di Roma staff, the race was enriched with an additional event, the “Camminata in Rosa”, a four kilometer walk in collaboration with comprehensive schools of Fiumicino and open to everyone, families, students and children with the goal of raising awareness among the youngest on the issue of gender violence. The proceeds of the registration fee, symbolically set at 5 euros, went to support the “Women Goal Project”, promoted by the women of “AfricaSottosopra ODV”, an association that operates in Italy and Malawi where another
“Walk in Pink” promotes gender equality and greater social inclusion of women in the workplace. On stage for the presentation of the “ADR Trophy” were Primiano De Maria, Vice President Legal & Corporate Affairs of Aeroporti di Roma, Lorenzo Rinaldi, Vice President Risk Governance & Compliance of Aeroporti di Roma, and Valentina Torresi, Councilor for Sport and Culture of the Municipality of Fiumicino. This was not the only initiative by Aeroporti di Roma in favor of women: last November 25th was the #RedSuitcase initiative, a campaign in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. “Working on culture, on civic conscience and on equality has great value and we base the initiatives that we launch inside and outside the airport on this and towards our people, the passengers, the population that revolves around our reality”, he states in thanks to Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma. “While we work to change culture, however, what ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 103

In this context, the installation of one of the benches against violence that constitute the project for the Fiumicino area by the Mayor Federica Cerulli is planned. THE “MEDEA” OF THE PATHOLOGICAL THEATER AT TERMINAL 1 When art and inclusion merge, the unexpected becomes reality. Thus, last September Rome Fiumicino Terminal 1, an exceptional place for artistic performances and the exhibition of extraordinary masterpieces such as Giovan Lorenzo
D’Ambrosi.
Bernini’s Salvator Mundi, became the stage for theater of diversity and inclusion, thanks to the unprecedented collaboration between the Associazione Teatro Patologico Onlus, a theater company made up of actors and actresses with mental disabilities and Aeroporti di Roma. In the boarding area A of Terminal 1, ten actors from the Pathological Theater performed the interpretation of one of the most significant scenes from Euripides’ “Medea”, enchanting and involving passengers in transit and adding a touch of unexpected magic to their journey. It was the first time that the Associazione Teatro Patologico Onlus performed in an airport. At the center of one of Leonardo da Vinci’s most iconic locations, one of the most evocative scenes of Greek tragedy came to life, when Jason confesses to Medea that he will marry Glauce, Creon’s daughter, thus unleashing anger and atrocious revenge of the beloved. The performance, which represents still current themes, fears and dramas, ended with a ritual dance. The theatrical show involved professional actors and disabled actors who, accompanied by Maestro Francesco Santalucia on piano, recited this scene of the tragedy in ancient Greek “Medea” by Euripides, adapted by the artistic director and founder of the Compagnia Stabile del Teatro Patologico, Dario D’Ambrosi. After a greeting from the Mayor of Fiumicino Mario Baccini, the performance was introduced by the President of Aeroporti di Roma Vincenzo Nunziata and the Rai journalist Domenico Iannacone who, in one of the episodes of the investigative program he created “The ten commandments” on Rai3, hosted and narrated the work of the Company, demonstrating great sensitivity for Social Theatre. Unique in its kind, the Teatro Patologico Onlus association has been working for over 30 years to create a meeting point between theater and mental disability through constant methodological research involving differently abled girls and boys. Much more than a simple place of entertainment, a universe in which art mixes with inclusion, generating transformative magic. A powerful message emerges: art knows no limits and, crossing barriers, manages to unite apparently

THE CIE FOR TRAVELLING
Dallo scorso novembre, sia all’Aeroporto G.B.
Since November, both at G.B. Airport Pastine di Ciampino and at Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino, you can use the electronic gates, up until now intended only for passport control, with an Italian identity card, as long as it is electronic, valid for the expatriation and issued after February 7, 2018. Available for valid passengers in possession of Italian citizenship and over 14 years of age, and is the first in Italy to introduce this innovation implementing the initiatives of the Ministry of Internal Department of Public Security which has recently authorized the use of electronic gates for CIE holders for the following destinations: Albania; Bosnia Herzegovina; Bulgaria; Cyprus; Georgia; Ireland; Kosovo; North Macedonia; Moldova; Montenegro; Romania; Serbia; Türkiye; Egypt (only organized trips for tourism purposes); Tunisia (only organized trips for tourism purposes). Regarding countries not listed, nothing changes and therefore the electronic passport issued by the Police Headquarters remains necessary for crossing the border through the electronic gates.

