The Commemoration of Archangel Michael. عيد رئيس المالئكة الجليل ميخائيل 19th June - 12th Baouna بؤونة12 - يونية19 On this day, the church celebrates the commemoration of the honorable Archangel Michael, فــى مثــل هــذا اليــوم تحتفــل الكنيســة intercessor of the human race. The one who ap- بتــذكار رئيــس جنــد الســماء المــاك peared to Joshua the son of Nun, encouraged him, الجليــل ميخائيــل الشــفيع فــي جنــس and told him, “Nay, but as captain of the hosts of البشــر الــذي ظهــر ليشــوع بــن نــون the Lord am I now come.” He made the city of . « وقــال لــه « أنــا رئيــس جنــد هللا Jericho to fall into his hands, and he stopped the وعضــده وحطــم العمالقــة وأســقط مدينــة sun for him. .أريحــا فــي يــده وأوقــف لــه الشــمس May his intercession be with us. She was the wife of a man who feared God, نياحة القديسة اوفومية and gave much alms. He kept three festivals each فــى مثــل هــذا اليــوم تنيحــت القديســة month: the commemoration of the angel Michael, أوفيميــة وكانــت زوجــة لرجــل يتقــي on the twelfth day(1); the commemoration of the وكان يهتــم.هللا ويعمــل صدقــات كثيــرة Mother of God (Theotokos), on the twenty-first بثالثــة أعيــاد كل شــهر وهــي تــذكار day; and the commemoration of the Nativity of المــاك ميخائيــل فــي الثانــي عشــر our Lord, on the twenty-ninth day of each month. وتــذكار والــدة اإللــه فــي الحــادي، When the day of his departure drew near, he com- وتــذكار الميــاد المجيــد، والعشــرين manded his wife, to keep this custom, to not stop ولمــا دنــت. فــي التاســع والعشــرين the giving of alms, and to do the acts of charity ســاعة وفاتــه أوصــي زوجته بحفــظ هذه
العــادة وأن ال تقطــع عمــل الصدقــات especially on these three festivals. He painted a picture of the honorable angel Michael and gave it خصوصــا فــي األعيــاد الثالثــة ، فأحضــرت صــورة المــاك ميخائيــل to her. After the departure of her husband, she continued وبعــد وفــاة زوجهــا ثابــرت علــي تنفيذ to fulfill his will. Satan was jealous of her, and he فحســدها الشــيطان وأتاهــا، وصيتــه came to her disguised as a monk, who talked to her وجعــل يحدثهــا، فــي شــكل راهــب expressing his pity for her. He advised her to get ويؤكــد لهــا أنــه مشــفق عليهــا ثــم married, to bring forth children, and to refrain from أشــار عليهــا أن تتــزوج لتــرزق أوالدا doing charitable deeds lest she finish her money. وان تكــف عــن عمــل الصدقــات لئــا He told her also that her husband had received the ينفــذ مالهــا وقــال لهــا ان زوجــك قــد Kingdom and he had no need of the alms giving. نــال الملكــوت فــا يحتــاج إلــى صدقــة She answered saying, “I have vowed not to consort فأجابتــه قائلــة أننــي قطعــت مــع with another man after my husband.” She went on نفســي عهــدا بــأن ال التصــق برجــل بعــد زوجــي وزادت بقولهــا إذا كانــت saying, “If birds as the doves and the ravens do not take second mates, how then can men who are الطيــور كاليمــام والغربــان ال تعــرف created in the form and likeness of God do this?” فأولــي بالبشــر. ذكــرا آخــر بعــد األول الذيــن خلقــوا فــي صــورة هللا ومثالــه The devil left her angry. When the feast of the Angel had come, and she had فتركهــا الشــيطان، أن يكونــوا هكــذا . غاضبــا prepared all what she needed as her custom, Satan appeared to her in the form of an angel and said to ولمــا أتــي يــوم عيــد المــاك