Around the Club Loving 100 Yards “Thursday, June 5th, Terry and I played South course. On the second hole, I pitched in from 100 yards out for an Eagle! I had eagled #7 before but never #2. Pretty exciting!” Well done Mrs. Gutshall!

Team Leon Rules the South Course On June 14th, Steve Leon showed off his skills by posting a 1 on #16 of the South Course from 155 yards using a 7 iron. Those admiring his play were Mike Gilman, Bob Huff and Mike Drazenovich. Gail Leon must have heard the roar of the gallery and only a few holes back drained a 110 yard shot for an eagle on #12. “Seven of us (GinnyB, CathyH, RobinA, CappyVS, CarolF, KitT, RobertaB) played golf today at Chateau des Vigiers- it was great fun. We played 9 holes, enjoyed a 2 hour 3-course lunch, then another nine holes! The wine at lunch did not improve our scores on the second nine... Pam Heidinger (also on our art trip) opted to take the day off and relax.” Wonderful update - thank you for sharing Mrs. Barrett!

The Gallery Nine Hole Ladies League has moved to Wednesday mornings! Please sign up in advance by going to the Members Only site and clicking on Events or just contact the Golf Shop directly at 520-744-4700. During the months of June July & August we will meet at the practice facility before 8:30am to warm up and then play around 9am. As we work to build our group we want to remind everyone that we do not require a big commitment - if it happens that you can only play with us one Wednesday a month – that is ok! If you do not have a handicap – that is ok! We just want you to have fun, play a little golf and meet new people! Now that we will be playing in the morning, pace of play needs to be our top priority! We’ll talk with Kristie for pointers on saving time on the course, and know that READY GOLF! needs to be our middle name. As a reminder, if you plan to play or practice The Gallery is closed on Tuesdays, so please pick up your clubs by Monday evening. Please plan to join us afterwards with the group from the GWGA in the Gallery Grille for a cold drink and a bite to eat if you have the time! We hope you can join us one day soon!

Gallery Troon Cup Teams Congratulations to the following members for earning their way onto the two teams which will represent The Gallery as we host this prestigious annual Troon event December 3 – 5, 2014: Kevin Hustek; Steve Gershman; David Raffety; Laurie Smith; Meridith Schrader and Wynn Clark. The Race for the Troon Cup was contested over this past season of member events. The events were assigned point values and based on the participation and performance of each member in these events, points were earned. The Troon Cup hosts teams from Troon-managed clubs from around the world. Comprised of a club professional and three members, teams compete each year at a different Troon –managed club. The first two in which The Gallery was involved were held at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale in November of 2012 and The Ocean Edge Golf Club on Cape Cod last September. The Gallery is proud to host the 2014 Troon Cup and show off our club to at least 60 teams from around the world!! A Summer Favorite! Annual Flag Day Event Friday, July 4th
There are a few events that stand out every year and this is definitely one of them! Get suited up in your red, white and blue and get ready for fun! Time Starting times from 8:00 – 10:50 Courses North Course Entry Fee $10 plus tax per person. All money goes to prizes. Eligibility All golf members of the Gallery Golf Club. We will have both a Men’s and Ladies Division. 100% of handicap. Par (72) plus your handicap. Place your flag where your last shot ends up. (i.e. if you are an 18 handicap, you plant your flag where your 90th shot ends up).

Summer Cart Program In an effort to provide a savings opportunity for our summer residents similar to that for our seasonal residents, we will now offer a Golf Car Program for the summer months. By registering for this program, you will no longer have to pay cart fees every time you use a cart…you will have unlimited use of the golf cart, plus it includes a push cart if you choose to walk. This will run from May 1, 2014 thru October 31, 2014 and the cost is $1,150 for Family and $770 for Single. Please notify the Golf Shop if you would like to be a part of this new program.

Troon Summer Series We are happy to announce a Summer Troon Travel Series continues! We have 3 remaining dates this summer, where we have prearranged golf to have some fun away from The Gallery! A member of the Golf Professional Staff will be accompanying each group, and to facilitate any games that may take place. But, we need at least 24 people to sign up for each date, and 30 days in advance. We will send out a reminder email, so let us know if you would like to play!

Fit Corner “Pilates? Not so much” In all honesty, Pilates is rarely my first choice for exercise. I’d much rather go to the gym, do some yoga or even go for a run. Gym-time simply caters to my male ego - increased muscle mass and healthy weight gains easily keep me motivated. And the way I like to describe Yoga is ‘church for the body’ - aside from the practice’s obvious physical benefits, I never fail to walk away from a session feeling ‘cleansed’ and ‘re-focused.’ As for Running, the convenience factor is superior to the alternatives - you throw on a pair of running shoes and you’re off until you decide you’ve fulfilled your daily sweat quota. HOWEVER, it’s important to determine what exercise type is necessary for our body and not mentally preferred because we’re good at it. For me, this is where Pilates serves its purpose. A pilates session delivers one crucial benefit to everything physical I do - pilates identifies what muscle groups are working more than they need to. Because from my experiences, muscle groups that work too hard will always result in unnecessary soreness and injury. The following is my body’s current ‘recipe for exercise’: Pilates 2x/wk., gym workout 3x/ wk, cardio 1x/wk and 1 full day of rest.
