The handover of multipurpose room
On March 1st, 2023, the second Providencia Conecta room will be delivered, which seeks to facilitate access and appropriation of ICT tools in communities within the area of influence of Providencia. On this occasion, approximately 3,600 inhabitants of the Amaime township (Palmira) will benefit.
The room will be located at the Semilla de la Esperanza (Seed of Hope) School, in the primary
The room has twenty computers, integrated sound, a video projector, and rolling whiteboards. In addition to facilitating classes for students, this space will be open to the community during non-class hours and on weekends for consultations, meetings, courses, and training.
In this way, Providencia seeks to continue contributing to the generation of training spaces that allow people to connect with the world and prepare for employment in the field of STEM (Science, Technology,
We participated in BIOFACH 2023
BIOFACH is the place where people share their passionate interest in organic food, meet and exchange views, and have been doing so since 1990.
Between February 14th and 17th, the most important organic products fair, Biofach, was held in Nuremberg, Germany.
For the second consecutive year, we were present at the ProColombia booth with our organic sugar. We fulfilled our main objectives: to elevate the Providencia brand in the European market, to make ourselves known to new companies, and to conduct commercial management with our current customers

Colombia is globally recognized for having an extensive ecological diversity of flora and fauna. Its tropical geographic position makes it a unique country in the world where the Andes divide into three mountain ranges, bathed by two oceans: the Pacific and the Atlantic. There are desert areas in La Guajira, extensive savannas in the Llanos (The Plains), and the list goes on, with multiple ecosystems that develop majestically throughout the country.
In fact, part of the pride of being Colombian is to recognize everything that nature has gifted us with, the richness of our territory, its abundance, occupying the third place as the most biodiverse country, according to Colombia's Biodiversity Information System (SIB), and the first place in species of butterflies, orchids, and birds.
Regarding birds, we have 1,940 species, corresponding to 20% of those existing worldwide. Being a megadiverse country is a gift that entails the sensibility of recognizing, valuing, and conserving not only birds but also, very importantly, their habitats. At Providencia, we understand firsthand the responsibility of conserving the ecosystems and natural resources that we impact, such as water, soil, and air. We have almost 100 years of history in which we have been characterized by respect and love for the planet, the species it harbors, and their conservation, remaining faithful to our mission of relating to the world in a conscious manner, creating a climate of sweet prosperity in economic, social, and environmental matters.
Likewise, at Providencia, we know that one way to measure the health of ecosystems is through the diversity of birds found within them. That's why we are committed to adopting these metrics by establishing biological corridors within our sugarcane crops. We initiated this program more than 22 years ago to guarantee the production of organic sugar.
Nowadays, we know that it is necessary to promote, from different social spheres, a development model that takes nature into account as an asset for building a sustainable future for future generations. In this context, since 2018, we have worked with great dedication and conviction at Providencia Parque Ecológico (Providencia Ecological Park), a sanctuary for life where we preserve biodiversity and the care of certain endemic species of the Valle del Cauca (Cauca Valley).
This ecological sanctuary has as its main objective to contribute to the sustainability of the Amaime River basin and the protection of the flora and fauna present in the 514 hectares that make it up. Thanks to this project, we have facilitated natural regeneration and assisted restoration of forests, where emblematic species such as the Wax Palm germinate, as well as other endemic tree species endangered such as the Black Cedar, Pink Cedar, Colombian Oak, Laurel, Comino, and Molinillo Palm.
Today, with great pride, we also affirm that we are carrying out an ecological restoration process of 100 hectares of Tropical Dry Forest, protecting 30 water sources and more than 450 species of flora.
Regarding the projects that have been carried out in Providencia Dulzura Sostenible (Providencia Sustainable Sweetness) in terms of education, we have been able to benefit many children and young people in our neighboring communities on an annual basis.