وقــد her, “Peace be to you, the angel Michael has sent جهــزت كل مــا يلــزم كعادتهــا me to you, commanding you to cease from these ظهــر لهــا الشــيطان فــي زي مــاك alms, and to marry a believing man.” Then he told وأعطاهــا الســام قائــا ان المــاك her, “A woman without a man is like a ship without ميخائيــل أرســله إليهــا يأمرهــا أن a captain,” and he began to bring her proofs out of تتــرك الصدقــات وتتــزوج برجــل the Holy Bible in regard of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, مؤمــن ثــم قــال لهــا ان امــرأة بــدون رجــل كســفينة بغيــر رئيــس وصــار David, and others like them who married wives and pleased God. She replied saying, “If you are يــورد لهــا مــن الكتــاب المقــدس أدلــة an angel of God, where is the Cross, the symbol of عــن إبراهيــم واســحق ويعقــوب وداود your military service? For the soldier of the King وغيرهــم ممــن تزوجــوا وأرضــوا هللا never goes to any place without this symbol with فأجابتــه قائلــة ان كنــت مــاك هللا فأيــن him.” When Satan heard these words from her, he الصليــب عالمــة جنديتــك الن جنــدي returned to his original form, and jumped on her to الملــك ال يخــرج إلــى مــكان إال ومعــه choke her. She cried for the angel Michael, whose فلمــا ســمع منهــا هــذا. هــذه العالمــة الــكالم عــاد إلــى شــكله األول ووثــب feast she was celebrating, and he delivered her immediately from him. The angel Michael told her, فاســتغاثت. عليهــا يريــد خنقهــا “Go and arrange your affairs, for you shall depart بالمــاك ميخائيــل صاحــب العيــد فخلصهــا فــي الحــال ثــم قــال لهــا هيــا from this world today. And behold the Lord has prepared for you what eye has not seen, and ear hasرتبــي أمــورك ألنــك فــي هــذا اليــوم not heard, nor has it occurred to the heart of man,” تنتقليــن مــن هــذا العالــم وقــد اعــد لــك then he gave her the greeting of peace, and went up الــرب مــا لــم تــره عيــن وال ســمعت بــه أذن ولــم يخطــر علــي قلــب بشــر into heaven. After, St. Euphemia had celebrated the feast of the وأعطاهــا الســام وصعــد إلــى الســماء angel Michael, she sent for the father the bishop أمــا القديســة فأنهــا بعــد انتهــاء العيــد اســتدعت إليهــا األب األســقف والكهنة and the priests. She gave them all her money to give to the poor and the needy. Then, she took the وســلمت لهــم أموالهــا لتوزيعهــا علــي Picture of the honorable angel Michael and prayed المحتاجيــن ثــم تنيحــت بســام صالتها تكــون معنــا آميــن before it. She laid it upon her face and breast, then تذكار رئيس المالئكة الجليل departed in peace. »جبرائيل «غبريال May his intercession be with us and Glory be to بؤونة13 - يونية20 God forever. Amen.
The Commemoration of the Archangel Gabriel, فــي هــذا اليــوم جــرت العــادة بالديــار the Announcer of Daniel the Prophet. المصريــة أن تعيــد للمــاك الجليــل 20th June - 13th Baouna جبرائيــل الــذي بشــر دانيــال برجــوع On this day also, the church in Egypt celebrates a بنــي إســرائيل وبمجــيء الســيد feast for the honorable angel Gabriel. The angel كمــا أعلمــه. المســيح ووقــت مجيئــه Gabriel announced Daniel with the return of the بأنــه يقتــل وتخــرب بعــد ذلــك مدينــة children of Israel from captivity, the coming of the أورشــليم وال يأتــي بعــده إال المســيح Lord Christ, the time of His coming, that He would الكــذاب وهــذا المــاك هــو الــذي be