WHY WE MEET IN NORWAY
PUBLISH AND TRAIN
The CIPA programme in Norway brings together young people who are already active in journalism, media and storytelling.
The programme has two main goals: PUBLISH
We research, edit and publish stories about how children’s rights are implemented in diferent countries and communities.
TRAINING FOR WORLD LEADERS
Together, we will develop a new Training Day for World Leaders.
Young reporters will use their research, interviews and international examples to create a programme that helps politicians and other decision-makers listen to children, understand where children’s rights fail in practice and learn from people who are already making a diference.
The training will be guided by one central question: Who does what for children?
Together, we will decide which stories, questions and examples world leaders need to hear — and what concrete action we expect them to take.
WHAT IS ARENDALSUKA?
Arendalsuka is Norway’s largest annual political and democratic meeting place. For five days, politicians, journalists, researchers, organisations, businesses and citizens gather in the coastal city of Arendal for debates, events and public conversations. For young reporters, it ofers a unique opportunity to meet decision-makers, ask questions, publish stories and bring children’s perspectives into discussions about society’s most important issues.

Invitation to Become a ChildPress Correspondent
Dear young reporter,
This summer, our international editorial team will finalise the concept for a new weekly news programme, launching in September. Our ambition is to help set the agenda in council chambers and government meeting rooms around the world by asking one central question:
Who does what for children?
We are looking for at least one young correspondent in every country. Correspondents will report on the issues that matter to children, interview responsible people and highlight solutions that are already making a diference. They will also act as local ambassadors, helping us assess contributions from their country and supporting the quality and safety of our international network.
Join Us In Norway
The international team will begin its work on 4 August, both online and at the Children’s Rights Research Centre Utnes in Norway. Together, we will prepare stories and publications for Arendalsuka, develop a new Training Day for World Leaders and help shape the weekly ChildPress news programme.
During the programme, four participants may also be invited to form the new international youth board of CIPA.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
TRAVEL AND STAY
Fly to Kristiansand Airport, we will arrange pick-up and stay in contact through a WhatsApp group. Preferred arrival time: Tuesday August 4th, 17:45 or 22:55.
Accommodation and meals are provided. As the number of indoor beds is limited, some participants may stay in tents near the house.
Please bring:
● a laptop, when possible;
● your own towel;
● a sleeping bag, when available;
● a favourite recipe from your country.
There is no participation or accommodation fee. Participants must apply separately for possible travel support.

4–9 AUGUST
RESEARCH, TRAINING AND EDITING
At the Centre in Utnes, participants will:
● compare local findings;
● receive media and research training;
● prepare interviews and publications;
● work in international editorial teams;
● present the results of each day.
10–14 AUGUST
PUBLISHING AT ARENDALSUKA
During Arendalsuka, participants will interview decision-makers, publish their findings and take part in public conversations about children’s rights. august
