Dorothy Burhanan became a member of the Friends' Central community in 1979, the same year that the class of 1983 entered the Upper School as Freshmen. She has helped us all, and we hope that she will still be help~ng others long after we have departed from Friends' Central. Whether patiently explaining an Algebra problem or helping Seniors grasp the concepts of Calculus, Mrs. B. gives all of her attention to the problem of the moment, making each student feel special. She takes a caring interest in her students' progress in and out of the classroom. Her cheerful classroom manner and lively wit have made our days at Friends' Central more enjoyable, and her selfless coaching of Math Team and coordination of Math Fairs have gained her the respect and admiration of our entire class. Whatever may happen in our future, Mrs. B. will stay with us in spirit for years, perhaps even longer than the math that we learned from her.

In her many years at Friends' Central, Sonia Tonelli has always been a model teacher. Her innovative classroom manner and understanding have won her the hearts and minds of her students. She is always aware of the student body's interests and concerns, despite juggling clouds of paper and folders every time that she tries to find something. Although she maintains a busy schedule of extracurricular advising, Mme. Tonelli is always available for extra help after class. Even the Seniors who don't have her for French have come to know and love her through Service Committee and Outing Club, or as a lJ.omeroom teacher. We dedicate this Yearbook to her as a teacher, as an advisor, and as a friend. Time has passed more easily because of her presence, and her memory will help us on our journey through life. 3
