DEDICATION
JUAN JEWELL He is more than a self-proclaimed skeptic; he is a questioner who, refusing to accept things at face value, feels compelled to probe more deeply into matters that others accept without question. This, combined with his easygoing manner, is the key to his strength in the classroom. He has the uncanny ability to lecture at great length on a subject and yet is always able to introduce, on the spur of the moment, any number of current-event topics relevant to the discussion. At the same time, he often throws a curve ball by consciously making an outrageous statement which invites heated classroom response. This generates a lively, electric atmosphere which never fails to be interesting. His mind seems to be always bubbling with ideas or grappling with issues, and this inner process is often shared with a class or the school community as a whole. As a history teacher, these characteristics have allowed him to transfer to his students what is perhaps the most important tool for the aspiring scholar: sincere objectivity. 3

JUNIORS The Junior Class is noted for its many different areas of interest. Each member of the class is an active participant in school funtions. Scholastically the class is very diligent, conscious of their studies, and determined to achieve. The spirit and enthusiasm of the class are shown in the diversity of their successes. The future leaders of the Friends' Central student body are ready to take on the responsibilities of running school functions, organizing social activities, carrying their teams to victory, and continuing the Friends' Central spirit.
SOPHOMORES The Sophomore Class members have a unique flavor and texture. There is a high level of competition which lends itself to high achievement. This produces independent individuals with a high potential for success. Over all we have a unified spirit, a sense of friendship and class responsibility. This year's sophomore class will be capable of great accomplishments in the years to come.
FRESHMEN Throughout the years at Friends' Central, Upper School has been seen as a goal by many, and a final step before beginning our adult lives. Some of the members of the freshman class have waited for it with anticipatiGn, some with a fear, and a few with insurmountable dread. It has taken time to get used to, and everyone has his own complaint: too much homework, not enough studies, no lunch periods, and so on. However, we all made the transition to the "Big Building" with ease. This is High School.

REMEMBER • • •
As I sit and reminisce over the days of the past, I suddenly realize that they went by much too fast. Some of my memories are twelve years old while others are very new, But my rhymes pertain to everyone in the class of 1982. Memories and more memories are what I'm about to tell, So listen to my poem, and listen to it well. Remember octopus, kickball, newcomb, and scooter-scoot, I'll never forget the days we played under the parachute. Remember the races on Blue and Grey Day? Who wants to buy those ... geraniums anyway? Aubry can answer my previous question, 'cause he was the one who captured our attention. Remember Janet Roitman, who was always very fickle, Remember when Emily Davis broke her arm playing "tickle" Remember Petra Wingate who always pranced around like a horse, I tried to poison her, but my Blan failed of course. Remember china animals, lunch boxes, and good old Bower Birdie, Remember Peter Huzinga's fingernails which were always dirty. Remember how Milton always beat up Aubry and Ted, I won't forget Lissa's first day of school when the chalk board fell on her head. Remember Sue Ritt's skirts and her fallen down knee socks, I'll never forget how we stood on chairs and changed all of the clocks. Remember Oliver, Dirty Pink, and of course ... Sonny and Cher, According to David Hurwitz everyone wore mechanical underwear. Remember Laura Carrier used to play with a china cow, Laura, Anatole, Lisa Dubin, and Matt Kirk all go to Lower Merion now. Remember Suniti Nimbkar who was best friends with Sunita Nair, Remember seventh grade when JoAnn first permed her hair. I remember when Mary Beth and Lauren wished that they were fruit, Bailey, Shiphra and Mimi Hartzel always thought Billy Holmes was cute. Remember Tavia Moultrie who beat up boys and lifted up her skirt, "It's o.k. she said, I'm just learning how to flirt. " Remember when Diane Weinberg brought in a brain for show-n-tell, Remember fourth grade when Miss Reed's map fell. The Partridge Family and the Brady Bunch were two of our favorite shows, Who can forget the softball game when Shiphra broke her nose. Remember Kenny Gorson, John Barker, David Jenkins, Rodney, and Keith, Remember third grade when Betsy still had her baby teeth. Remember the bad temper that Anatole Wilson had, I'll never forget Aubry's fringed jacket and his back to nature fad . Who can forget Senna Lit and all of her famous plays, Who can remember their first zit back in the Middle School days. Remember the fads of Middle School? If you carried a comb you were known to be cool. Levis, Lip gloss. Docksides, and hairdos, Did you own a pair of Buffalo shoes? The Bazaar, Carnival and Lankenau Fair, The polyester leisure suits that the boys used to wear. Remember Mark Dungee's new hairstyle and his chapped bottom lip, Remember what Mary Beth and Lauren had in common- a guy by the name of Chip. Remember Charlotte Calloway and her ballet lessons, Remember Erika Nobel and her studious questions. Nicknames such as Pancakes, Miss Powerhouse and Bee-sting, Remember chorus with Mr. Davis and the songs we used to sing: It's spring. Gotta be spring. Birds gotta sing. Chimes gotta ring ... Angela and Charlie King. Henry and Jill's two week fling. Remember the dance recitals of Mary Beth and Sue, Mme. Arditi's jelly fish which we could hardly chew. Remember the days of fights and cliques, When Jill didn't own any four colored Bics. Record hops, Bar Mitzvahs, and of course the Purple Haze, Who can remember seventh grade and Aubry's disco craze.
Remember Developmental Reading with Mr D., and Whaling with Mr. Knight, Mark Gerstein stuck a fork in his hand and suddenly became pale-white. Remember the couples of seventh and ·eighth grade. Remember the kissing games that Brian McCauley played . Remember the long hair worn by Jennifer and Jan , Remember Bernie's Bar Mitzvah when he became a man . Remember how Alok Bhargava fainted at the football game. Thanks to David Cherner my toe will never be the same. Remember how colleges and applications brought about frowns and smiles, If your name doesn't begin with an L then you can forget about Dave Niles. Remember how Miss Sayegh accused Steve and Jo-z of cheating, I' ll never forget the controversy Paul Clough started in Meeting .
