Adrienne Leban
Born in Memphis, Tennessee and raised in Miami Beach, Florida, Adrienne Leban is a visual artist, educator, writer, designer, and publisher who has lived in New York City since 1967. She has a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Miami and a Master’s Degree from New York University. During the last five decades, she has created a unique body of drawings, paintings, and digital art in a variety of intuitive geometric forms, including geometric patterns of energy, geometric surrealism and fantasy, geometric cartoons, and what she calls “BioGeo”— the culmination of them all. She has taught thousands of college art students her pioneering curricula which include the courses Originality, Design for Social Change, and Drawing Inside Out, among numerous others, since 1969 at the School of Visual Arts, an art college in New York City. Adrienne is founder of The Lifework Studio, Inc. Dedicated to encouraging the artist in everyone, TLS publishes creativity tools consisting of the books Create with Me and Draw with Me, and the paper sculpture Eye-Catcher. They have been in major museum bookstores and have been used in design courses in the U.S. and Japan. Her art books include Inner Energy: 24 Drawings to Manifest the Self (1979); BioGeo, The Freehand Drawings of Adrienne Leban (2012), in the National Art Library of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London UK; and Beyond September 11, Mandalas & Meditations (2013), included in the permanent collection of the September 11th Memorial & Museum in New York, NY.
