Celebrating 75 Years of

MEMORIES ON THE MESA

Did You Know?

Al Hill loved tennis and was on the Colorado College Tennis Team, founded the Dallas Tennis Association, and built the first indoor tennis courts west of the Mississippi River in 1957

Room rates for members and guests of members during the 1960s Camel Drivers tournaments were $18 for a single and $25 for a double

Prior to the opening of the club, 400 membership invitations were mailed and memberships were limited to 250, with members from both Texas and Colorado

The annual Smoochers Tournament has been held annually since 1961

Memory from George Dishman

While my wife Judy and I have spent many fun times at the Club over the years, perhaps the most memorable was on July 21, 1969. We went there for dinner...it was the night the first man landed on the moon. Mr. Hill had arranged to have television sets all around the Club and we were having dinner in one of the small rooms off the end of the main dining room as we watched the Eagle land and Neil Armstrong step on to the surface of the moon. I will never forget the excitement of the moment and that we were fortunately having a wonderful dinner at the Garden of the Gods Club as we watched the event.

Smoochers Tournament 1971

Tastes & Sips

This cocktail is a classic variation of a white sangria. Featuring crisp white wine, peach, lemon and white rum; it is the perfect accompaniment to any Summer day. Find it at KC Grille for $13

Rupejko

Join us in Grand View for our Pan Seared Swordfish for $43. Served with fresh tomato conserva, blistered zucchini and a rich ‘Nduja butter. This dish balances, smokiness, sweetness, and spice in a bright and summery fashion.

GUEST TEE SHEET

This is imperative for our operation to run smoothly and rounds not to be delayed. We appreciate everyone’s assistance following this procedure.

TOO CLOSE TO THE GREENS

Please be mindful of the directional cart signs near the green complexes. There should be no motorized carts within 30 feet of the greens, unless you have a handicap flag issued by a member of our golf team. Please exit to the cart paths and walk up to the green. We appreciate you respecting this important rule of the course.

Peptides:

A SMARTER APPROACH TO RECOVERY & PERFORMANCE

Peptides are naturally occurring chains of amino acids that help regulate recovery, metabolism, sleep, inflammation, and performance. At Strata Med, peptide therapy is always personalized and medically guided based on your goals, lab work, and clinical evaluation.

PEPTIDE THERAPY MAY SUPPORT:

• Recovery and healing

• Energy and performance

• Sleep and restorative recovery

• Metabolic health

• Healthy aging and cognitive function

As peptide therapy becomes more popular, concerns around unregulated online sourcing and unsupervised use continue to grow. That’s why every protocol at Strata Med is overseen by licensed medical providers and sourced exclusively through licensed compounding pharmacies. There is no one-size-fits-all approach - because better outcomes start with personalized care. To learn more, read Dr. Lynch’s Blog “What Are Peptides? A Smarter Approach to Recovery, Performance, and Long-Term Health.”

JULY

July Freedom to Move Challenge

FITNESS

July is a time to celebrate independence, freedom, and the ability to enjoy the activities we love. Whether that means traveling, golfing, hiking, playing with grandchildren, or simply staying active throughout the day, maintaining your fitness helps support an active and independent lifestyle.

This month, we're focusing on functional fitness, the type of training that helps you move well, feel confident, and continue doing the things you enjoy for years to come.

This month, challenge yourself to move with purpose and variety. Your goal: Complete 18 days of intentional movement during July.

QUALIFYING ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE:

• Strength training

• Group fitness classes

• Walking or hiking

• Swimming

• Yoga or stretching

• Cycling

• Personal training sessions

• Recreational activities such as golf, pickleball, or tennis

Track your progress on the Fitness Challenge Board by marking each day you complete at least 30 minutes of intentional movement.

BONUS CHALLENGE

Try at least three different types of activities throughout the month to earn "Freedom to Move" recognition at the end of July. This challenge encourages members to build a well-rounded routine while enjoying all that summer has to offer. Only one punch is allowed per day.

50% Off TPI Assessments in July

The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Assessment evaluates how your body moves and identifies physical limitations that may be affecting your golf swing, performance, and overall comfort on the course. Using the results, our fitness professionals can create a personalized plan to improve mobility, stability, strength, and efficiency so you can play your best and reduce your risk of injury.

CALL THE FITNESS CENTER AT 719.329.4009 OR STOP BY THE FITNESS DESK TO BOOK!

Train for Life, Not Just for Exercise

When most people think about fitness, they picture workouts. But the real purpose of exercise isn't simply to exercise, it's to improve your ability to live life well.

This concept is known as functional fitness, which focuses on training movements that support everyday activities such as climbing stairs, carrying groceries, maintaining balance, and staying active during travel and recreation.

WHY FUNCTIONAL FITNESS MATTERS

A well-rounded fitness routine helps improve:

• Strength for daily activities

• Balance and stability

• Cardiovascular endurance

• Mobility and flexibility

• Confidence in movement

These qualities become increasingly important as we age, helping us maintain independence and continue enjoying the activities we love.

TRAINING FOR REAL LIFE

The best fitness programs include a mix of strength training, cardiovascular exercise, and mobility work. Together, these elements help reduce injury risk, improve movement quality, and support long-term health.

Not sure where to start? Our fitness team offers Functional Movement Screens (FMS) to help identify movement limitations, mobility restrictions, and imbalances that may affect how you move. The results can help guide your training and provide valuable insight into areas that may benefit from focused attention.

By improving movement quality, an FMS can help ensure you're performing exercises as efficiently and effectively as possible. When your body moves well, you can better engage the intended muscles, reduce compensations, and ensure every repetition counts—helping you get the most out of your workouts and maximize your results.

Whether through personal training, group fitness classes, or independent workouts, building a routine that supports everyday movement can help you stay active, capable, and confident.

Because fitness isn't just about adding years to your life, it's about adding life to your years.
