CONTINUING EDUCATION

COMPUTER Wiz Kids

Minecraft Modders Ages 8 -16

Instructor: Eddie Smith

Customize your own Minecraft world and mod the classic game in this one-ofa-kind class. Learn scripting and logic statements as you create your first mods. Students will create a wide variety of new elements, gameplay mechanics, and world-generating mods to change the way you play Minecraft. Projects will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family.

Roblox Coders Ages 8 -16

Instructor: Anthony Hill

Discover the Lua coding language while designing experiences in Roblox®, an online universe where you can create anything you dream of. This class combines game design concepts, coding, and fun! New developers will learn to use Roblox® Studio software to reimagine the popular game genres with their own custom code! Student-created games will be available on a password-protected Black Rocket website to share with friends and family. Students will work in pairs or teams for most of the program.

Minecraft and Roblox will be offered at the same time.

IBIR TV’s

Streaming Creators Academy Ages 8 -16

Instructor: Eddie Smith & Anthony Hill

The IBIRtv Streaming Creators Academy Summer Camp is an exciting, hands-on media program designed to introduce students ages 8–16 to the world of television, streaming, and digital content creation. Hosted in partnership with Galveston College, this camp gives young creators the opportunity to explore how modern TV networks and streaming platforms are built and operated.

Campers will gain real-world experience in areas such as music production, scriptwriting, on-camera storytelling, social media mastery, and Streaming 101 fundamentals. Through engaging projects, interactive lessons, and creative studio-style activities, students will learn the foundations of content development, production workflows, branding, and audience engagement.

SKILLS Learning

Cosmetology Hair Braiding Ages 8 -16

Instructor: Donique Lungs

Join us for an exciting hands-on workshop that breaks down popular braids into just a few easy steps. Our instructor will demonstrate and follow with a practice portion where students will try out what they’ve learned. Students learn easy, up-todate techniques in a variety of new and classic styles.

Kids in the Kitchen

Ages 8 -16

Instructor: Mike Caballero

Do you like to help out in the kitchen? Do you want to know how to cook for yourself or your family? Let us introduce you to the fundamentals of cooking in this fun and exploratory course. Join us for a course designed to both challenge and inspire students. Our kids’ cooking classes are designed for ages 8–16.

The student will get to eat their creations, bring home new recipes and maybe even some leftovers!

BLAST! Babysitting Lessons & Safety Training Ages 10-16

Instructor: Peggy O’Neal

BLAST! Babysitter Lessons and Safety Training provides pediatric first aid, household safety, and the fundamentals of childcare. This course includes CPR certification, current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, quick reference tools, and more. This course will prepare you to provide safe, high-quality child care. The CPR certification and the book are included in the cost.

Engineering Explorers

Engineering Explorers is a fun, hands-on summer program for young learners. It invites kids to dive into the exciting world of engineering by exploring different types of engineering concepts and projects through interactive activities, creative problem-solving, and engaging experiments that spark curiosity and build early STEM skills.

SCIENCE Exploration

Summer Medical School Ages 8 -16

Instructor: Dr. Spogmai Komak

Interested in science? Human Anatomy? Cuts, bacteria, and broken bones? Come join us for summer medical school where we will explore these topics and more! The summer kids camp at Galveston College offers a unique chance to enroll in this exciting class. We will learn about human anatomy-- bones and organs, the cardiovascular system - bleeding and wounds, and the immune system - viruses, flesh eating bacteria and the bugs that cause diseases!

Finally, we will learn about the anatomy of a hospital - about the doctors, nurses, X-ray technicians, physical therapists and many other people that work in the hospital.

Could you see yourself working in a hospital? Who would you be and what career option would you choose?

Chemistry Quest Ages 8 -16

Chemistry Quest Kids Camp invites curious kids to mix, experiment, and discover the magic of chemistry. Campers explore the wonders of chemical reactions, colors, states of matter, and scientific discovery through safe, interactive experiments and fun challenges. From fizzing potions to colorful mixtures, Chemistry Quest inspires creativity, critical thinking and a lasting love for science in a supportive and engaging environment.

SUMMER KIDS’ CAMP

Splash into a summer of fun, exciting and inspirational learning experiences for kids ages 8-16. Offering something for every interest - from from cooking to computers, baby sitting to science exploration! With morning and afternoon sessions over four weeks, there’s plenty of options to keep your inquisitive kid engaged all summer long!

All Sessions are $125 each Lunch option available for a fee for students with both morning and afternoon sessions on same day
