The School That Changes Everything

Regular online school doesn’t work for every learner. So we built something entirely different.

Fusion Global Academy is a live, 1-to-1 online private school for students who need more flexibility — whether they’re managing learning differences, chasing big dreams, or just need something more personalized.

Why 1-to-1 learning?

Unlike typical online programs, our classes are live and 1-to-1. That means real-time teaching, feedback, and mentorship in every single class.

We customize the curriculum and content to match your student’s unique pace and preferences. They will learn better, dive deeper, and never get left behind.

Fusion Global Academy is part of the nationally accredited Fusion Education Group, with over 80 in-person campuses and thousands of student success stories.

1-to-1 learning means:

- No one-size-fits-all lessons

- No hiding behind a muted mic

- No competing for the teacher’s attention

- Not just modules — mentors, guides, and human connection

- No fear of asking questions

- No rushing through before they’re ready

- No distractions

Why 1-to-1 education works

The challenges of learning in a traditional classroom

When a classroom (virtual or in-person) has 30 students, the teacher must teach to the middle. It’s impossible to pause for one student who’s struggling or move ahead with one who’s ready for more. Most online programs try to solve this with self-paced modules, but that often means students are left on their own without real-time support or connection. At Fusion Global Academy, we do things differently. Classes are live and 1-to-1, so students get a teacher who knows them, adapts to them, and is fully focused on their growth.

This isn’t online school as you know it. It’s personalized education, powered by 1-to-1 relationships and built for how your child learns best.

Fusion’s educational philosophy: love, motivate, teach

Our educational philosophy is Love, Motivate, Teach. It’s sequential on purpose.

The proven power of personalized education

The power of 1-to-1 validated by academic researchers:

- 1-to-1 education is a proven, effective strategy for increasing student learning outcomes.

(Fryer & Howard-Noveck, 2020)

- Personalized learning enables students to gain essential skills or concepts from past years that were missed or not fully covered.

(Zhou, Molfino, & Travers, 2021)

- Instructional approaches using 1-to-1 learning are particularly effective in supporting a wide range of learners, including students who have fallen behind academically.

(Nickow, Oreopoulos, & Quan, 2020; Robinson, Kraft, Loeb, & Schueler, 2021)

- 1-to-1 education during the school day leads to greater learning gains than after-school or summer interventions.

(Nickow, Oreopoulos, & Quan, 2020)

- Personalized learning enables students to progress 2-3x times faster than their peers academically.

(Robinson, Kraft, Loeb, & Schueler, 2021)

If a student was dis-engaged in a traditional school setting, they must be re-engaged in their educational journey.

They must first feel psychologically safe in their new school setting (love). They must believe in the relevance and meaning of their curriculum (motivate). Only then can our instructors effectively begin to teach.

Full-time, 1-to-1 learning

When families discover Fusion Global Academy, they realize they don’t have to choose between quality, flexibility, and connection

We offer it all — in a way traditional schools can’t. FGA’s full-time program offers students in grades 4-12 a truly personalized online education. Through live, 1-to-1 or small group classes with expert teachers, students receive individualized instruction tailored to their strengths, interests, and learning pace — ensuring they fully master each subject before progressing.

Our flexible scheduling allows students to learn when and where it works best for them. Whether that means a full school day with routine and structure, or a more flexible pace to fit around passions and priorities.

Customized academic support options

Our teachers provide 1-to-1 tutoring that can focus on your student’s current curriculum or general skill-building to prepare them for the next course or grade level. Tutoring sessions are customized to meet each student’s unique needs and learning preferences, ensuring deeper understanding and greater confidence.

Summer programs

All Fusion programming… before the upcoming school year — no matter where they’re located.

Meet our self-directed program: flexible, personalized, empowering

For motivated students who thrive with independence, our self-directed option offers the ultimate flexibility without compromising support or academics

Fusion Global Academy’s self-directed program is designed for students who are ready to take the ultimate ownership of their learning. Courses are text-based with interactive, audio, and visual supplements — so students aren’t just passively watching videos; they’re actively engaging with their learning.

Every student is paired with a qualified grader who monitors progress and provides feedback to fit the student’s goals. Self-directed students also have access to our Global Homework Café for connection, questions, and academic support.

Why families choose self-directed:

- Ultimate flexibility: 24/7 access to their courses; learn anytime, anywhere.

- Adaptable time commitment: Students typically spend approximately 5 hours per week per class, and can structure their learning as a full-time school day or as flexible as needed.

