On behalf of the Home Builders Association of Washington County, I am pleased to welcome you to the 2026 Home Show.
For more than five decades, the HBAWC has proudly supported local businesses across the building, home improvement, and associated industries throughout the tri-state area. This Home Show is a reflection of that commitment; bringing together skilled professionals and the community they serve in one place. The relationships formed here matter, because choosing who you work with is about trust, quality, and connection. There’s simply no substitute for meeting face-to-face, having real conversations, and getting to know the people behind the businesses.
Our members are known for their professionalism, strong work ethic, and pride in their craft, and the Home Show offers attendees the opportunity to experience that firsthand. We believe events like this should
be informative, productive, and enjoyable, which is why this year’s show includes live music both days, wine tasting, expanded food options, and much more to enhance your experience.
We hope you enjoy exploring the show, discovering new ideas, and finding inspiration for your home. Be sure to bring a friend, connect with our exhibitors, and don’t forget to cast your vote for your favorite booth for the coveted “Best in Show” award.
The Home Builders Association of Washington County is a non-profit organization led by a volunteer Board of Directors dedicated to supporting, promoting, and growing the building and associated industries in our region. On behalf of the Home Builders Association of Washington County, I would like to welcome all exhibitors and attendees to the 41st Annual Home Show. As a proud resident of Washington County who has had the privilege of owning many businesses over the years, I know the importance of getting the job done right the first time. As the returning Home Show Committee Chairman, I am proud that we, as an organization, have continued to find ways to help our attendees connect with quality businesses who can make sure their jobs are done with excellence and integrity.
The HBAWC is excited to once again provide an opportunity to bring skilled tradespeople and business people in associated industries together with homeowners and members of the public seeking their services and expert advice. Window screens may not always be top of mind, but they play a crucial role in keeping your home comfortable, efficient, and protected. When screens are torn, bent, or worn out, they do more than look unattractive; they allow insects inside, reduce airflow, and can even impact energy efficiency. The good news? Screen repair is often quick, affordable, and a smart alternative to full replacement.
At Blaine Window Hardware, we specialize in helping homeowners and professionals find the right window and door parts to keep existing windows working their best, including screen repair solutions for every need.
Damaged screens can:
· Let bugs, pollen, and debris into your home
· Reduce ventilation and fresh airflow
· Compromise comfort during warmer months
· Detract from your home’s appearance
Repairing or rescreening your existing frames restores functionality without the cost of replacing the entire window. It’s a simple fix that makes a big difference.
Not all screens are created equal. Choosing the right material depends on your lifestyle,

location, and how you use your windows.
Fiberglass Screen
Fiberglass is the most common screen material and a popular choice for many homes. It’s flexible, affordable, rust-resistant, and easy to install. Ideal for standard residential use, fiberglass screens provide good airflow and visibility.
Aluminum Screen
Aluminum screens are more rigid and durable than fiberglass. They hold their shape well and offer a crisp, clean appearance. While they’re stronger, they can dent more easily and may be better suited for areas with less frequent handling.
Tuff screen is designed for strength and longevity. Thicker than standard fiberglass, it’s perfect for high-traffic areas
such as doors, porches, or homes with children. It stands up well to everyday wear and tear while still providing good visibility.
Pet Screen
Pet screen is a vinyl-coated polyester material built specifically to resist damage from pets. If you have dogs or cats that love sitting by open windows or doors, this screen helps prevent claw tears and stretching, saving you from repeated repairs.
Solar screens reduce heat, glare, and UV exposure by blocking a percentage of the sun’s rays before they enter your home. They’re a great option for sunfacing windows and can help improve indoor comfort while protecting furniture and flooring from fading.
Screen repair doesn’t mean starting from scratch. Blaine Window Hardware offers the parts, materials, and expertise needed to repair or upgrade your existing screens; helping you extend the life of your windows and doors.
Whether you’re a homeowner tackling a DIY project or a contractor looking for reliable solutions, choosing the right screen material makes all the difference.
Stop by Blaine Window Hardware located at 17319 Blaine Drive Hagerstown, Maryland to find the right screen solution for your home.

