Dedications Ms. Nix We, the Class of 1990, dedicate this yearbook to a teacher whose energy and enthusiasm is evident whether she is teaching Chemistry, running, dancing or helping the community. In the classroom she combines her love of teaching and her love of science to help us understand not only how to balance equations, but also how to balance our lives. She often led by example, such as her famous gummy bear experiment, which taught us about physical properties and how to be creative as we learn. Pam, you have given us confidence to believe in ourselves and the ability to take this confidence with us as we move on to face new challenges.
Mrs. Williams After four years of being greeted each morning with genuine smiles and compassion at the front door, we, the Class of 1990, dedicate this yearbook to someone whose presence has helped us get through each day. She's posted the notes from our mothers reminding us that we forgot our lunches; she's taught some of us how to use that high-tech switchboard, and, most of all, Mrs. Williams has shown us how to laugh and smile rather than cry when we are down. We have learned to appreciate the kind advice and willing support she's always offered. The 1989 Girls' Varsity Tennis team enjoyed a very successful season. We grew together as a team, while improving our individual skills. We were undefeated in the Friends League, and so the highlight of our season was winning the Friends Championship. The Friends' Central Girls' Basketball Team started the season by avenging prior losses of past years through teamwork and pure desire. If the team was not in the gymnasium, they were running outdoors on the track to build stamina. The season began with exciting victories over Christian Academy, Delco Christian and Shipley. Teamwork and hustle were the main reasons for the team's victories in league play against such teams as Abington Friends and Westtown. The team has built a strong foundation for the future. We realize that this is a place where people usually leave quotes that mean something to them; quotes that describe an emotion we've all felt or one that captures beauty in words or one which more simply sheds light on one's own character. We searched far and wide for quotes that really describe us at our mo~t profound and most pathetic. We scrutinized the writings of great men, the philosophies of little men, our own personal lives and we amassed a great heap of quotes that triggered something in us, be it a laugh or a wistful sigh. They spoke of love and hate, the fantastic and the mundane; they ran the gamut from "Cheese; Milk's leap towards immortality" to "Soon dawn shall witness the demise of time and life as we know it", but all reflect but one facet of ourselves. To select one or two with the exclusion of the rest of the heap would be like drawing a self-portrait, and including only an ankle, an ear and a bellybutton. We are neither solely comic or solely grave. We are just four young adventurers who ran into each other as boys and decided that it would be kind of neat to face it all together, as a team. And so we have, slowly turning back the covers on the unknown. We think of ourselves as unique but we've laughed and cried along the way just like everyone else.
