Welcome to the 26th annual Fremantle International Street Arts Festival — Australasia’s biggest street arts festival!

Fremantle’s streets, parks and waterfront are buzzing with creativity this Easter. With more than 160 free, family-friendly performances, there’s always something to see or stumble across. Local artists share stages (or pitches—the traditional busking term) with performers from the UK, France, China, Japan, Spain, the USA, Chile and across Australia, bringing circus, theatre, music, dance and roving spectacle to every corner.

We are excited to re-activate the Fishing Boat Harbour this year, where you can witness the Australian premiere of Surcouf by France’s Cie Sacékripa. This comically absurd two-man show blends circus, humour and human moments, as performers balance on a wobbly raft over the water.

In Esplanade Park, Karla Kaartdijin by Karla Hart Productions, in collaboration with ZAP Circus, honours fire’s deep significance for Nyoongar people through dance, story, song and stunning fire artistry— a moving celebration of culture, resilience and connection to Country. Meanwhile Spain’s Osadía are ready to perform fantastical makeovers where the sculptural art of hairdressing becomes live theatre in their barber chairs.

Getting Around

FISAF is an open-air, family friendly festival throughout Walyalup / Fremantle.

The majority of venues are very close to each other and can be walked in a matter of minutes. Please see our map on page 31.

*Although entry to the festival is free, many of our acts make their living through busking. If you’ve enjoyed their performance keep an eye out for contribution options after the show.

Access all arts

Through its Access All Arts program, DADAA offers Audio Description and Assistive Listening for selected FISAF shows. Audio Description enhances live performance and visual art for people who are blind or vision impaired. An Audio Describer delivers a verbal description of the visual elements via a personal headset. Assistive Listening improves the experience for a person who is hard of hearing, sending the audio directly to a Bluetooth hearing aid via phone.

Please indicate which service you would like to access when booking. You will need to download the Sennheiser MobileConnect app (available for iOS and Android) and connect to DADAA WiFi. MobileConnect WiFi network will be available at the event via your own mobile device. Please supply your own earphones. Places are limited. Bookings must be made at least 7 days before each show and will be confirmed via confirmation email.

The Metro Events Program was established in 2024 to support local event holders to expand their existing events, further activating the Perth region for locals, and drawing in visitors from outside Western Australia.

In its second year, 10 events, including the Fremantle International Street Arts Festival, have been awarded funding through the Metro Events Program. The Western Australian Government is proud to sponsor these events, which help bring vibrancy to the State, give visitors a time-sensitive reason to book a trip to Western Australia, and enhance the experience of tourists in the city.

Cho Kairin Super Acrobat Team

Step into the world of Cho Kairin, the King of Chinese Acrobats, and his top disciple Ma Kenluck. Born in Hebei, China—renowned for its acrobatic tradition—Cho continues a four-generation family legacy. Trained from age six, he has dazzled audiences worldwide, earning the Gold Prize at the 1998 Hebei Acrobat Competition and the 2017 World Champion title at the Daidogei World Cup in Japan.

With extraordinary balance, precision, and strength, his team delivers thrilling performances celebrating centuries of Chinese acrobatic mastery.

OSADÍA

Making People Happy

Osadía is an audacious street theatre company founded in Barcelona in 1996 by artist and hairdresser Alex Rendón. Blending dance, music, and live hair art, two striking performers transform audience volunteers into extraordinary characters before their eyes. In Osadía, the spectator becomes the star, emerging from the barber’s chair not only restyled but transformed in presence and attitude. Touring across the world, the company captivates global audiences with performances that live on through their daring participants.

KARLA HART PRODUCTIONS

Karla Kaartdijin

Karla Kaartdijin is a powerful Noongar performance by Karla Hart Productions in collaboration with ZAP Circus. Centered on Karla— fire—this work honours its deep significance to Noongar people as a source of life, knowledge and connection. Through a striking fusion of dance, story and song, the performance weaves cultural tradition with contemporary spectacle.