killed, the destruction of Jerusalem, and that no بشــر زكريــا بــوالدة يوحنــا وبعــد other Messiah would come after Him except the ســتة أشــهر أتــي ببشــارة الخــاص anti-Christ. This angel is the one who announced to للعالــم عندمــا بشــر العــذراء قائــا Zachariah the birth of John, and six months later, « هــا أنــت ســتحبلين وتلديــن أبنــا he came with the glad tidings of the salvation of the وتســمينه يســوع هــذا يكــون عظيمــا world when he announced to the Virgin Mary say- وابــن العلــي يدعــي ويملــك علــي ing, “And behold, you will conceive in your womb بيــت يعقــوب وال يكــون لملكــه and bring forth a Son, and shall call His name ) ولهــذا33 – 31 : 1 نهايــة» (لــو JESUS. تأمالت في إنجيل القداس Contemplations on the Liturgy Gosاألحد الثاني من شهر بوؤنة المبارك pel ٢٦--١٧:٥ لو ٢٦ Second Sunday of Baouna اإلنسان أيها «فلما رأى إيمانهم قال Luke 5: 17 – 26 ٢٠:٥لو ٢٠:٥ لو »خطاياك مغفورة لك “When He saw their faith, He said to him ُ أوالد علم ت المحبة أعمال الخدمة عمل من ِ Man, your sins are forgiven you” Luke 4:20 ً هللا أن يكونوا خداما تالميذه الرب علم وقد Service is an act of Love which train the أن من أراد أن يصي َر تلميذاً أوالً البد أن children of God to be true servants. The يصي َر خادما ً أوالً وهكذا كان القديسون Lord told His Disciples that “whoever ُمنذ القديم فى حياتِهم هم في الواقع خدام wants to become great among you must be وباألخص هؤالء الذين كانوا في مراكز your servant” (Mat 20:26). At one night she felt that she reached شئ إال صلبان بعضها كبير وبعضها صغير to her limit and cannot take it anymore. ووقف إلى جوارها الرب يسوع يقول لها أعطيني صليبك الثقيل جدا واختاري لِنفسك She started to pray crying bitterly asking the Lord to take her out of this cruel life. صليبا آخر من هذه الصلبان وكادت تَطير At that night she had a dream. She saw من الفرح وأسرعت بوضع صليبها بين يدي السيد المسيح وأخذت تَنتقى لنفسها صليبا herself in a big room full of crosses of ْ خفيفا ووجدت واحدا صغيرا ويبدو أنهُ خفيف many sizes. The Lord was there calming وما أن َرفعته حتى أحست أنه ثقي ٌل جدا وإذ به her down and asked her to lay down her سن مبكرة صليب شابة أصيبت بال ُكساح في ٍ cross and choose another one. Holy Apostles Fasting Tomorrow Monday 13th June the Holy Apostles tasting starts directly after we celebrate the Holy Feast of Pentecost. The Fasting is continuing until 12th July which is the east of Martyrdom of St Peter and Paulthe feast of the Holy Apostles. This fasting has been ordered by the Lord Himself when He was asked by the Pharisees why His disciples do not fast as St John’s disciples. The Lord told them that when the Bridegroom is taken from them they will fast. This was pointing to the Resurrection and Ascension of our Lord. The Lord also ordered His disciples not to leave Jerusalem until they are filled with the Holy Spirit. So, the day of Pentecost is truly the day of a start for the new church. The Birthday of the church of New Testament. That is why the church who feels as stranger in this world is carrying the Cross following the Lord. Fasting is also a sign of carrying the Cross in rejection to the world pleasures. We have also witnessed His Resurrection and Ascension and looking forward for His Second Coming. Let us follow the steps of our Lord declaring and witnessing for His Salvation on the Cross on the way to get united with her Bridegroom.

