The Faculty Play

ThefacultyplayisaFCStradition.Teachersdressupandputonaplayforthekids.Thisyear’s themewaswater.Thereweresubmarines,synchronizedswimming,andmore.Everyonelovedit!Atthe end,therewasabig song anddance number.Themusic wasexcellentandthe costumesweregreat! Thereweremany differentcharacters includingjellyfish, Arcticexplorers,even algae!Itwasamazing andanexciting experienceforallof thestudentsand teachers.

We interviewed Ms.Tedescobecause sheputsthefaculty playalltogether.Weaskedherquestionsabouthowshegotherstartintheater.Hermomthoughtthatshe wassotheatricalthatsheshouldbeinaplay.Hermomdidn’taskherfirst,shejustdroppedheroffat rehearsal!Shelikestobeinthefacultyplaybecauseshelikestoseeteachersbeingsillyinfrontofkids. Thefacultyplaywasagreatsuccessthisyear.

School Lunch Poll

Editor’s note: Our intrepid newspaper reporters created a poll to find out how many people buy school lunch and asked questions about students’ favorite lunches.

Weinterviewedanumberofstudents.Thegradesweresecondgrade,thirdgrade, kindergarten,and pre-k.Weaskedthemwhatfoodstheylikedandiftheyateschoollunch,didn’teatschoollunch,oreat schoollunchsometimes.Weinterviewedthematthelowerplaygroundwhiletheywerehavingrecess. SomestudentswereinSpanishclasswhenweinterviewedthem.Theywereallveryhappytobe interviewed.

Reporterslearnedthatmoststudentsbuyschoollunchsometimes. Manybuyschoolluncheveryday,and fewerstudentsbringlunchfromhome.

“Myfavoriteschoollunchispasta”saida kindergartener.“Myfavoritelunchis SANDWICHES!”saidaPrekindergartener.

Abigpercentageofpeoplelikepizza,sandwiches,andpancakes.Asmallpercentagelikesgarlicbread, Turkey,andpasta. Reporter’s note: My favorite food from school lunch is pizza with a bucket load of sriracha.

TeacherChristieisoneofourwonderfulfifthgradeteachersandanewmemberoftheFriends’Central staff.ShewantedtobeateacherbecauseshewasasummercampcounselorattheYMCA,andshelikes tobecreativeandyoucandothatinteaching.

Shehasalotofexperience.ShehasalreadyworkedasateacherfortenyearsinthePhiladelphiaSchool District,RussellByersCharterSchool,GladwyneElementary,FriendsSchoolHaverford, andnow Friends’CentralSchool.

Herfavoritehobbiesare running,yoga,baking,and cooking.

TeacherChristielovesto travel. Shehasbeento Greece,France,Italy, England,andIreland throughoutherlife.Sheeven attendedOxfordUniversity.

TeacherChristieisnotonly ahardworkingteacher,she isalsoalovingmothertoa babygirlnamedEllie.Not toolongagoElliestarted crawling.
