ABOUT THE GUEST ARTIST William Goodwin is a native of Seattle, Washington. As an accomplished violinist and violist, he has performed and led master classes throughout the US, Europe, Taiwan, and South America. He is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music and FSU College of Music. As an orchestral violist, he led the viola section of the Ulster Orchestra in Belfast, NI, where he was featured as soloist on several BBC broadcast performances. He served as Principal Violist of the Tampa Opera Orchestra, and has also performed with the Orchestras of Charleston, Tampa, Sarasota, and Naples, FL, and Seattle. As recipient of a Chamber Music America grant, William served as Artist-in-Residence at Western Kentucky University. He subsequently was Assistant Professor of Violin at Eastern Kentucky University, where he performed as violinist in the Arlington Piano Trio. He has also served as a member of the Kozmik and Lindsayan String Quartets William Goodwin has performed at festivals both nationally and internationally, including Chamber Music of the Black Hills, Lowcountry Chamber Music Festival, Orlando Philharmonic Sounds of Summer, Strings in the Mountains, Florida Arts Festival, Luzerne Music Center, The Taipei String Seminar, and the COFES festival held in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Having returned to his native Seattle, he now performs as a recitalist and chamber musician, while also serving as Principal Viola of the Seattle Collaborative Orchestra, which places special emphasis on performing neglected works by female and minority composers. In his spare time, he enjoys the trees, water, and mountains of the Pacific Northwest.