In this new narrative, every individual, regardless of their ability, can feel part of a story in which inclusion is staged, with the airport as the stage. Once again the Leonardo da Vinci becomes a space for study, reflection and inclusiveness, in line with our culture and sustainability strategy”. Those present were given a t-shirt with the message “Io sono un po’ matto…e tu?” (“I’m a bit crazy...and you?”) to make it clear how profoundly it is wrong to judge others, given that everyone can harbor a bit of healthy madness.

THROUGH THE STREETS OF TESTACCIO DISTRICT | A journey between tradition and modernity in one of the most popular and authentic areas of Rome.
EN. Testaccio, one of the most authentic neighborhoods in Rome, is a revelation of history, culture and culinary authenticity. Located on the left bank of the Tiber River, this neighborhood is an immersive experience where past merges with present. Through its cobbled streets and lively markets, Testaccio reveals the beating heart of Roman life in one of its most authentic, and not so well-known, portraits. So, if you want to visit a more authentic and lively Rome, here is an alternative itinerary to the “usual centre”, to explore this fascinating neighbourhood.
BETWEEN HISTORY, CULTURE AND TRADITION Testaccio takes its name from Monte Testaccio, an artificial hill located in the area, made up of terracotta fragments that date back to Roman times. This mountain is the result of the recycling of large amphorae used for the transport and storage of goods, mainly olive oil from the Mediterranean area. Over time, these amphorae, thrown away and accumulated on this hill, formed what is now a significant archaeological site. In ancient times, Testaccio was an industrial and port district. Its proximity to the Tiber River made it a strategic place for the transport of goods. The main activity was linked to river trade, with amphorae arriving in Rome loaded with oil, wine and other products. Over the centuries, Testaccio has undergone various transformations. During the medieval period, the neighborhood was characterized by vineyards and gardens, but its main destination remained commercial and port use. In the 19th
century, with the arrival of the railway and industrial development, Testaccio began to transform into a more residential neighborhood. The population increased considerably, with the arrival of immigrants and workers who contributed to creating a unique social fabric. A key element in the history of Testaccio is the Vecchio Mattatoio, a complex of buildings built in 1890 to manage the slaughter of animals intended for public consumption. This complex had a significant impact on the life of the neighborhood by providing jobs and becoming a symbol of Roman food culture. Today, it is home to exhibitions and cultural events not to be missed (see box). During the 20th century, Testaccio was a working class and popular neighborhood with a strong identity linked to Roman traditions. It maintained its popular character even during the urban transformations that involved Rome after the Second World War. In recent decades, Testaccio has experienced a transformation. It has opened up to contemporary art, seen ENJOY YOUR TRIP | 91

However, its transformation into a stately home of great importance occurred in the 19th century, when Giovanni Torlonia, a wealthy banker, acquired the estate. He commissioned the neoclassical architect Giuseppe Valadier to transform the area into a sumptuous residential residence. After the period of the Torlonia family, the villa played a significant role during the fascist regime.

Preceded by the Scénic Vision prototype, the new generation of the Renault Scenic arrives in dealerships in the spring of 2024, the car which in 1996 marked the birth of medium MPVs and soon became a huge success for Renault. Which has very little to do with the previous one given that motorists’ tastes have changed. And therefore the new Scenic transforms from a minivan into a crossover and will be based on the same CMF-EV platform as the recent Mégane E-Tech Electric. For this reason it will only be available with an electric motor. The Renault Scénic E-Tech will be available with front-wheel drive, a 131 or 218 HP engine and a 60 kWh battery, for over 400 km of autonomy in the homologation cycle. The reference is the infotainment with Android Automotive operating system and therefore all Google services, including Maps, available even without connecting the smartphone to the car.
