Around the Club New Members Arriving in Style The Gallery family has grown and we want to welcome our newest members: Jay & Jill Warren Craig & Lauriann Jones Josh Keck & Melinda Ferrall Craig Jones was playing with Josh Keck on the afternoon of July 16th and proceeded to hole out scoring an ace on #15 on the North Course. Talk about an entrance!
Members En Fuego! John Gareau recorded his first hole in one on July 25th on #16 of the South Course! He drained an 8-iron from 146 yards. Celebrating and witnessing were Denny Deragisch, John Malone, and Norman Faye. A few days later, Bob St. Pierre recorded a hole in one on July 28th from 165 yards on hole #14 of the South Course. Celebrating and witnessing were Denny Deragisch and Bart Rice. Wanting a piece of the action, Myron Galuskin got a hole in one July 30th on #12 of the North course from 164 yards out using his 4 hybrid. This is his 5th! Witnesses were (from l to r) Nils Johansson, (Myron), Tom Henderson and Terry Gutshall and. His playing partners said it was a BEAUTIFUL shot, but they did not know it was in the hole until they got on the green and found it in the bottom of the cup!

Do Something Different! The Gallery Nine Hole Ladies League has moved to EARLY Wednesday mornings! Please sign up in advance by going to the Members Only site and clicking on Events, sign up under GWGA, 9 holes or just contact the Golf Shop directly at 520-744-4700. From now until the end of August we will play in the 7:30am GWGA shotgun, please check-in in the Golf Shop for your hole assignment! As we work to build our group we want to remind everyone that we do not require a big commitment - if it happens that you can only play with us one Wednesday a month – that is ok! If you do not have a handicap – that is ok! We just want you to have fun, play a little golf and meet new people! Now that we will be playing in the morning, pace of play needs to be our top priority! Please know that READY GOLF! needs to be our middle nameJ Please join us for our Summer Par 3 events that the club offers every other Thursday afternoon! Take a look at the schedule on our event calendar – this is a great way to meet other members in a casual setting! Spring Course Transition by Paul Ellwood
Over the past 8 weeks, our golf maintenance staff has been busy with spring/ summer transition. This is best described as the process of removing the winter rye grass so the dormant Bermuda grass may emerge for our summer golf season. Thirty years ago, golf courses were overseeded with annual rye grass, which is sensitive to the dry-hot months of late May and June. During these months, the annual rye grass needed little encouragement to simply melt away, providing an opportunity for the bermudagrass to emerge. This was ideal timing as the winter golf season was coming to a close. Transition happened naturally. The downside of annual rye grass is its light green color, quick growth (requires constant mowing) and does not offer the superb playing conditions we enjoy from perennial rye grass.