A full kitchen renovation is one of the most rewarding home upgrades you can undertake—and one of the most complex! When done right, it can dramatically improve functionality, increase home value, and create a space that feels tailored to your lifestyle. Whether you’re starting from a dated layout or aiming for a complete overhaul, these secrets will help you achieve a renovation that is both seamless and spectacular. A professional designer can help you achieve the results you are looking for by asking these questions:
1. WHAT IS YOUR PURPOSE?
Before making selections, get extremely clear on how you use your kitchen. Do you entertain often? Need more prep space? Want hidden storage? The best renovations begin with lifestyle-driven planning. Once your purpose is defined, the design naturally follows—and your renovation dollars go where they matter most.
2. WHAT IS THE BEST LAYOUT IN YOUR SPACE?
A full renovation gives you the freedom to rethink the kitchen’s flow entirely. This is your chance to correct awkward configurations. Consider widening walkways, relocating major appliances, or opening walls to improve sight lines and create an inviting, connected space. A thoughtful layout forms the backbone of a kitchen that looks incredible and works beautifully.

3. WHAT MATERIALS TO YOU WANT TO USE?
A renovation is the time to select materials that blend durability with design. Prioritize quality in the elements you touch daily—like cabinet doors, hardware, and faucets—since these pieces set the tone for the entire kitchen and withstand the most wear.
4. HAVE YOU CONSIDERED LIGHTING?
Lighting is one of the most underestimated components of a remodel. Plan for three layers: ambient lighting for overall brightness, task lighting for work areas, and accent lighting to highlight details or open shelving.
5. WHAT SPECIFIC STORAGE NEEDS DO YOU HAVE?
A full renovation allows you to take storage to the next level with custom solutions. Think deep drawers, pull-out shelves, hidden charging stations, spice pull-outs, built-in trash, and floorto-ceiling cabinetry. When storage is intentionally crafted, the kitchen feels cleaner and calmer.
6. WHAT ARE YOUR PREFERENCES REGARDING COLOR?
With endless options available, creating a unified look is essential. Choose a primary color palette and complement it with two or three supporting materials—such as wood or metal. Consistency creates harmony and ensures the renovation feels timeless rather than trend driven.
7. WHAT ABOUT THE DETAILS?
The small decisions often make the biggest impact. Trim work, cabinet hardware, faucet style, appliance finishes, and even outlet placement contribute to a finished space that feels intentional. These details separate a good renovation from a memorable one.
A full kitchen renovation is a major investment, and a trained kitchen designer can help you invest your money wisely and make the best choices for an extraordinary transformation. Schedule an appointment today to meet with one of the talented, experienced Designers here at J & D Kitchen Distributors and let’s realize the Kitchen of your Dreams!

I can’t say enough about J&D kitchens, they did a fabulous job on my kitchen. True professionals –they have high attention to the smallest details and my kitchen came out beautiful. Highly recommend.”

BY BURKHOLDER’S FLOORING AMERICA
Your bathroom is one of the most important rooms in your home. A place where you can relax, recharge, and get ready for the day. The right flooring sets the tone, making your bathroom feel comfortable, stylish, and truly you. As we look ahead to Winter 2025, some exciting bathroom flooring trends are about to take center stage. This season, we see highlights of calming minimalist looks, earthy warmth, color and a touch of modern glam, making it easy to find the perfect fit for your everyday routine.
If you’re seeking a peaceful retreat, minimalism is the ideal design style. It emphasizes soft colors, clean layouts, and a calming, spa-like atmosphere. It’s perfect for creating a relaxing space where you can unwind at any time of day.
Flooring Idea: Think large, light-colored porcelain tiles or subtle wood-look vinyl planks. Both keep the lines clean and make your bathroom feel bigger, brighter, and more tranquil.

When the weather turns chilly, a cozy bathroom can be a welcome escape. Warm, earthy colors and textured finishes are trending. Making every step feel inviting and grounded. Natural touches like woven baskets, wood vanities, and layered textiles bring a sense of comfort and warmth.
Flooring Idea: Try luxury vinyl or tile in honey, taupe, or terracotta tones. Textured finishes, like hand-scraped woods or stonelook tiles, add that extra layer of warmth underfoot for the cold months ahead.
If you want your bathroom to sparkle, the modern glamour trend is about adding a little everyday luxury. Metallic fixtures, rich colors, and sleek surfaces are in the spotlight, letting your personality shine through with bold, stylish choices.
Flooring Idea: Choose gray marble-look tiles or elegant, wide-plank, waterproof flooring to set a luxurious stage for eye-catching

fixtures and accents. These choices balance glam style with everyday durability, so your bathroom looks great all season.
We’re here to help you find the perfect flooring for your bathroom and your home. Whether you love a calm spa escape, warm and inviting textures, or a hint of glam, we’ve got something to suit every style and budget. Be sure to explore our showroom for plenty of inspiration and ideas on how to make your bathroom perfect for you.

