Golf Cart Parking Breaks As some of you may have noticed, we have had some issues with the parking brakes on our fleet of cars. If you recognize that it is difficult to engage the parking brake on your car, please inform one of our Guest Service associates when you turn your car back in so that we can make a note of the specific cars needing repair. Hole #9 North Change Recently, there seems to be some questions being raised regarding the marking of hole #9 on the North. So in an attempt to explain what was changed and why, we are “re-publishing” the excerpt below from an article which was published in the Collage in October coming out of overseeding. “Hole #9 marking has been changed…the lateral hazard down the right side is no longer considered to be a hazard. The out of bounds markers will stay in place. This was done to eliminate the ambiguity off the tee. Now if you hit a ball to the right off the tee, you can hit a provisional ball for a ball thought to be lost or out of bounds, whereas before, you could not legally hit a provisional for a ball thought to be in a hazard. This will hopefully save time and eliminate any potential discrepancies of whether the ball was in the hazard or out of bounds or just in the desert.” When a water hazard is in play and your ball “may have entered” the water hazard, according to the rules of golf, you are not allowed to hit a Provisional Ball. By definition, A “provisional ball” is a ball played under Rule 27-2 for a ball that may be lost outside a water hazard or may be out of bounds. Rule 27 is the rule regarding a ball lost or out of bounds. Because of this, removing the water hazard to the right of #9 made sense since it was d ifficult to see where a ball lands off the tee due to the steep hill. Now, if you hit a ball to the right, just like any other hole that does not have a water hazard on it, you should hit a provisional ball to save time if your ball in fact is determined to be lost or out of bounds. With a water hazard on that hole, you cannot hit a provisional ball and it then becomes a matter of fact as to whether or not your ball was in the water hazard, out of bounds or simply in the desert. Now it is either lost or out of bounds or neither! Thank you for all the feedback, we always welcome your thoughts regarding anything at the club. Gallery Artisans We are excited to announce The Gallery Spring Art Show March 25th, 2016 and The Gallery Spring Artists Studio Sale March 26, 2016. The Gallery Spring Art Show - Award Reception and Exhibit March 25 5:30 at The Grille: This will be a juried show. Deadline to enter and submit work is March 7, 2015. There are four separate categories: Painting (this may split into Oil, Water Color and Acrylic), Photography, Jewelry and Fine Crafts. There will be a selection and judging process. The Reception and Exhibit is open to the public and will highlight all work in the show. The winners will be presented their awards at the reception. The Gallery Spring Artist Studio Sale -March 26 at The Sports Club: This is a beautiful scenic outdoor venue. It will allow artists to sell their work and is open to the public. This is for fine artisan crafts and original artist generated work. This gives many studios public awareness, and a retail space to sell their work.