How could your family be a blessed one? The Sermon of H.H. Pope Tawadros II on Tue 31-5-2022 from St. Demiana’s Monastery

Tomorrow, we celebrate the entry of the Holy Family into Egypt in the first century AD, who remained there for three years, six months and ten days. It roamed Egypt from east to west and from north to south, stopping at many stations (about 25 stations), visiting and performing miracles. I want to talk to you today about how could your family be blessed? How do we live the idea of the family as wanted by Christ? St. John Chrysostom has a beautiful phrase: “The family is an icon of the Church.” When a church building is finished, we decorate it with icons. So as well each family is an icon that beautifies the church. Is your home really a good icon, or a distorted and neglected one? + Christ is the origin of the family: We believe that the marriage bond is between a man and a woman, with Christ in the midst of them. Therefore, the marriage bond is threefold. On the day of the crowning, you returned home as three people, not two, you became bound with Christ. Is Christ happy with you and your homes? Christ is the be- ginning of the family, as if Jesus Christ holds the husband’s hand and the wife’s hand, and both spouses hold one each other’s; this is what makes the marriage bond a strong one in the presence of Christ. That is why we believe in the unity of marriage, being married to one partner, and we believe in the permanence of marriage and that it can only be dissolved by sin or death. We also believe that every marriage has fruits, whether children, virtues, or services. We never believe that Christian marriage is infertile. How then can our homes and families be sacred and blessed? + (1) Love: God gave us love as human beings “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (John 3:17). When a person mar- ries and has children, he takes from Christ’s love and presents to his family and this love is not only in words. The survival of life is through the true love that God puts in our hearts. Love is a very important passion, and passion is a blessing from our Lord. The family is the entity of love. And if you love your sons and daughters with a true love, they will grow up knowing God. However, if love is absent, treating your children harshly, then the boy or girl will have a bad image of God. The bible says that “One who is full loathes honey from the comb (1),” the satiated soul of love in the home, so no matter what the temptations may be, children wouldn’t fall. The rightly-built house is built on the love of God, and fills its members with love. It is the father’s responsibility to contain his wife and children. Love, my beloved, means that I for- give the other when he has done wrong to me, whether a partner or children. As love means to forget the abuse; this is the love of Christ who forgave us on the cross despite our sins and weaknesses, and does not reproach anyone (as he did with the Samaritan and Zacchaeus). Then, show your love clearly to your children, so as to live a happy life and make their childhood a lovely and a joyful one. One of the very important expressions to convey love is cuddling. Hug your children, so that they are satisfied with your
passion of love. Your hugs send them a direct message that they are of great value to us, and we are pleased with them. + (2) Conversation: Dialogue and conversation is complementary to love. What a person enjoys most is to speak with whom he loves, because man is a speaking being, God has given him the gift of speech in order to convey thoughts and feelings. So, what is the quality of your words with your family? Do you schedule time to talk with them? There should be a dialogue be- tween family members at least half an hour a day, without being preoccupied with the mobile phone, or problems or etc. When we talk we know each other more. Teach your children