ADJUDICATOR // IAN McVEA
Ian McVea is an Irish-born, Texas-based photojournalist and photography educator.
Growing up in Ireland, India, South Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Ethiopia and Algeria, he developed a love for photographing the world around him. He joined the Fort Worth Star-Telegram in 1989 as a staff photographer, later becoming a photo editor and Director of Photography before leaving the paper in 2012.
McVea’s images have been published by Time, Newsweek, Life, NYT Magazine, USA Today, and Sports Illustrated – among others. His negatives are archived at UT Arlington.
McVea is an accredited member of the Royal Photographic Society, the Texas Photographic Society, the National Press Photographers Association, the American Society of Media Photographers, Fort Worth Professional Photographers Association, and the Association of Texas Photography Instructors.
He is happiest shooting black-and-white film with medium- and large-format cameras.

The exhibition offers students an opportunity to exchange ideas, receive due recognition, and display outstanding photography. The 2025 Black & White Images Publication was printed by Print World in Fort Worth, Texas. Fonts include Franklin Gothic ATF family. Cover stock and inside paper is 80# velvet.