- Personalized: Feedback and pacing are tailored to each student. Works for remediation, acceleration, or a mix of both.

- Choice in enrollment: Students can take individual courses for credit or enroll fulltime, with the flexibility to mix self-directed learning and teacher-led courses.

Answer

1-to-1 learning is where students work live with a teacher, receiving real-time instruction and interaction. In our self-directed program, students learn via interactive, textbased courses independently at their own pace.

? ? ? ?

What is the difference between 1-to-1 learning and self-directed? Is self-directed learning personalized?

Answer

In terms of feedback and pacing yes! Even though students move through courses independently, they still receive personalized feedback from their graders. However, the lesson content itself is not personalized.

What type of student does self-directed work for?

Answer

Our self-directed program is best suited for students who are motivated and self-starting. It works well for students who prefer to set their own schedule, who want to move quickly through material they’ve mastered, or who need extra time to build skills at their own pace, independently.

Will my self-directed student still be part of the greater Fusion community?

Answer

Absolutely. Students in this program are full members of Fusion Global Academy. They can join clubs, events, and connect with peers and teachers in the Global Homework Café.

A school that fits your life

We’re the teachers, so you don’t have to be

We offer more than just flexibility. We provide full academic support, so you’re not left filling in gaps. Classes are taught live, 1-to-1 by a teacher who adapts the lesson to your student in real time. That means less stress at home, no late-night homework battles, and more confidence that your student is truly learning.

Plus, our flexible scheduling lets students learn when they’re most focused. Whether that’s early morning or in the evening — offering the structure of a typical school day or the freedom to create your own routine.

A partner for homeschooling families

For homeschooled students who don’t need full-time enrollment, Fusion Global Academy can supplement your child’s education with live, 1-to-1 classes taught by subject matter experts. Whether it’s advanced math support, help with college prep, or simply wanting to take a subject off your plate, we provide structure, accountability, and real-time instruction — all from the comfort of your kitchen table.

School on your terms

Structure when you need it, flexibility when you want it

Some students thrive on a consistent, full-time school day. Others need flexibility to balance learning with life. At Fusion Global Academy, both are possible. Families can build a schedule that mirrors a traditional school day or choose a more flexible approach with just a few classes per week.

However you design the school day, your student receives personalized attention, meaningful support in the Global Homework Café, and a clear path to success.

Beyond the classroom

Building connections, community, and friendships

While classes at Fusion Global Academy are 1-to-1, our online community offers plenty of ways for students to connect, make friends, and enjoy school beyond academics. Outside of class, students can explore The Global Neighborhood: our hub for clubs, events, contests, and community-building activities that enrich their school experience.

Fusion’s Global Community

Global Community is our initiative to connect students with peers worldwide. In our online spaces, students participate in shared activities, collaborative projects, and student-led events that foster a sense of community across the Fusion network.

Within weeks, our daughter was no longer fighting against school. She made friends, joined the social clubs, and even called school fun! It was a true transformation.

Student-led clubs and organizations:

Everything we do at Fusion Global Academy is personalized. This includes our clubs, groups, and social events. Clubs and groups are formed based on student interest, and a student can suggest a new club at any time. Our current clubs include:

- Student Government

- National Honor Society

- Music Club

- Gaming Club

- Writing Club

- Cozy Craft Nights

- Meditation Mondays

Virtual events and social activities:

Student events are planned by our Student Life team and are focused on socialemotional learning themes. We also offer events for parents and families, who we call our Global Guardians. Some examples of past and upcoming events we’ve hosted are:

- Winter Showcase

- Open Mic Night

- Global Pet Party

- Spirit Week

- Holiday Parties

Global meetups:

We love giving students the opportunity to gather in person, build friendships, and create lasting memories with their peers and teachers. Whether it’s a local meetup in your area or a larger event in a major city, these gatherings bring our online community to life.

Once tears of frustration. Now tears of joy.

Our Global Homework Café

Where homework is built into the school schedule

There’s nothing worse than ending a busy day with a homework battle at night. But at Fusion Global Academy, homework doesn’t have to be done during family time. For every scheduled class session, students have equal time on their schedule in our Global Homework Café. Students complete assignments in a dedicated virtual room, where they have access to teachers for questions and support. Open five days a week, we offer several unique spaces for students to get the focused support they need.

High School Café: A space for high school students to socialize and collaborate with their peers.

Middle School Café: Where middle schoolers can connect, collaborate, and build community with other students.