to have con- versation with you and how to apologize when they make a mistake. Dialogue between adults and children is based on love. Our problem is that people may enter the dialogue as if in a fight! There is a dialogue, then there is a quarrel and a wall between us, that is, I speak but none answers! We read in the Gospels: ““Come now, let us settle the matter, says the Lord (2).” Men are naturally not talkative, whereas women are the opposite. Male does not like details, but female elaborates on them. This difference is natural, so they must be understood by one another. Learn to listen to your children also and do not interrupt them, but respect their feelings. Dialogue begins with love, grows with love, and continues with love. If you are a husband or wife or son or daughter, old or young, you need to take care of the other, and say a word of encouragement, a prayer, a kind word to them...we all need this. (3) Freedom: Freedom does not mean disorder and chaos. There must be a margin of freedom. Whatever your son or daughter does, cuddle them to keep them safe. Give them some freedom, teach your children to have a personality in the community where they live, to be able to express them- selves, and have the ability to choose, thus when they grow up they can make right decisions. Freedom is linked to our Christian life and to the civil law where you live. When you stress your children, the result is that they hide their private affairs from you, making multi- ple mistakes that may grow with them even they may leave the house. So, you are the reason if you do not know how to embrace and contain your children. Freedom means respect for the other, even if he makes a mistake. Freedom means guidance, so guide your son to the right path. Freedom means to act positively. Freedom means attention, respect, guidance, positivity and concern. For example, teach your children to choose dignified outfit that are appropriate for the place. Playing outfits are different from those for the Mass, summer vacation and at home... Teach them not to be tempted by everything trendy, but to do the right thing. We must pay attention to much stuff while we are raising our children, and let us remember the saying of the Bible: ““I have the right to do anything”—but I will not be mastered by anything (3)”. Love, conversation and freedom are the hallmarks that your family is holy and a blessed one. May God bless every home and every family. To our God be all glory and honor from now and forever, Amen. التعفف أحد ثمار الروح القدس نيافة األنبا باخوميوس مطران البحيرة ومطروح وشمال أفريقيا ونحن نحتفل بتذكار عيد آبائنا الرسل ،نتذكر كلمات معلمنا بولس الرسول لفيلكس الوالي إذ كان واقفًا أمامه للمحاكمة ،يتكلم بكلمة الخالص ،مهت ًما بنجاة الوالي وخالصه ،متح ّدثًا عن اإليمان والبرّ والتعفُّف 25 ::24 (أع24 والدينونة (أع ).والدينونة ). وفي الكتاب يمكننا أن نميّز بين موضوعين علّم عنهما معلمنا بولس ،الكنيسة ،وهما :ثمار الروح التي ٌ فرحٌ ،سال ٌم ،طو ُل أنا ٍة ،لُ ٌ إيمان، صالحٌ، طفَ ، وح فهوَ :م َحبَّةٌَ ، كتب عنها ألهل غالطية «وأ ّما ثَ َم ُر الرّ ِ عةٌ ،ت َعفُّ ٌ ،)22ومواهب الروح القدس وتشمل التدبير والخدمة والشفاء والتحدث بالسنة ،)22 ::5 ف» (غل5 ودا َ .11ويمكننا ان نميز بينهما ببساطة، كورنثوس.11 1كورنثوس وغيرها من المواهب التي تكلم عنها في رسالته 1 فالمواهب هي نِ َعم مجانية يمنحها هللا ألوالده ألجل بنيان الكنيسة ،وهي ال تُعطى ألجل برّ اإلنسان، ووجودها أو غيابها ال يؤثر في خالص اإلنسان الشخصي .أ ّما ثمار الروح القدس فهي ثمار تظهر في حياة اإلنسان المسيحي بسبب عمل نعمة هللا في اإلنسان ،لكنها أيضً ا تحتاج لجهاد اإلنسان الروحي بال .انقطاع ،وسعيه أن يعيش في حياة البر .انقطاع، ...وأحد ثمار الروح هي ثمرة التعفف ...وأحد ّ ّ ّ والتعفّف قد يظنه البعض أنه أمر يتعلق فقط بعفة الجسد وطهارته ...لكن ثمرة التعفف هي أشمل من هذا المفهوم القاصر ،فالتعفّف هو ثمرة تتعلق بحياة اإلنسان كلها ،وتفحص كل جوانب حياة اإلنسان التي نصلي عنها في صالة النوم« :يا رب ،جميع ما أخطأنا به إليك ...إن كان بالفعل أو بالقول أو بالفكر أو .