The author and the Civil Rights pioneer participated in Books & Breakfast in April, to celebrate the culmination of our fourth NOLA Readers 2.0, a collaboration between the New Orleans Public Library and the Louisiana Children’s Museum. NOLA Readers 2.0 provided a literacy experience around one book, Small Shoes, Great Strides: How Three Brave Girls Opened Doors for School Equality, for second grade students in New Orleans, through field trips to the Louisiana Children’s Museum and the Main Library.

Period Poverty Awareness Week is May 11

The Alliance for Period Supplies created Period Poverty Awareness Week to draw attention to the issue of period poverty and the negative impact it has on people who menstruate.
The Library is proud to ofer free period products at all Library locations as a courtesy. In addition, you can pick up a free month’s supply of period products at Rosa F. Keller Library & Community Center or Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Fill out a card and return it to the information desk, then bring home your free period supply kit. Monthly kits are provided by the Junior League of New Orleans.