Homeowners looking to enhance both the beauty and safety of their properties are increasingly turning to low-voltage landscape lighting. Once considered a luxury, this energy-efficient option has become a practical and accessible upgrade for homes of all sizes. Here are the top five reasons experts say low-voltage landscape lighting is a smart investment.
Low-voltage landscape lighting highlights architectural features, trees, gardens, and walkways, transforming a home after sunset. Strategically placed fixtures create depth and contrast, giving properties a polished, upscale appearance. Real estate professionals note that a well-lit exterior can significantly improve first impressions and overall curb appeal.
Proper outdoor lighting reduces the risk of accidents by illuminating steps, paths, and uneven surfaces. At the same time, a well-lit property can deter potential intruders by eliminating dark corners and increasing visibility around the home. Many homeowners see landscape lighting as a simple yet effective layer of security.
As the name suggests, low-voltage systems operate on significantly less electricity than traditional outdoor lighting. When paired with LED bulbs, these systems consume minimal energy while providing long-lasting illumination. The result is lower utility bills and reduced maintenance costs over time.
4. ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY DESIGN
Low-voltage lighting is widely considered a greener option. It uses less power, produces less heat, and can be designed to minimize light pollution. With proper placement, homeowners can enjoy beautiful nighttime views without disrupting local wildlife or neighboring properties.
5. INCREASED OUTDOOR USABILITY
Landscape lighting extends the usability of outdoor spaces well into the evening. Patios, decks, and gardens become inviting areas for entertaining, dining, or relaxing after dark. By creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere, low-voltage lighting effectively adds functional living space to a home.
As homeowners continue to seek upgrades that combine aesthetics, safety, and sustainability, lowvoltage landscape lighting stands out as a bright idea—one that pays dividends long after the sun goes down.

The Mt. Tabor Builders team of professionals know how to make the building experience a great one. Too many people avoid building their dream home because they know someone who has done it and said, “it’s something I’ll never do again.” Company owner Willie Eby founded the company in 2001 to build great custom homes and lead homeowners through an enjoyable journey.
“Every year we meet people who have a dream” says Willie, who is personally involved with every custom home project. “It’s exciting to talk to those people who have an idea or dream, helping them to take their first steps to make that happen.”
Willie’s team makes sure every step in the process is filled with transparency and regular communication. Mt. Tabor clients attest to this.
The team designs and builds custom homes, major additions and completes whole house renovations throughout the Tri-state area of Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. You can see examples of their work in the company portfolio online at their
website: mttaborbuilders.com. You’ll see a number of projects that feature exposed timber frames, expertly cut in the company’s timber shop.
Connect with Mt. Tabor’s Clear Spring, Maryland office through their website to discuss your 2026 building plans. You can also call 301.766. 0016 or use info@mttaborbuilders.com to contact a company representative.
“Integrity was really important. Transparency was really important. We’ve had some friends that went through a building process and were so done with their contractor at the end. We definitely did not feel that way!”

AN EDUCATED CONSUMER IS OUR BEST CUSTOMER!
The need for updating the look of old dingy concrete has increased as homeowners need more living space. The economical choice of coating the concrete vs. replacing it has become very popular. Finding a long lasting guaranteed product can be a problem. I would like to help educate you on what you should look for so you can ask the right questions to find the solution and value that fit your needs.

