Lottery System Fu Procedure for making a starting time • You have a window from two weeks out to seven days out to make your starting time request…how soon you put in your request has no influence on what time you will get. • The “draw” is done six days in advance. • You can see what all the other requests are for that day to better plan your request. • Each starting time request will have a point value assigned to it based on the average point value of all members in the request over the past 30 days. • Your point value is influenced each time your name is used in a request. Each member in a request is assigned points based on how many minutes their assigned starting time was from their requested starting time. (Example: if my group requests 8:00 and gets 8:30, each of us will be assigned 30 points for that request.) • Each member has an individual point value that will fluctuate each time a starting time is acquired through using the Lottery. Your individual point value is computed by averaging your assigned point values on each request in the past 30 days. • The system is designed to average out how often members are getting prime starting times. Over a period of time, you will get close to, if not exactly what you request from time to time. You will be assigned times that are not real close to your request. When you have an active membership, this method is very fair in distributing starting times as the numbers below indicate. Statistics • 78% of requests get within 1 hour of what was requested • 70% of requests get within 30 minutes of what was requested • 54% of requests get exactly what was requested

urther Explained Helpful tips • The “prime times” in season seem to be between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. • If you are not interested in playing in that time period, you may be better off not acquiring a starting time through the Lottery and simply wait until the draw is done 6 days in advance. At that point you could make a starting time either online or by calling the Golf Shop. For example, if you wanted to play at 1:00, you could view all the other requests at the seven day out mark to see how many requests there are for the 1:00 area…if there are none…you may be better off not entering or cancelling your request for that day, because the odds are in your favor that you will get 1:00 or close to it and your points will be very low, which will influence your next request. • If it is important that you play in the “prime time” period, put in a request. When you do, be sure to be generous when setting your parameters. Be sure to give your request plenty of room on either side of your “optimum time” so that you won’t be “unassigned”. • Groups are “unassigned” when all of the starting times are already taken within their parameters when their request is drawn. If for example you only allow 30 minutes on either side of your request, you are really lowering your chances of getting what you requested, depending on your group’s point value as well as all of the other requests. Our recommendation is 2 hours on either side. • When making lottery requests with guests, remember that you can book your starting time up to 60 days in advance on The Gallery Course of the day.

Sports Club Welcomes Catherine Vorrasi Catherine Vorrasi has been a competitive swimmer since 5 years old. She became a lifeguard at 15 and began teaching both private and group swimming lessons at a young age. She earned a Bachelors degree in physical education and health at George Mason University and a Masters degree in sports, recreation and tourism management at the University of Illinois. Since advancing her career in aquatic management, she hasn’t had the opportunity to teach as much as she would like. Catherine is currently the Aquatics Manager for the new Oro Valley Aquatic Center. Swimming is her passion and she loves to teach. While she really enjoys teaching people of all ages how to swim, she also loves working to “fine-tune” strokes to make swimmers more efficient in the water. Catherine has experience working with people 5 months to 82 years of age.