Audiences can expect breathtaking pyrotechnics and stunning fire artistry to illuminate the stage, alongside evocative choreography and storytelling that is grounded in Country and culture. Karla Kaartdijin (meaning “walking with fire” and “fire knowledge”) invites audiences to reflect on fire as teacher, healer and life force. This is a moving and visually spectacular celebration of resilience, cultural strength and the enduring flame of Noongar wisdom.

CHILE

Karcocha is a contemporary Chilean harlequin who travels the world creating vibrant street performances. His show is rooted in improvisation, transforming everyday spaces into playful theatrical adventures. He interacts freely with everything around him—people, children, animals, sounds, passing cars—turning ordinary moments into unexpected comedy and poetry. With performances in more than 60 countries across five continents, Karcocha brings a universal language of humour, spontaneity, and human connection to the streets of Fremantle.

Lil’ Trailer of Horrors is a daring Australian premiere staged entirely inside a caravan by The Miraculous Theatre Company. In five-minute immersive encounters, audiences step into a twisted world where menace, humour, and absurdity collide.

Set in the Louisiana swamplands, the story follows Bub and his telepathic daughter Stacey, trailer-park transplants chasing fame in Fremantle. Darkly comic and deliciously uncomfortable, this roaming sideshow transforms a humble caravan into an intimate, unsettling theatrical thrill.

On a small drifting raft—steady only if it holds—two long-time companions prepare for a show that hasn’t quite begun. There are rituals, awkward adjustments, and perfectly pointless tasks. Nothing is rushed. Everything matters.

Blending circus, risk, and quiet humour, Surcouf is a tender exploration of balance—physical, emotional, existential. As the raft tips beneath them, calm surfaces give way to hidden storms. It’s about holding on, leaning on each other, and staying afloat when certainty slips away. Gentle, absurd, deeply human. The water is always waiting.

Meet the intergalactic creations of Melbourne’s A Blanck Canvas: the high-energy Skull Squires and the curious Occulus.

These larger-than-life roaming puppets ignite mischief and joy wherever they go. The Skull Squires spark the party with dancing and playful chaos, while the Occulus—giant wandering eyeballs with quirky handmade instruments—explore, investigate, and charm their way into your heart.

Through hypnotic spins and a seamless bond between artist and apparatus, this Chilean acrobat celebrates strength, balance, and the universal language of joy.

Weight(less) reflects on the world we live in and the emotions we share, inviting audiences of all ages to laugh, cry, and dream together—offering a joyful escape from the chaos of everyday life. Created by Mimbre, a female-led company renowned for over 25 years of breathtaking acrobatic theatre, the work combines delicate skill and innovative circus artistry to illuminate human connection in outdoor and unconventional spaces.

Kick Flip by Just Gal Pals is a high-octane comedy-circus romp fresh from Fringe. From the creators of Off Chops, it drops audiences into the skate park, where teenage “boiz” Oscar and Jacob chase half-pipe glory.

Blending drag, circus, and outrageous physical comedy, the show serves big tricks and even bigger laughs. At its heart, Kick Flip is a joyful, tongue-incheek celebration of friendship, self-love, and going full send.

SARITAH

Born in Seoul and raised on Noongar country in Boorloo/ Perth, Saritah is a singersongwriter devoted to the transformative power of song. Blending reggae rhythms with acoustic soul and conscious lyrics, her music is an offering of love, hope, and healing to a world that needs it.

BOOM! BAP! POW!

Boom! Bap! Pow! are back on the stage, bringing their infectious rock ‘n’ soul grooves to Perth’s festival scene.

Led by the charismatic Novac Bull, this powerhouse band has spent over 18 years igniting dance floors nationwide.

Steve Hensby Band

Steve Hensby Band are splitting at the seams with an assault to the musical senses with elements of funk, soul, ska, world, a sprinkle of psychedelia and a dash of folk. The 9-piece ensemble is regular in the WA festival circuit.

Ningaloo Records

The vinyl collection and space activation project of Fremantle DJ Josh Grainger. A regular behind all-night residencies and themed parties across Perth and Fremantle, he’s worked with The Wave Rock Weekender Festival, Fremantle Biennale, PICA and Perth International Jazz Festival.

Expect deep, far-reaching selections— from Balearic and Mediterranean disco to Afro, Latin and soulful NYC house.