First, find a licensed, insured and reputable company. Ask all contractors for proof of insurance and for their MHIC (Maryland Home Improvement Commission) Licence Number.
• To update or improve the look of old or stained concrete. Concrete garages, sidewalks, porches, basements, patios and carports can all be coated.
• Coating extends the life of the concrete by protecting it. Concrete surfaces are subject to a variety of stress on a daily basis. Sun damage; snow and salt damage; pitting and surface delamination; freeze/thaw expansion; and power washing all can damage your concrete.
• A properly prepared and coated surface is chemical, salt and oil resistant. Using normal household cleaners like Simple Green will keep the surface looking great for years.
• With the choice of color options and textures, coating can transform your entire space. Cracks can be mended, pits filled, and oils removed by properly grinding the surface for better adhesion. In basement settings, the floor will stay cleaner. In the event of a flood, it will be easier to clean in addition to saving you money compared to carpet or laminate replacement and maybe mold issues.
Homeowners can only do interior surfaces using the available epoxies at the big box stores. These brands of coatings are typically watered down versions of 2 part epoxies. They offer no way for surface prep other than cleaning the surface. They do not last, are easily damaged, and fade in sunlight. They are not for exterior surfaces and will be slippery.
Professionals prepare the area by using a diamond grinder to profile the surface and mending existing cracks. Profiling allows the coatings to get a strong bite into the surface making them extremely strong against peeling.
Renew It All uses a reputable, long standing polyurea and polyaspartic system to do our customer’s floors.
Polyurea base coats adhere to the concrete profile better than epoxies and the cross linking technology allows them to be more flexible and impact resistant. The colored flakes are vinyl and our polyaspartic top coat bonds to make a system that is 4X harder than epoxies. Our system allows (in most cases) for a 1 day install period that is usable in 24 hours. Best of all they are low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) and low odor. Polyureas can also be installed year round when temperatures are above 25 degrees F.
Epoxies are thinner and typically need several coats. They can have a very strong odor and can be overwhelming when used inside. They can also take several days to dry and cannot be applied in cold temperatures.

POLYUREA/ POLYASPARTIC
• Hybrid coatings
• Superior adhesion qualities
• Allows 1 day installations
• Can be applied to exterior surfaces
• UV Stable, will not fade outside
• Can be applied in colder temperatures
• Lifespan: 15+ years

EPOXY
• Very good adhesion
• Installation can be 3-5 days
• Should not be applied outside
• Will fade or change color, yellow outside
• Can only be applied in 50 degrees and above
• Lifespan: 5-10 years
Winter’s a killer for homes. Roofs and chimneys take a good amount of the beating. It’s rough on windows, walls, foundations, gutters, and decks too. Here are some tips for a walk around to help you see what needs fixing now so you don’t end up with a huge bill later. We’ll start from the top down.
First, look closely at the brick or stone work for water damage. Specifically, check the joints between the bricks. If you see missing mortar or plants growing out of them, that means water is getting in. Also, keep an eye out for that white, powdery stuff called efflorescence. If you spot it, your masonry is soaking up water instead of shedding it. If you find any of these you need to seal that masonry up! A clear, water-resistant barrier should do the trick. Just brush it on in small sections. Let the first coat soak in for about 15 minutes, and then hit it with a second coat if it looks like it needs it.
You can likely identify roof issues by using binoculars and inspecting carefully, without climbing onto the roof. Look for these common problems:
• Shingle-shift: This suggests that fasteners may have failed and need replacing.
• Cracked or Missing Shingles: These are clear signs of damage.
• Nail-pops (Eyebrows): This occurs when nails push up the tabs of the shingles, creating a gap that allows water intrusion around the nail.

Whether they are wood, siding, stucco, or brick—for any signs of damage. Look beneath the eaves and near gutter downspouts, as water stains there often indicate that gutters are not properly managing roof runoff. If you have wood siding, inspect the surface for any openings, deteriorated spots, or missing knots, which could become entry points and nesting sites for pests like woodpeckers and carpenter ants.
Make sure your windows are sealed up tight by checking existing caulk and weather stripping—that’s your first line of defense against air and water. Air leaks let hot summer air in and cool air out.
If you saw moisture between the glass of your double- or triple-pane windows, the seal is broken. If that’s the case, you’ll need to replace the glass or the whole window.
Start at the top and work your way down to the foundation, paying close attention to any cracks in the masonry. Don’t just try to patch these with regular caulk—that won’t hold up. Your best bet is to call in a foundation expert. They can use a two-part epoxy injection system, which essentially glues the cracks back together chemically, giving you a real, long-lasting fix.
