“Our love story didn’t start with love at first sight. We met in 2018 in our freshman dorm at Virginia Tech. We saw each other at the typical get-to-know-each other gatherings and went to an occasional football game with friends, but that was pretty much it. Until ... two weeks later when classes started I was walking into my philosophy class and saw out of the corner of my eye a guy with brown curly hair and glasses.”
Eventually, they started walking to class together, sitting through lectures together, and going to lunch at West End to get spaghetti every Wednesday. “Our conversations during our spaghetti lunches were special and I believe this is where we really became friends.” Since then, they have grown together as a couple who have gotten to share incredible experiences with each other – travel to new places, spend quality time with both their families, and purchase a house and make it a home.
Real Weddings
In January 2022, their senior year, they planned a trip to Madrid to visit Brandon’s sister who was living there at the time. During the trip, they decided to venture out to Granada, Spain to visit the Alhambra, see some flamenco dancing, and of course eat amazing food. “One of our days I was told we’re going hiking super early. So we hike up this giant hill, get lost along the way, and I can sense the nerves starting to pick up from both Brandon and his sister. Eventually we made it to the most gorgeous view with a picnic waiting for us. A secret photographer was there and captured the moment perfectly when Brandon decided to pop the question. It was the easiest yes of my life.”
THE WEDDING
One hundred and twelve guests, along with a 8-person bridal party, helped the couple celebrate their June wedding at Cana Vineyards & Winery. “Cana was everything we wanted in a venue. It was so beautiful to walk the ceremony, to cocktail hour, to the reception, and it made it feel like we were going to multiple destinations that were curated for each part of the day. I remember my dad telling me after our wedding that he loved to look out into the vineyard during dinner and see the beautiful sunset.”
“Our ceremony was so special. My brotherin-law was our officiant and my dad walking me down the aisle to the man I was spending forever with is a moment ingrained in my memory for eternity. Not to mention the feeling of my brother-in-law saying ‘I now pronounce…The Medellins!’ was pure joy.”
The couple are not the best dancers, but they worked so hard to make their first dance beautiful. “Brandon and I took dance lessons for five weeks leading up to our wedding. We ended up committing to doing a lift during our dance and it truly was one of the highlights of the reception. Brandon and I are huge coffee lovers so to have one of our favorite coffee shops, Rare Birds Coffee, serve up cortados, lattes, and cappuccinos was iconic.”
From doing our own florals, to making our wedding signs, creating the guest book, and making friends with our amazing vendors ... it made our wedding more meaningful,” the bride shared.

THE PROPOSAL
Alexandra and Stephen attended the same high school and knew of each other during those years, however their paths crossed at their town’s local dive bar one summer evening in 2017.
Stephen planned and executed a beautiful proposal in May of 2022, right before their five year anniversary. The proposal took place at Alexandra’s parents property among evergreen trees – he built a platform and backdrop with lights in which he filled with photos of them throughout their five years together. He also created a pathway to the platform outlined in rocks, photos and florals. Stephen was waiting on the platform to pop the question –“I felt like I was in a fairytale!”
THE WEDDING
Alexandra and Stephen hosted a small intimate wedding at Hope Flower Farm & Vineyard in September. “Our wedding ceremony took place outdoors on a gorgeous summer evening. “We walked down the aisle to the sound of a beautiful live string quartet and locked eyes to say our vows under
huge trees decorated with beautiful florals surrounded by our immediate family - it was truly magical.”
The couple couldn’t find the perfect venue in Pennsylvania so they decided to expand their search and look out of state. “We visited Hope Flower Farm, met with the owner, Holly Chapple and toured the property. After learning more about the mission of the farm and Holly’s incredible floral design work, we decided it would be a great fit for our special day.” They really loved the idea of getting married on a working flower farm as they grow and cut flowers in their own backyard and love the beauty they bring to their lives.
“Our entire day was our favorite day ever. We had beautiful weather and amazing wedding vendors at our dream venue, but we especially loved the intimate nature of our day and being able to be fully present to spend time with each of our family members.”

