Around the Club #16 South Gives Up Aces Congratulations to David Moore for his hole in one on St. Patrick’s Day! He aced it from 161 yards out with his 8 Iron. Witnesses were Don Colton, John Campbell, and Cyrus Whitney! Rick Davis recorded his 4th hole in one, 1st one at the Gallery on #16 South with a 7-iro on March 22nd. He was playing with Joann Davis, Pam & Jack Dutzar Bev Wellen took to heart, “may the course be with you” during her Ladies Member Guest Practice Round by recording an ace on #12 of the North Course from 119 yards. Playing partners Dave Wright and Rita Maloney were there for the intergalatic high-five!
South #7 Taking a Beating Gail Kilgour’s favorite number might not be 7, but she sure liked it on March 22nd! She made an eagle 2, witnessing and celebrating with her was her husband Ken Kilgour and friend Rick Loggin. Shelley Person (left) thought March 22nd was a good day for an eagle of her own - She holed-out and celebrated her accomplishment with her husband Jim. Nils Johansson was staring down an approach shot on #7 of the South Course from 104 yards. Figuring to stick it within 10 feet and make birdie, he holed it out with a sand wedge for an eagle 2 on March 24th! Playing partners and witnesses were John Pemberton, Tim Maloney and Vic Zaleschuk. Well done Mr. Johansson!

Mountain Mania Qualifier Coming Soon! Calling all men!!! April 14th is the 30th edition of the annual Home & Home competition with Stone Canyon. A qualifying process will be held from Friday, April 3rd thru Friday, April 10th. You must play the North Course from the Blue/Green Combo tees and you only get one round to qualify. This year’s event will have a $50 event fee per person. A total of 10 members and 2 pro’s will make up the team trying to extend our overall lead of 16 wins to 13 losses!! Featured Plant Brittlebush (Encelia farinosa) is a medium-sized rounded shrub. It has long, oval, silvergray leaves that are somewhat fuzzy. The branches are brittle and woody, and contain a fragrant resin. In the late winter and early spring small yellow flowers form on long stalks well above the leafy stems. Brittlebush are frost sensitive, therefore it is found in areas protected from the cold. Rocky hillsides, dry slopes and washes. Also a great indicator of Spring! Brittlebush is found throughout the Sonoran Desert and in the warmer areas of the Mojave Desert. It also can be found growing in the coastal chaparral and interior valleys of southern California and plants grow 2-5 feet high. Brittlebush is a member of the sunflower family. The hairs on the brittlebush plant serve several purposes. Many desert plants have hairy leaves or stems. The hairs act like a blanket over the leaves to protect them from the heat and cold. The white color reflects the sunlight helping to keep the plant cool. They also help trap any moisture and reduce the amount of water lost. Source: Arizona Sonora Desert Museum