بجميع الحواس ..فاصفح واغفر لنا» .لذلك تحتاج ان نراجع بعض المفاهيم التي تخصّ ثمرة التعفّف .بجميع الفعل :وهي ال تعني فقط االمتناع عن الشهوات الجسدية ،لكنها أيضً ا تشمل عفة العمل في كل ما )1عفة الفعل: )1 تمتد إليه يدك ،فال تصنع شرً ا ،وال تقبل ً مااًل حرا ًما ،بل تمتد يدك بالخير للمشاركة في كل ما يمجد الرب. وال تسلك طريقًا يؤدي إلى الهالك .وحفظ مشاعرك نقية ،مشار ًكا للجميع في أفراحهم وأحزانهم بطهارة ونقاوة .كما أيضً ا بالضرورة تلتزم بعفة الجسد التي هي أكثر خطية تحزن قلب الرب وتجلب غضبه ،كما حدث في مدينة سدوم وعمورة .وهي أيضا ال تعني الحرص من العالقات الجسدية المباشرة ،ولكن أيضً ا الحرص من المشاهدات الغير نقيه على الفضائيات وشبكات اإلنترنت ،فهي تسلب اإلنسان تعفّفه حتى .وإن كان لم يتمم الخطية بالفعل .عفة الفعل أيضً ا تشمل مهارة استخدام الوقت فيما يفيد وما يبني .وإن القول :وهي ال تعني ّأاّل تتفوّ ه بألفاظ جسدية غير نقية فقط ،لكنها أيضً ا تشمل القدرة على ضيط )2عفة القول: )2 الحديث بكل صورة ،فال تصير لغتك تشبه لغة أهل العالم ،بل تصير لغتك تظهر أنك مسيحي ،تعرف متى تتكلم وكيف ولماذا تتكلم ،وبأي كلمات تتكلم ،لكي تكون كلماتك بحكمة وللبنيان دائ ًما ،فال تَطُل كلماتك .اآلخرين بذ ٍّم أو إدانة ،فكل إنسان لمواله ،وأنت لم يقمك هللا ديّانًا للناس ،بل شري ًكا لهم في اإلنسانية .اآلخرين الفكر :وهي أيضً ا ال تعني ّأاّل ينشغل فكرك بالشهوات الجسدية فقط ،بل تمتد لتشمل كل فكر ال )3عفة الفكر: )3 يرضي الرب ،فالفكر دائ ًما يترجم حالة القلب ،والقلب النقي ينشئ فكرً ا طاهرً ا ،وال يحمل أفكار إدانة إلنسان ،يحب الكل بنقاوة من قلب طاهر فوق مستوى الجسد .كما أنه فكر ال يخطّط إليذاء اآلخرين أو اإلضرار بهم أو بحياتهم .فكر ال يبحث عن كرامته وذاته ووضعه الخاص ،بل يعلم أن من أراد أن يكون ً . .أواًل ليكن آخر الجميع أواًل الحواس :وتشمل حرص االنسان على نقاوة مشاهداته ،وكل ما يصل ألذنيه ،والحرص على عدم ))4عفة الحواس: 4 التنصُّ ت على خصوصيات اآلخرين ،والحرص من اللمسات الغير نقية ،ورفض اللمسات التي تتعدى حدود اللياقة في المعامالت ووسائل المواصالت ،والحرص أيضً ا في االهتمام بالمظهر الخارجي ..فال ً جمياًل ،بل أن يحرص ّأاّل يخدش مظهره نقاوة اآلخرين .يكفي أن يكون اإلنسان .يكفي لذلك مع احتفالنا بعيد اآلباء الرسل ،لنتذكر دائ ًما أن ثمر الروح يحتاج لجهاد اإلنسان الشخصي المستمر .إلى جانب مساندة النعمة اإللهية له .إلى
Parish Board of Deacons Elections Dioceses of Melbourne Sunday 3RD July 2022 أنتخابات مجالس شمامسة الكنائس أيبارشية ملبورن ٢٠٢٢ يولية٣ األحد The Parish Board of Deacons is a group of servants elected by the congregation to assist the priests and the congregation with their services. They play an important and vital role in the life of the parish, taking on the role of governance and management of the parish affairs. People called to this ministry contribute significantly to the wellbeing and growth of the parish. It is one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit St Paul mentions in 1 Corinthians 12:28. Under the Diocese Parish Constitution, the normal 3-cycle for the Parish Board of Deacons will commence starting on lSt May with the elections on the 3RD of July 2022. The Parish Board of Deacons consist of Six elected members and 1 co-opted member. Two of the members must be less than 35-years of aged. To nominate for the parish Board of Deacons, you must be an ordained Deacon at the rank of epsaltos and above, a person of good character, in good standing with the church and older than 21 years of age. Commencing lSt of May 2022, nominations forms for the Board of Deacons will be available. The Nominee and six other members of the parish must sign the nomination form and deliver them to the Senior Parish Priest. The Preliminary List of Candidates will be published on 29Th May 2022 and members of the community have 14 days to raise concerns regarding any candidates to Rev Fr Paul Awad, the Diocese Returning Officer. The Final List of Candidates will be Published on Sunday 19Th June 2022 with the elections held on Sunday, 3Rd July 2022 following the last Liturgy. Member of the parish, who regularly attend that parish and are 18 year or older are eligible to vote.