THE PROPOSAL
Victoria and Jairus met at the University of Virginia in 2015 when they volunteered at a therapeutic horseback riding program. “Our long carpool rides to and from the barn quickly became our favorite part of the week – we talked non-stop, and from day one, everything felt so natural.”
On a backpacking trip in Montana and Yellowstone National Park in 2022, Jairus convinced Victoria to get up at 4:00am for a sunrise hike up Mount Washburn. Their hike was almost thwarted by a couple of baby bears. Fortunately, they reached the summit where Jairus proposed.
THE WEDDING
One hundred and three guests, along with a 10-person wedding party, helped the couple celebrate their May wedding at 48 Fields Farm. Prior to the wedding ceremony they had a traditional tea ceremony. Jairus is from Singapore and his family celebrates Chinese traditions. The
tea ceremony is typically where the bride and groom show respect to the elders in their families by serving tea and the family members receive the couple into the respective families as they accept the tea. The couple receives gifts and well wishes from their family. It symbolizes the union of two families. Victoria wore a Chinese style dress called a Qipao for the tea ceremony.
With Victoria being from Virginia and Jairus from Singapore, we knew that not everyone would be able to travel, so we decided to have two home town wedding receptions – one in Virginia and one in Singapore the following week. “When we visited 48 Fields we both immediately agreed to book it. It’s a gorgeous venue that matched the vibe we wanted our wedding to have. They have a lot of décor already on hand to borrow and their staff is very responsive and helpful.
For our wedding ceremony, the couple wanted something deeply personal. Jairus’ older sister graciously officiated, which made it even more meaningful. “We wrote our own vows, and with someone who knew us leading the ceremony we were both holding back tears.” It was important to us to blend our families’ wedding traditions. We had a Gate Crash party prior to the first look at the venue. Gate crashing as it is known in Singapore, is a Chinese wedding tradition where there are a series of tests or games to demonstrate the groom’s love for the bride. The bridesmaids will set a series of challenges for the groom to complete before being allowed to see the bride and the groomsmen will assist.
Jairus and his groomsmen took on a pop quiz about Victoria, group yoga poses, TikTok dances, and even had to eat foods that were sour, sweet, bitter, and spicy—all symbolizing different phases of marriage. Everyone in the wedding party had a blast!

Kelsey and Kelly met online. “I was visiting my best friend in Florida at Clearwater beach while searching one day and liked Kelsey’s profile. A week later as we started talking we figured out we were like 110 miles from each other. After she mentioned she had visited her sister in Tampa recently we put the pieces together that we both were within 10 miles of each other at the same time in Florida and that’s how we matched up. Otherwise we would have never crossed paths at home.” From the moment they met there was never any other thought than ‘I’m going to marry this person’.
The couple were engaged at New Kent Winery. “It was a lovely spring day at the end of April and Kelsey had asked to take me on a date. We got a bottle of wine and a charcuterie plate. We found a sweet isolated table down by a large barn door where we sat, enjoyed the sun, and played games together.
Next thing I knew Kelsey was down on one knee, shaking and asking to marry me. She had even taken pictures sneakily with her watch. It was perfection – the ring was in a custom wooden box and inside was an oval diamond cut with diamonds and sapphires around the band. Both unique and classy.”
THE WEDDING
Fifty guests helped the couple celebrate their September wedding at Williams Gap Vineyard. “We were looking for somethings smaller and LBGTQ-friendly when a friend suggested Williams Gap. We knew right away this venue was meant to be – we both felt so loved and excepted immediately.” Plus, the rolling hills of vines were stunning as well.
The couple had an outside ceremony overlooking the vineyards. Kelly was escorted by her father as was Kelsey by hers. Kelsey’s sister officiated while they stood in front of a hand-crafted hexagon arch that Kelsey’s mother made – lit with lanterns and string bulb lights. “A funny moment was when my groomsman had to speak up and say “are you forgetting something” while holding the rings as our officiate accidentally forgot to announce that part of the ceremony.” The ceremony was also live streamed for friends and family who were not able to attend in person.
One of the couple’s favorite parts of their big day was that “we only had very close friends and immediate family attend. We didn’t have to distract ourselves from enjoying each moment of the wedding while greeting everyone when we all were together.” Their guests had the time of their lives dancing all night long outside under the stars. “We both often say how we would love to do that day over and over again because of how utterly perfect it was – the food, the wine, the atmosphere and the time of our lives!”

A private last dance is a must – we had a friend stay back to record and we still watch this moment back and I cry because of the beauty and love that you see. Just being in that moment made the whole world stop and just stand still, just for us. Weddings can feel like a whirlwind of people, but doing something just for the two of you made it all worthwhile,” the couple shared.

THE PROPOSAL
Natalie and Jacob met on a dating app at the beginning of COVID in 2020. They had many Facetime dates and then had their first official date in Outer Banks, North Carolina. “A lot of people would think this is crazy, but I guess it was worth it looking back now. Pretty much every date that summer and fall we went hiking, since it was outdoors and it was still risky to go to restaurants or do any indoor activities. We probably did all the popular hikes within a two-hour drive of the DMV area.”
On a November day in 2024, Natalie started off her day with her two sisters to go get their nails done. When they came home there was a puzzle piece with a clue on it sitting on the coffee table. “Funny thing is, I completely didn’t notice it because I was looking for our puppy, Tater, who wasn’t in his crate (Jake had taken him so that he could be at the proposal). My sisters had to pick up the puzzle piece and shove it in my face for me to notice. From here, I knew it was happening so they said I had an hour to get ready.” Jake set up clues at different destinations that they had
previous dates at and there was a different family member/friend at each location with the next clue. The final clue ended at the sculpture garden in D.C. Each clue was the shape of a puzzle piece and when all the puzzle pieces were put together, it spelled out ‘will you marry me?’ Everyone celebrated at Fogo de Chao afterwards.
THE WEDDING
Ninety guests, along with a eight-person bridal party, helped the couple celebrate their August wedding at Belmont Country Club. “We fell in love with the venue! We loved how the manor house was separate from the country club area so it felt like its own separate venue. Everything from the views and the outdoor space, to the cocktail hour and reception areas were everything we were looking for. They were super easy to work with and set up everything perfectly. Plus the location felt secluded, away from the busy noise of highways while still close to the airport for our out of town guests.”
“We had a simple, traditional outdoor ceremony and couldn’t have asked for better weather.” The background was perfect as the couple had a live wedding painter capture their first look.
The couple also had a Paebaek Ceremony, a more modern version of a traditional Korean ceremony. Traditionally this ceremony is intended to formally accept the bride into the groom’s family and celebrates the union of families and culture. A Korean traditional outfit worn is known as a Hanbok.
One of the bride’s favorite things about the wedding was DIYing a bunch of the details and favors including matchbooks, koozies, sip-n-solve crossword puzzle, custom sunglasses, all the signage including the welcome mirror, seating chart and invitations. “We also designed custom shirts and had a tshirt toss instead of a bouquet toss during the reception.

