DR. WOOD
"Dr. Wood, who served as headmaster of Friends' Central School from 1971 to 1987, was 1ever at a loss for words. He was one of the best extemporaneous speakers we had the trivilege of hearing. Compounded with a marvellous sense of humor, his eloquence made for n enthralling time when he spoke to any gathering, whether student, parent, or alumni. " The school was his all-consuming interest. For most of the years of fiis headmastership he ved on the grounds of Friends' Central. His door was always open to the students; he had h.eir best interests at heart. "His sense of values was exemplary. He did not pursue the acquisition of material objects, ut was more interested in stoking the furnaces of the mind and honing it to blade-like harpness. "With a background of schooling at Choate, Haverford, Oxford- where he earned his 'h.D. in Shakespeare - and Athens University in Greece where he taught, Tom Wood 1ecame the consummate scholar. It is with sadness that we, especially the Lifers, saw him ~ave FCS. It should be a difficult task to replace him." Dr. Jerome H. Sklaroff

MR. BUCKINGHAM "Does that seem reasonable?"- a signature Mr. Buckingham phrase. Keith Buckingham (the Buck, Mr. Buck, KWB) really wants to know what we think ("What's the acceleration of this Iii' sucker?"). He has helped many of us not only through Physics I, II, and Psychology, but P .E. and Life as well. And we have given him an astoundingly unique grade-point curve ("the statistical implications of this are immense!"). Thank you Mr. Buckingham, for your friendship and anecdotes.

MR. DAVIS Beware of the man with the beard older than most of us: he'll strangle himself with his tie if you miss the "d" in sound and will complain of being driven to drink if you give too many wrong answers, but an insightful comment will earn you a star on the board. He has taught us as seventh and as tenth graders. Many of us have sung away in Chorus every Monday and Thursday, and some of us have even ventured into the merry land of Music History and Theory courses. His profound love for music has never ceased to affect his students. Thank you for your inspiration, Mr. Davis.
