December STAFFnotes

A Year Built by People

As we reflect on the year behind us, I’m reminded that the strength of the Bay Building Industries Association has

never been about one program or one event. It has always been about people. This year proved that more than ever.

From the first major events of the year to our final celebrations, BBIA experienced steady momentum. Our programs

continued to grow, our committees became more engaged, and our members showed up with energy, ideas, and a willingness to lead. That level of involvement doesn’t happen by accident. It happens when an association feels connected and purposeful.

One of the highlights of the year was seeing our team and volunteers rise to the moment. I am especially grateful

for Beth Klein, whose dedication and leadership helped elevate our communications, member engagement, and

community presence. Beth’s passion for BBIA and her ability to connect people to purpose has made a meaningful difference in how we tell our story and how our members experience the association.

This year was also filled with moments of recognition that reminded us why we do this work. From industry awards to member and volunteer recognition, we had the opportunity to celebrate those who consistently give their time,

talent, and heart to BBIA. These awards are more than plaques or titles. They represent leadership, service, and a deep commitment to our industry and our community.

Our events and programs continued to bring people together in meaningful ways. Educational opportunities,

networking events, workforce development initiatives, and long-standing traditions like the Parade of Homes

reinforced BBIA’s role as both a professional resource and a community connector. Each gathering strengthened relationships that extend far beyond the event itself.

Behind the scenes, our board, executive committee, and volunteers worked diligently to ensure BBIA remains strong, forward-thinking, and prepared for the future. Advocacy, governance, and strategic planning may not always be visible, but they are essential to protecting our industry and supporting our members.

As Executive Officer, I am deeply grateful for the trust placed in me and for the opportunity to work alongside such dedicated leaders, members, and staff. This year was built on collaboration, commitment, and care for one another. That foundation positions BBIA well for the year ahead.

Thank you to everyone who played a role in making this a strong and meaningful year. I look forward to continuing the work together as we build what’s next. With Gratitude, Stacy Roberts

Executive Officer, BBIA

INDUSTRY & ADVOCACY

News

Industry News – December Highlights from FHBA & NAHB

FHBA Florida Update FHBA continues to represent and advocate for Florida’s home building industry at the state level, supporting local associations across the state.

Ongoing focus areas include regulatory reform, workforce development, and protecting housing affordability in Florida communities.

FHBA leadership continues to collaborate with local HBAs to ensure builders’ voices are heard on legislative and policy issues.

Recent governance updates are helping strengthen member engagement and streamline leadership participation heading into 2026.

FHBA remains committed to providing education, leadership development, and advocacy support for builders and associates statewide.

NAHB National Update

Builder confidence edged up slightly in December, with the NAHB/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index (HMI) ending the year at 39, indicating continued market challenges but modest improvement.

The future sales expectations component of the HMI rose above the 50 benchmark, signaling cautious optimism among builders heading into 2026.

Housing affordability remains a top concern nationwide, with builders increasingly using price incentives and sales concessions to support buyer demand.

NAHB leadership reflected on 2025 as a year of strong advocacy, increased engagement with policymakers, and continued focus on addressing regulatory barriers.

Preparations are underway for major 2026 initiatives, including education, advocacy priorities, and national events such as the International Builders’ Show (IBS).

NAHB encouraged members to complete the annual Member Census Survey, which helps strengthen the association’s advocacy voice on Capitol Hill.

Member benefits highlighted in December included vehicle discount programs, business tools, and ongoing educational resources.
