As we wrap up another incredibly busy month, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for their hard work, flexibility, and dedication throughout July It was a month full of successful events, meaningful partnerships, and exciting opportunities to showcase the value of BBIA
This month, we hosted a full calendar of programs, including our Lunch & Learn featuring Dr. Ron Hartzer and the latest updates on the Tyndall Air Force Base rebuild, our Commercial Lunch with Chuck Hudson of PeoplesSouth Bank, and our joint Government Affairs Lunch & Learn with CPAR featuring City of Callaway Manager Ed Cook. We also welcomed prospective members, continued growing our networking opportunities, and strengthened relationships with community leaders and industry partners
July also included an incredible Young Professionals tour of Tyndall Air Force Base, giving attendees a firsthand look at one of the nation's most significant military construction projects. We celebrated another successful Parade of Homes season alongside the BIA of Okaloosa & Walton Counties during our Parade Celebration, recognized our People's Choice Award winners, and thanked the many volunteers, sponsors, builders, and partners who made this year's event possible
Our Professional Women in Building Council continued preparations for the upcoming Bill Black Wild Game Luncheon while promoting scholarship opportunities, collecting raffle and silent auction donations, and engaging members in support of women pursuing careers in the building industry.
Behind the scenes, our team continued promoting upcoming events, recruiting new members, coordinating committee meetings, communicating with members and sponsors, creating marketing materials, managing social media, and ensuring every event reflected the professionalism of our association.

BBIA members gathered for another outstanding Lunch & Learn in July as Dr. Ronald B. Hartzer, Historian with the Air Force Civil Engineer Center at Tyndall Air Force Base and employee of BB&E Engineering, shared an engaging presentation on the recovery, rebuilding, and transformation of Tyndall AFB following Hurricane Michael.
Dr Hartzer provided a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at one of the largest military reconstruction projects in Air Force history, highlighting Tyndall's evolution into the "Installation of the Future" and the tremendous impact the project continues to have on our local economy, national defense, and the construction industry.

BBIA MEMBERS REPRESENT ASSOCIATION AT
BBIA members recently returned from the 2026 Southeast Building Conference (SEBC), where they joined thousands of industry professionals from across Florida and the nation for several days of education, leadership development, advocacy, and collaboration.
BBIA was well represented throughout the conference by President Cosheene Timson, Vice President Brian Knox, 2nd Vice President Garrett Anderson, Immediate Past President Curt Hartog, Treasurer Marty Perrett, Board Members Rob Griffith and Natalie Cayson, along with Executive Officer Stacy Roberts Together, they participated in a wide variety of educational sessions, leadership meetings, networking opportunities, government affairs discussions, FHBA governance meetings, and Regional Caucus, where our Greater Northwest associations collaborated on regional priorities and strengthened partnerships that benefit the building industry across Northwest Florida.
Executive Officer Stacy Roberts was honored to participate in the inaugural Association Leadership Institute, joining more than 40 association professionals from across Florida for an intensive leadership program focused on strategic planning, governance, member engagement, and organizational excellence Stacy also participated in the FHBA Executive Officers Council, bringing back valuable ideas and best practices to help BBIA continue delivering exceptional value to its members.
BBIA's Professional Women in Building Council also had an outstanding conference. Chair Alexandra Harkins, Vice Chair Cori Newman, and Secretary Natalie Cayson collaborated with women leaders from across Florida to share ideas, strengthen Professional Women in Building councils statewide, and discuss ways to continue empowering women within the building industry. BBIA was especially proud to have its council represented as part of the statewide educational programming, where Alexandra was able to share successful initiatives and experiences from our local council were shared with leaders from across the state.
The conference also reinforced BBIA's commitment to workforce development. Members visited the Future Builders of America Doghouse Competition, where BBIA proudly sponsored the Second Place Award. It was especially exciting to see the award presented to the talented students from Wildwood Middle High School, providing an opportunity to meet the students and their construction instructor while celebrating the craftsmanship, teamwork, and dedication of Florida's future builders.
Throughout the week, members also explored the SEBC exhibit hall, visited with industry partners, supported fellow BBIA members exhibiting at the conference, and discovered the latest products, technology, and innovations shaping the residential construction industry
One of the proudest moments of the conference came during the FHBA Awards & Hall of Fame Ceremony, where Garrett Anderson was named the 2026 FHBA Builder of the Year This prestigious statewide honor recognizes exceptional leadership, professionalism, and service to Florida's building industry BBIA is incredibly proud of Garrett and this well-deserved recognition
BBIA also celebrated an extraordinary accomplishment by having four members recognized as finalists for FHBA's highest individual honors:

Future Builders of America Dog House Challenge
One of the highlights of this year's Southeast Building Conference (SEBC) was the Future Builders of America Dog House Challenge, where student teams from across Florida showcased their creativity, craftsmanship, and construction skills through one-of-a-kind dog house designs. The competition continues to provide students with valuable hands-on experience while connecting them with industry professionals and highlighting the exciting career opportunities available in construction.
Congratulations to all of the participating teams and this year's winners for their outstanding work. BBIA Young Professionals recently had the unique opportunity to experience an exclusive tour of Tyndall Air Force Base, gaining a firsthand look at the remarkable progress of one of the largest military reconstruction projects in Air Force history.
The day began with an informative Tyndall Rebuild Immersion Briefing led by Col Charles Chapman, AFCEC/CFDE, who also narrated the tour and shared valuable insight into the installation's transformation into the "Installation of the Future." Attendees also had the opportunity to witness the rebuild up close and watch F-35 aircraft perform touch-and-go landings on the flight line
This unforgettable experience was made possible through the support of 2d Lt Alix Soto-Matehuala, Chief of Community Engagement with the 325th Fighter Wing Public Affairs, SSgt Daniel Brosam, the Air Force Installation and Mission Support Center, and our generous sponsors, Townsend Building Supply and BB&E, Inc.

Industry News – July Highlights from FHBA & NAHB
FHBA Florida Update
FHBA continues to advocate for reducing unnecessary regulations that increase the cost of housing in Florida
Workforce development remains a top priority, with expanded efforts to recruit and train the next generation of skilled trades professionals.
The association is actively monitoring Florida's insurance market and supporting reforms that improve affordability and availability for builders and homeowners.
FHBA is working with state leaders to address infrastructure and growth challenges while protecting property rights. Member participation in local and state advocacy efforts remains critical as legislative and regulatory issues continue to impact the building industry.
Planning is underway for upcoming FHBA educational programs, networking events, and the 2027 Legislative Conference.
NAHB National Update
Builder confidence continues to be influenced by mortgage rates, affordability challenges, and consumer demand. Labor shortages remain one of the industry's biggest obstacles, reinforcing the need for workforce development and skilled trades education.
NAHB continues to advocate for policies that increase housing affordability by reducing regulatory burdens and expanding housing supply.
Material pricing has stabilized in some sectors, but availability and price fluctuations continue to affect project planning and budgets.
NAHB is providing members with updated economic forecasts, legal resources, and best practices to help navigate changing market conditions.
Members are encouraged to participate in advocacy efforts at the federal level to help shape policies affecting residential construction, housing finance, and workforce initiatives.
