ABOUT THE ARTIST Hailed for his “mastery, precision, and passion”, Dr. Dominic Muzzi maintains a multifaceted career as a concert pianist, educator, and collaborator. Having attained over a dozen top prizes and gold medals in domestic and international competitions, he has received rave reviews for his “masterful tonal control” and “superb musicianship… a tour de force of technical prowess.” Muzzi began playing the piano by ear at the age of three. Shortly thereafter, he began performing locally in his childhood home of central Florida, giving his first full-length public solo recital at the age of eleven. Muzzi earned the Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Florida State University, and Master’s and Doctoral degrees from Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, all with academic distinction. Over the last decade he has built an international presence, earning the Gold Medal at the 68th Wideman International Piano Concerto Competition and first prize at the National finals of the Music Teachers National Association’s Young Artist Competition. Muzzi was awarded second Prize in the 2022 National Society of Arts and Letters’ Piano Competition, advancing to the national finals in Chicago, where he was awarded the Robert Milton and Joanne-Dingwell Hanson Prize and Bronze Medal. As a soloist, Muzzi has performed widely across the United States and Europe, enjoying overwhelmingly successful debuts with the Shreveport Symphony, The Villages Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony New Hampshire. In 2023, Dominic was invited to return to Indiana University as a guest artist, performing Bohuslav Martinů’s first piano concerto with the Ballet Company in IU’s Musical Arts Center. Muzzi joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in the Spring of 2023, where he currently serves as a keyboard musician. Before relocating to the nation’s capital, Muzzi served for two years in the U.S. Army as a pianist attached to the 100th Army Band at Ft. Knox, Kentucky. In 2026, Muzzi performed his first solo with the United States Marine Band’s Chamber Orchestra, presenting Olivier Messiaen’s Des canyons aux étoiles for the United States’ 250th Anniversary Celebrations. Muzzi joined the faculty of the Washington Conservatory of Music in 2024. As a teacher, Muzzi has prepared students for winning auditions at the Jacobs School of Music, The Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins, The Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, The San Francisco Conservatory, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München, and others.
