HOSTED BY: JOE KOZIARA

When you hear that guides from South Florida are traveling to a Tarpon destination, it tends to grab your attention. It hits differently. On my first visit to No Name Lodge, I was blown away by the beauty of the island, but also the packs of juvenile Tarpon ripping through schools of bait, the big forked tails of Permit tipping down to pluck crabs from the reef, and the conversation and camaraderie of the guides and staff. I couldn't wait to return.
Located in the Southwest corner of the island of Puerto Rico, the village of Boqueron is home to a few thousand residents, countless hungry tarpon, and No Name Lodge. The fishing here is centered on two outstanding species, with Tarpon and Permit both found in great numbers. Anglers of all skill levels will enjoy the variety of fishing at No Name Lodge, with plentiful shots at aggressive, mid-sized Tarpon being the main attraction, and the options of technical wade-fishing for tailing Permit or chasing larger Tarpon being available for those with the skills and the nerve to take them on. On top of thrilling fishing, there is an ease and convenience to this program that makes it especially interesting to many of us U.S. -based travelers. No passport is required for U.S. Citizens to travel to Puerto Rico, and no customs to deal with on the outbound or return. For guests that may not have the full array of big-game tackle, the lodge provides top-shelf equipment for guest use.
Joe Koziara has been with Frontiers for 10 years and has experience in a number of saltwater destinations, including US, Mexico, Bahamas, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Christmas Island, and the Seychelles. Currently, Joe handles the America West/ Lower 48 Freshwater, Central America Bluewater, and the Puerto Rico programs.
Joe is a lifelong outdoors enthusiast and has been a passionate fly angler for over 30 years. He enjoys exploring small streams for wild trout and chasing small mouth bass on local creeks and rivers. Joe lives in Western Pennsylvania with his wife, children, and Vizsla.
Each day, you can expect short runs on modern skiffs. Fishing at No Name Lodge will feel familiar to anyone who has fished South Florida. In the evenings, guests experience the local cuisine, and culture of Puerto Rico. Although dinners are not included in the package price, the meals and beverages are delicious and affordable. Although dinners are not included in the package price, the meals and beverages are delicious and affordable. Guests are free to branch off and enjoy the local nightlife on thier own, or you can stay with your guide and return to the lodge.
I hope you can join me for this authentic island experience.
Sincerely,

No Name Fly Lodge primarily targets tarpon and permit. Guests can expect a fun, free-flowing program that consists of seldom-fished waters and nights full of island culture and cuisine. This program consistently produces excellent opportunities to fish for hungry tarpon with experienced guides. Our anglers love the number of shots they get at unpressured juvenile and adult tarpon, as well as the opportunity for shots at tailing permit on the flats. The lodge is located in Boquerón, PR, a small village on the southwest corner of the island, with colorful architecture and an exciting downtown to explore after days on the water. Travel is easy, and because Puerto Rico is a U.S. Territory, there are no passports needed and no customs to clear.

No Name Lodge has some of the best Tarpon fishing in the world. These fish face less angling pressure than most other destinations, making for more cooperative, fly-friendly fish.
This program offers a wide variety of settings for a range of angler skill and weather conditions. There are mangrove areas that are protected from the wind as well as open flats similar to those in the Keys.
Permit fishing is often done on foot in the surf, while tarpon fishing is mostly done from the skiffs.

Arrive at San Juan (SJU) (by 2:30pm), and we will use a van transfer to the lodge. The transfer will depart San Juan at 3:30pm, and will take approximately 2.5 hours to reach Boquerón. Once at the lodge, we will have a brief orientation, check in to our rooms, relax, freshen up, and then enjoy a dinner in town.
Each day your guide will transfer you to one of the local ramps. Travel time from the lodge to the ramp is around 10-20 minutes, and once you're on the water, it will take 5-15 minutes to start fishing.
No Name Lodge utilizes 17-foot Maverick skiffs with four-stroke 90 HP engines. All boats are equally equipped with poling platforms, carbon push poles, Yeti coolers, and all gear you may need. Depending on conditions, anglers typically enjoy catching 15-40 lb fish on gurglers in the morning and hunting larger cruising fish on classic streamer patterns throughout the day. After lunch in a shady spot, many anglers will choose to wade a series of pancake flats to fish for tailing permit in the afternoon.
