Recent Accomplishments Playing in the GWGA Wednesday Play Day Wednesday, Feb. 18th, Joann Davis had a nice drive on #7 South. As her playing partner, Carol Colton, dropped her off to hit her next shot, she said to Joann, “Now put it in for an eagle.� Carol and her other playing partner, Sally Herfurth, headed off to their chip shots as Mrs. Davis did just as she was told and sunk her chip for an Eagle 2!!! ~Sally Herfurth Very well done Mrs. Davis!
On Monday, February 16th, Frieda Gutshall holed out from 126 yards on the 9th hole for an Eagle on the North course. Witnessesing and encouraging Mrs. Gutshall to share this accomplishment were Carol Hobbs, Barbara Rogers, and Wynn Clark. Recording an Eagle on this hole is a VERY rare occasion and one to certainly celebrate. Thank you for sharing and congratulations Mrs. Gutshall!

Welcome Jerome! We are excited to announce the arrival of Jerome Louie to The Gallery. Jerome is a 10+ year veteran of Troon having served roles as F&B Director at some of our top clubs on the East Coast including BallenIsles in Palm Beach Florida. Recently Jerome has served the role as a transitional General Manager at some of our new private Clubs including, Columbus Country Club and Salina Country Club. Jerome is coming to The Gallery to serve as my Assistant General Manager (we all know I need all the help I can get) and his primary focus will be to support Chef Brian and his team with our F&B Operations. While Jerome is not a candidate to become our F&B Director, we see the next 30 days as a great opportunity for us to learn from Jerome and for him to steal some great Gallery ideas for use on his next Troon assignment. I am excited to have him join our team and look forward to his contributions to every aspect of our operation. Please be sure to say hello when you see him, from all reports he will be everywhere.

Play Away As a reminder, Play Away is our season-long contest for 2014-15. We will award three Stay and Play packages at the Ocean Edge Resort on Cape Cod to the winners of PLAY AWAY. The winners will earn points through participation and early sign-ups. The award packages will include accommodations and 2 days of golf for two people. (Airfare is not included.) The package may be used at any time, subject to availability at Ocean Edge Resort. There is no expiration date. If any winner is unable to use the package, they may pass along to a family member or friend for their use. This contest is only available to members of the GWGA during the GWGA season, November 5-April 18. Points will be awarded to GWGA members as follows: 10 POINTS Play in Club Championship 7 POINTS Play in President’s Cup Play in Member-Member Tournament Play in Ssolheim Cup Play in Member-Guest Tournament 4 POINTS Play in any Wednesday Play Day 3 POINTS Early sign-up for Wednesday Play Day (before 3pm one week prior) The certificates will be awarded to the members with the 3 highest points. Junior Spring Basketball Academy Protect the ball; Play with quickness and intensity, play smart and finish the play with excellence! Every coach is looking for a player that can do the FAB 4 Basketball Academy Spring Session is where players can begin to elevate their skills heading into summer and next season. The skill training, correction, conditioning, and competition will give you the edge for your off-season work. Increase your confidence and have fun! Upon completion of the Spring Session, each participant will receive a personal basketball workout plan. March 10th-April 2nd Tuesday & Thursday from 4:00pm-5:00pm Ages: 10-13 years old Cost: $100 for 8 sessions Tuesday & Thursday from 5:00pm-6:30pm Ages: 14-18 years old Cost: $150 for 8 sessions. Coach Jonathan Alexander has coached and directed basketball camps for 10 years with NBC Camps in several states and abroad. Jonathan uses the NBC Camps (largest and most popular overnight basketball program in the world) curriculum to teach the fundamentals of basketball. She has taught private and semi-private lessons to both swimmers and non-swimmers of all ages. She has also coached a high school team here in Tucson for 12 years. Some of the athletes she has worked with have gone on to compete at the college level. When she is not instructing swimmers, she competes in both open water events as well as US Masters Swimming.
