As we look back on our Upper School years,one image that often comes to mind is that of the multihued stained glass window that we have passed so many times. Yet it was not until we chose this as a theme for our yearbook that we thought about what it really represented. The many colors of the sunset shining over a pastoral setting have come to represent the diversity here at Friends' Central. This diversity is not just cultural but also intellectual, emotional, and spiritual. The window is a constant in our lives,and while we may not consciously notice it every day,the tradition it represents continues to influence our education. Finally, the quote at the bottom reminds us that Friends' Central,in the Quaker spirit,is devoted to helping us grow spiritually as well as physically and mentally. Just to mention a few of the plays for which you have designed fabulous sets in the senior class's four short years in the Upper School. You have been here for twenty years altogether, not only creating different worlds for the stage, but also opening countless students' eyes to the wonders of woodshop and photography. Hardly a day has gone by when we haven't passed you in the back halls of Shallcross. You always have a subtle "Hello" or a quirky smile ready for us. Your wry sense of humor and many times unsung work has brought us great pleasure.
KathaCeen Brown Ms. Brown, Despite all the complaining we did in English class about reading responses and American literature in general, we appreciate everything you have taught us both in and out of class. We apologize for all those times 'Ye didn't "get out our 'Jacobs"' and for the sloppy journal entries written the block before they were due. Junior Varsity Tennis
The 1991 girls' tennis team, although not as successful as in past years, was solid. The beginning of the season was difficult because of the amount of time required to put team members in their correct standings on the ladder. By the season's end, however, we were successful; this is reflected by the victory of our first doubles team (Ellie Karp and Lauren Schneider) in the Friends' League Tournament. Next year's team looks very promising, so maybe then we can regain the title of Friends' League Champions that we had in 1989. Liz Sklaroff '92

All of the hard work paid off when the girls' cross country team won their first league title. The team beat Westtown quite handily in the championship, ending their long reign.