Math Meetups: Math can be a tough subject for many, so we have dedicated spaces for math homework help depending on what students need support with.

Social Studies Station: History and social studies homework is worked on here. We also host social science debates, current affairs discussions, and more.

Science Lab: Students can get help with any of their science homework and labs here.

English Corner: A welcoming space for students to get help with all things English and language arts.

What the tech? If a student is having tech trouble, they can hop into this tech support breakout room and quickly get the help they need.

Quiet Study Café: A quiet space for students to work on their coursework of any subject. Here, students are free to be off-camera or on mute if they need a break. We also have a direct chat option available for students who would like to type their requests or needs instead of speaking on camera.

The Hangout: When students are done with their homework, socializing can begin in The Hangout! In this space, students connect with peers from around the world through fun activities, games, and casual conversation — building friendships and a sense of community in a safe, supportive environment.

What types of students thrive at Fusion Global Academy?

A different way to learn for students who need flexibility

Fusion Global Academy is designed for students who need more than a typical school experience. In many online programs, students feel isolated or overlooked. But here, every class is taught in real-time, so students feel safe, heard, and supported. Our teachers build real relationships that foster both academic growth and social-emotional confidence. Whether your student needs flexibility, personalized learning, or a more caring environment, FGA meets them where they’re at and empowers them to reach their full potential.

Fusion Global Academy is a great fit for students who:

- Need extra support for learning, social, or emotional differences, including ADHD, anxiety, and more

- Benefit from a more personalized and caring learning environment

- Learn at a different pace than their peers, needing either more time or accelerated learning options

- Require a flexible schedule to travel, pursue other interests, manage health needs, or balance other personal commitments

- Feel most comfortable learning from home

As parents, we do not need to guess how our child is doing because we are updated daily! It is 100% worth investing in our children.
– Shay, Fusion parent

Daily progress updates, delivered to you

At Fusion, we believe parents should never be left in the dark about their child’s progress. That’s why we provide daily updates for every 1-to-1 class. Each update recaps the day’s material and shares insights from the teacher — like your student’s mood, milestones, and any areas of focus. No more waiting for report cards or surprises at parent-teacher conferences — Fusion’s daily feedback keeps you connected to your student’s progress.

You’ll also have access to our Parent Portal. This one-stop-shop to all things Fusion includes important announcements, upcoming assignments, your student’s weekly schedule, recently graded assignments, and more.

We believe that personalized learning benefits all students.

Therefore, we don’t require test scores or previous academic performance to enroll. What we do look for is a good fit. We meet with every family to understand their goals, challenges, and learning needs to ensure that our model is right for their student. If it is, we’ll build a custom plan to help your student thrive.

What your student gets with Fusion Global Academy, they won’t get elsewhere

Our live instruction, personalization, and community make all the difference

The world’s leader in personalized education since 1989

From our first campus in California to now serving 35 countries

In 1989, educator Michelle Rose Gilman founded Fusion Academy after seeing students continually struggle in the traditional classroom, no matter how much outside support they received.

Fully accredited for excellence

Nationally recognized, globally respected

Fusion Global Academy is accredited by Cognia (which includes NCA CASI, SACS CASI, and NWAC), MSA, and WASC. This ensures that our curriculum and personalized learning model meets the highest standards, providing students with transferable credits, widely recognized diplomas, and a seamless path to higher education. Fusion’s commitment to rigorous, ongoing accreditation reflects our dedication to educational excellence and the success of every student.

Every student learns so differently. So why do traditional schools teach them all the same?

What began as one campus in Solana Beach, California, Fusion is now a network serving more than 10,000 students worldwide. Despite the incredible growth, our mission has remained consistent — providing education that empowers every student to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

The perfect preparation for college & beyond

How we better prepare students for the real world

At Fusion Global Academy, students gain more than academic knowledge — they build the skills to thrive in any path they choose. With a foundation of self-advocacy, confidence, and personalized learning strategies, FGA graduates are ready to make their mark in college and beyond.

Our intentionally designed schedule mirrors the flexibility and independence of a college experience, helping students build time management and executive functioning skills. And because our students learn and collaborate in a fully virtual environment, they’re developing the digital communication skills and comfort with remote interaction that are increasingly essential in today’s colleges and workplaces.

In Fusion Global Academy’s 1-to-1 classes, our students:

- Learn how they learn best

- Gain the confidence to advocate for themselves

- Know how to speak with their teacher and ask for help
