To me, Grace means the space to give self-love and self-care as I navigate the new life. This journey of Grace started in January 2022 with the word being part of my intentions for the year, going inward to take care of myself as a woman, artist, mom, leader and friend. I needed to go to the next step of healing and self-discovery to find my new path. Part of this selfdiscovery was taking the risk to say “yes” to #thehundreddayproject. This project took me on a discovery of what I have already done (I printed blocks I have already carved), tapping into what I know-color and discovering I am good at what I do. As the weeks continued and my confidence grew, ideas filled my head and I started carving new blocks. A series of blocks emerged and at the end, I kept carving and printing until Grace was born. This was the start of the collection and it grew to this rich, luscious, combination of colors, layers of designs. Grace was my journey to a new sense of self-worth and confidence; it continues to fuel my intentions and my life. We all need a little Grace in our lives!

Instructions:

TIP: When sewing triangles together it is important to align the triangles right sides together where the pieces meet ¼" from edge. Fig. 1

Note: All seam allowances are 1⁄4". Sew fabrics with right sides together.

1. Refer to the Quilt Layout diagram on page 45 for fabric placement when sewing the filler strips and borders. Sew the triangles together along adjacent edges. Press. Fig. 2

2. Trim each filler strip and border to the required length. Fig. 3 Note: If your border is not long enough, another triangle can be added.

3. Make the following borders:

• top border, with 27 triangles, trim to 4½" x 48½"

• bottom border, with 27 triangles, trim to 4½" x 48½"

• left border, with 39 triangles, trim to 4½" x 70½"

• right border, with 39 triangles, trim to 4½" x 70½"

4. Make the following filler strip sections:

• first horizontal filler with 17 triangles, trim to 4½" x 28½"

• second horizontal filler with 10 triangles, trim to 4½" x 16½"

• long vertical filler with 14 triangles, trim to 4½" x 24½"

• each short vertical filler with 11 triangles, trim to 4½" x 18½"

5. Set borders and filler strips to the side. These will be used when putting the quilt top together (page 44).

This square should measure 1" x 1" (2.54cm x 2.54cm) when printed.
