2014 GRASS Roots Interclub The Gallery started out the last day in last place, 12.5 points behind first place Superstition Mountain. The team made the charge to come from worst to first to win by a point and a half!!! Final standings: Gallery 230.5; Superstition Mountain 229; Stone Canyon 215; Seville 189.5. We would like to thank all of our members for every point they earned…each one mattered!!! The four clubs involved were The Gallery Golf Club, The Stone Canyon Club (Oro Valley), Superstition Mountain Golf & Country Club (Apache Junction area), and Seville Golf & Country Club (Gilbert). This was our sixth year participating in this event! We have won the Trophy every year so far and we are looking forward to keeping it here at The Gallery! Congratulations to our team this year: John Beamish, Gayle Brace, Dave Charnock, Steve Cohen, Don Colton, Kelly Cutlip, Bill Hard, Kevin Hustek, Ed Joyce, Jeff Kienzle, Alan Klein, Mark McCue, Mike McHugh, Bob Smith, Steve Stuebner and Paul Zucarelli.

Core Series
4 Week Program starting April 9th Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00pm
Learn the muscles that make up the core while executing multi-level exercises to activate each muscle in the “Core Group” to optimize core strength. Each week we will cover a series of related core muscles for: Week 1: Spinal stabilization Week 2: Pelvic stability Week 3: Trunk stability & Rotation Week 4: Core Power Limited Availability- Register at the Front Desk by April 4th Cost: $80.00 for all 4 weeks Minimum: 5: Maximum: 10 Dawn Formoe obtained a B.S. as a Health Educator from the prestigious Mel and Enid Zuckerman College of Public Health, University of Arizona in 2010. She received her Personal Training certification from Cooper’s Institute in 2003. She also holds certifications from the Human Kinetics Department at the University of Illinois, specializing in Exercise Nutrition, Group Fitness and Power Training for Elite Athletes. Dawn was hired at The Gallery Sports Club in 2006 and has experience in training clients in areas of golf fitness, weight loss, sports/exercise nutrition, sports conditioning and flexibility.

Cardio Drumming Workshop Tuesday, April 8th 11:45am-12:30pm
A workout for the entire mind, body, and spirit! Participate in a completely new, trendy, and fun fitness class. Feel and experience the pulsating rhythms, dynamic movements, and powerful percussions of this new high-energy dance and rhythm workshop. Cardio Drumming combines traditional aerobic movements with the powerful beat and rhythms of the drums (stability balls). It’s designed to enhance physical and mental fitness, to burn fat and above all, to have fun. Signe Elwick, B.S., D.C. has been a fitness professional for more than 20 years. She combines her degrees in Exercise Nutrition and Chiropractic with an ACSM Personal Trainer certification. She specializes in training and program design for postural correction, stability and functional exercise as well as bone health for women. Additionally, she has years of experience and training in designing and implementing realistic cardiovascular programs to meet health, fitness and weight loss goals.

Yoga for Hips & Shoulders Tuesday, April 29th 4:00pm-5:30pm In this workshop you will be guided through a yoga practice that encourages awareness of our body! You will receive helpful techniques for the Hips & Shoulders that include: ■ Poses for Shoulders and Upper Back muscles to increase range of motion ■ Poses for hip flexors and core muscles to promote balance and create ease of motion ■ Breathing practices to enhance concentration and mindfulness in all physical activities ■ Mindful stretches to increase flexibility around the joints and reduce pain Member: $20.00 Limited to 10 participants. ALL Levels Welcome! Register by April 25nd Barbara Sherman’s yoga teaching is greatly influenced by the holistic style of yoga taught at Kripalu in Massachusetts. In Tucson, Barbara received her yoga teacher certification (RYT 200) through Permelia Harden, senior teacher at Yoga Oasis. She continued her yoga training with Amy Wientraub, becoming a LifeForce Yoga® Practitioner, Level II in 2008. Barbara holds a Masters in Movement from Wesleyan University ('83), which included studies in kinesiology (anatomy in motion) and dance.
