OUC Villares

2020, B.ARCH THESIS PROJECT research & design; detailing;

SOROCABA, a city in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, faces socio-spatial challenges due to rapid urban growth, including inequality and urban segregation. This project proposes an urban intervention in the former Villares factory area, aiming to address:

1. Creation of a linear park along the Sorocaba River to enhance environmental quality and connectivity.

2. Implementation of a Central Station to improve urban mobility and access to the city.

3. Use of the Operação Urbana Consorciada (OUC) legal mechanism, regulated by the City Statute, to leverage private investments for public benefit, particularly in social housing development.

The proposed urban plan integrates regulatory tools and interventions to tackle long-term urban challenges, emphasizing the importance of sustainable and inclusive urban development.

NARROW HOUSE

2024, ARCHITECTURAL TECHNICIAN 02 TERM PROJECT design; detailing;

A CHALLENGE

to develop a house in a small and narrow lot 7.5 meters wide.

The answer to maintain maximum advantages was to take advantage of the building depth and explore a linear design for the floor plans, with a skylight on the vertical alignment of the building, which is the stairs, where natural daylight would flush and flow freely through the rooms.

NARROW HOUSE

SKYLIGHT

Efficiently brings natural light to all levels through the stairs core.

LINEAR DESIGN

Born out the challenge of the narrow lot, creating flow of natural daylight and amplitude in the socials spaces

FLEXIBLE ALTERNATIVES

Possibility to detach basement while maintaining the same operability.

URBAN BIKE STOP

THE MISSING LINK.

From a macro perspective, this small building was implemented on the west side of the site, to address the missing connection from east to west and not disturb the open and valuable space of the park, which will be considered as the courtyard for both existing building and proposed bike stop. From a micro perspective, the building was designed to complement the park - revitalizing the surroundings and inviting more users to this location.

URBAN BIKE STOP

LONG LIFE-CYCLE MATERIALS

a. Standing seam metal roof and siding 50 to 70 yrs

b. Wood-Framing construction with wood fibre insulation 100+ yrs

c. Helical Pile Foundation 100+ yrs

RAIN AND GRAYWATER REUSE

Collected to an underground cistern, buried below freezing grade

CROSS-VENTILATION

Through upper openings from one side of the building to the other

NATURAL SUNLIGHT

All rooms are provided with large openings to provide enough sunlight during the day. Skylight is placed in the core room of the building to provide extra natural light.

SOLAR PANELS

Located at the roof at the south side elevation for better efficiency, acting as a support to ease electrical consumption of the grid.

RAIN GARDEN

Located at the north side of the building, along the hill, to soak the rainwater and direct/protect the building.

BIRD HOME-OFFICE

2024, FUN STUFF design; detailing;

TWEET. In modern times, where remote work is a reality, have you ever wondered if this little guy needed a workspace at home, how would it look like?

2 CONTAINERS HOME

2021, FUN STUFF design; detailing;

RETHINK

how we occupy space. Re-use, recycle. For this study, two 40 ft shipping containers were transformed into a small, ephemeral, functional home.
