We stopped by for a short time to see Bad Habit on New Years Eve at River City Casino and it was a packed house like every Bad Habit show!!! Then we headed down to Borgetti’s Bar & Grill to see some old friends and watch Nancy Holtman & Rock Ink bring in the New Year.
Next, on January 10th we headed out to the Mill in Granite City for a benefit for Police Officer Tyler Timmons. It was a great turn out for a good cause, and everyone had a great time.
We met two new bands, The Day Drinkers and SUPERNOVA. Our friends the Harvest Drive Band with Ray Warren were there and also rocked the house with their classic country!!!
If you get a chance check out the Mills advertisement every month in our Magazine. It’s a great venue and an awesome room for bands to play...

Welcome back Full Throttle readers! This month let’s talk about the Softail Breakout model and our first Custom Build Showcase with Full Throttle Magazine!
Harley-Davidson continues to push the boundaries of cruiser design with the Softail Breakout — a motorcycle that blends classic chopper aesthetics with modern performance. True to its name, the Breakout commands attention with its long, lean profile, aggressive stance, and powerful presence on the road.

At the heart of the Breakout is Harley-Davidson’s Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine, a massive air- and oil-cooled V-Twin that displaces 1,923 cc and delivers strong low-end torque. This powerplant produces around 101 hp and substantial torque, giving the Breakout effortless acceleration and plenty of grunt for highway cruising or rolling through town.
The Breakout’s styling draws heavily from traditional chopper cues, featuring raked front forks, a stretched wheelbase, and a wide 240 mm rear tire paired with a 21-inch front wheel — a combination that delivers both striking visuals and a planted feel at speed.

Despite its vintage inspiration, the Breakout incorporates several modern refinements. The Softail chassis cleverly hides the rear suspension to preserve a rigid-frame look while improving rigidity and reducing weight, balancing old-school styling with contemporary ride quality. Cast aluminum wheels with a 26-spoke design add visual flair, and an advanced braking system with ABS provides responsive stopping power in varied conditions.

Ergonomically, the Breakout leans toward a classic cruiser posture: low seat height, forward controls, and dragstyle handlebars give riders a commanding, laid-back stance perfect for relaxed highway runs. This machine excels in open-road cruising where its torque and presence shine.

Aesthetically, the 2024 Softail Breakout offers bold colorways like Blue Burst and Billiard Gray, along with polished chrome accents that enhance its premium look. Options such as LED lighting and electronic rider aids elevate the bike’s functionality without diluting its retro-inspired essence.
The Breakout sits at the higher end of the cruiser market, appealing to riders who value both style and substance. In essence, the Harley-Davidson Softail Breakout is a machine built for those who want to stand out — a modern chopper for the purist who revels in torque, sound, and unmistakable Harley heritage.

This Custom Build Showcase is from one of our customers who by no exaggeration had a lot of work done here at the shop!
This Breakout model is customized with:
Kodlin USA rear fender, Painted to match“Super Fat Flowbar” handlebars
Custom Saddlemen solo seat
Mini bullet rear turn signals
Black fork tubes
Black rocker box covers
Black cam cover
Bassani Pro street exhaust
This bike is Blacked out! Some pieces of chrome were left so they really stand out and draw the attention of the eye!
As always Thank you for reading! See you next month

A Harley-Davidson dyno graph visualizes your engine’s performance across its entire RPM range. While peak HP numbers are popular for “bragging rights,” the curve tells the real story of how the bike feels on the road. I often tell customers that when I get done tuning it, it wont have the max HP number possible but it will have the most useable power.

Torque (Seat of your pants): This is the twisting force you feel when you twist the throttle. For Harleys, a flat and broad torque curve is ideal because it provide consistent pulling power for cruising and passing.
Horsepower (Bragging): This is how fast that torque is applied. It typically starts low and climbs steadily as RPMs increase, peaking much later than torque.
The 5,252 Cross: On any standard graph where scales are equal, the HP and Torque lines will always intersect at exactly 5,252 RPM due to the mathematical formula.
Horizontal Axis (X): Represents Engine RPM. Most Harley tests run from roughly 2,500 RPM up to the redline Vertical Axis (Y): Most graphs use two scales: Horsepower (HP) on one side and Torque (lb-ft) on the other.

The “Torque Dip”: A common thing you see is largely due to short exhaust or aggressive camshafts (HP Cam) where the torque curve drops between 2,500 and 3,500 RPM.

So now that you know what you are looking at. What do you want to see? Well every tuner will be different. I shoot for a long straight torque curve in the RPM that you spend your time riding in.
As always thanks for you time I hope you learned something. Mac
