Poème Crenn is a poetic fine dining experience envisioned for a historic building on East Houston Street in San Antonio. Housed in the 1880s Richardsonian Romanesque “Book Building,” this project honors the legacy of Dominique Crenn. Her restaurant is not only named in memory of her late father but also inspired by her own story of adoption and familial warmth. The design celebrates her French roots and innovative spirit, transforming food into art through immersive storytelling, emotional connection, and ever-evolving menus. At Poème Crenn, food becomes verse, and space becomes story. This restaurant reimagines French cuisine through Dominique Crenn’s poetic lens, each dish a memory. The design echoes her philosophy of nourishment as art, with textures and forms that recall ocean waves, childhood nostalgia, and the intimacy of shared meals.

MEMORY IN FORM

Inspired by Dominique Crenn’s philosophy that cuisine is a reflection of memory and journey, the restaurant translates personal history into spatial experience. Drawing from the rugged coastline of Brittany and her reverence for nature, the design embodies restraint, texture, and emotional depth. Wood, stone, and softened light create an environment that feels both grounded and intimate, where structure frames storytelling and materials echo landscape. This residence is envisioned as a poetic retreat for acclaimed chef Dominique Crenn, her wife Maria Bello, and their twin daughters. Located on the second floor of a historic building defined by arched corridors and warm stone walls, the home becomes a sanctuary shaped by memory, artistry, and belonging.

CREATIVE FOUNDATIONS

Growing up in my family’s auto body shop, repairing cars became an early lesson in patience, problem-solving, and hands-on craftsmanship. Working in construction and fabrication taught me to respect materials, structure, and the discipline required to make things endure. Photography sharpens my sensitivity to light, color, and atmosphere, while digital art and 3D printing allow me to experiment with form, texture, and precision.

These experiences are deeply woven into my design practice, shaping how I approach space, materiality, and storytelling with intention, authenticity, and care.
