Gallery Associates in the Community Vanessa Baker
The “Rev” Baker Air Force Am was created in honor and in memory of Lt. Col David “Rev” Baker, who was a pilot in the United States Air Force for almost 25 years before his passing in 2007. The event was created by his daughter Vanessa and his wife Kathy who are both associates here at The Gallery. The three things that Rev loved most were his country, his family, and of course, golf. He was a fun and goofy guy who loved having a good time no matter what he was doing. Kathy and Vanessa wanted to create an event that incorporated all of these things while benefiting a great cause and giving back to those who selflessly serve our country. Last year The Gallery hosted the inaugural event raising almost $6,000 for The Folds of Honor Foundation, making the event a great success. This year, proceeds will benefit the Lone Survivor Foundation and with your help and generosity we hope to DOUBLE our donation from last year. The Lone Survivor Foundation is a wonderful charity that restores, empowers, and renews hope for our wounded service members and their families through health, wellness, and therapeutic support. With so many of you having ties to the military, we know this is just as important to you as it is to us. The event will consist of teams of three players with the fourth being an Active Duty member of the United States Air Force from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base here in Tucson. Like last year, the event will be a scramble golf event followed by a prize raffle and a delicious buffet lunch in the Grille. Good News from the Membership Office Trevor McLean from the Golf Shop is going to lead our 9 Hole Group each Wednesday Morning through August! Please sign up in advance by going to the Members Only site and clicking on Events, sign up under GWGA, 9 holes or just contact the Golf Shop directly at 520-744-4700. From now until the end of August we will play in the 7:30am GWGA shotgun, please check-in in the Golf Shop for your hole assignment!

On Friday, August 1st, the MWF Group hosted former UA standout and current LPGA Tour Player Alejandra LLaneza on the South Course where she was lucky enough to be paired with Mark McCue. Mark shot his individual course record from the Blue/Green Combo tees at 72, but Ale stole his thunder by making 7 birdies, hitting every fairway and missing only one green in regulation (#18), shooting a 66! Mr McCue declined photos and kept his comments to himself.