Book your vendors early and that takes away a lot of the stress. I love planning parties and hosting events so this was the ultimate party that I really enjoyed planning,” the bride shares.

As fate would have it, Tori and Rob met on Hinge in April 2023, and during their first date realized they were living parallel lifes nearly their entire lives. “We both went to the same high school in Ashburn, and Rob played football with my brother, so I attended all of Rob’s high school games. We both went to nearby colleges in Southern Virginia, separated by 4 years, and post-college we both lived in Arlington, frequenting many of the same places.
“When we started dating, we both realized soon into our relationship that we both had found our person.”
A year and a half after meeting, Rob proposed to Tori at home in a private setting with rose petals everywhere. Shortly after, Rob had arranged for friends and family to celebrate the big day together at a Loudoun winery.
THE WEDDING
One hundred and sixty guests, and an eight-person bridal party, helped the couple celebrate their October wedding at Shadow Creek. “It’s hard to beat the Western Loudoun County charm and we’re both from the area.
Of the venues we looked at, Shadow Creek has the best space for the ceremony and reception and their team was top notch.” The ceremony space came together better than they had hoped for with the flower arch, ribbons lining the rows, and the perfect backdrop, the Purcellville landscape.
Identifying the theme and figuring out creative ways to make it come to life were one of the couple’s favorite things about their big day. The theme ‘Thank you for being a part of our story’ lending to the individualized bookmarks for place settings, handmade book wall backdrop, library card seating chart, and table “Chapter” numbers with a famous love quotes from books. “By far the most challenging was designing, building, and transporting the 7’ by 6’ book wall we built ourselves.”
A Pittsburgh tradition from the bride’s side of the family was the cookie table, filled with hundreds of homemade cookies. The bride’s mother and family spent hours baking in preparation.
“We highly recommend a private last dance together to finish the night before your send off. It gave us a final, intimate moment before the end of the big day before heading to the after party. It also makes for great photos to end the night.”

There’s nothing so romantic as a proposal in a vineyard. Known as DC’s Wine Country®, Loudoun is home to more than 50 wineries and its winemakers have been crafting the beverage for 40 years now. Here, tasting rooms are in a stunning range of settings from Blue Ridge Mountain slopes to vinecrossed river valleys and historic farms –all perfect places to pop the question. On top of superb vintages and tastings, romantic winery experiences include classes with experts, picnics in the vines, live concerts, food pairings with guest chefs and overnight stays either on property or in nearby towns and villages. We’ll toast to that.

Create the perfect experience with friends and family on one of our craft beverage trails. Beer lovers can tackle the LoCo Ale Trail, coffee lovers can stroll through Leesburg’s Coffee Corridor and wine aficionados can take winery or brewery tours with Vino Virginia, Vineyard
Voyages or Cork & Keg Tours. Love beer and wine? Visit places like Harvest Gap Brewing, which offer both beverages.
There’s also plenty of adrenaline action for friends coming to town. The new 810 Entertainment offers drinks, bites, bowling, billiards, games, and all-around good vibes. Channel your medieval warrior at the axe-throwing bar Axes and Os in Sterling. If it’s adrenaline action you want, try zip lining at Harpers Ferry Adventure Center, home to lively beer hall Harpers Ferry Brewing Company.
Alternatively, relax and pamper yourself at one of our superb spas or chic restaurants. King Spa is a multi-story complex with saunas, steam rooms and spectacular rooftop pools. For sweet tooths, The Conche at the Village at Leesburg is a chocolate-themed restaurant and cocktail bar with outdoor seating. Don’t miss the (literally) smoking Soot & Rye cocktail and remember to take a box of artisanal handcrafted chocolates home.
If it’s history you want, enjoy the four-course tasting menu at the historic Red Fox Inn & Tavern in Middleburg – a place Jackie O once frequented. For a touch of French, book a long table at classy Parisian-style bistro Brasserie Royale.

Restaurants for those all-important, pre-wedding dinners run the gamut from fine dining to low key. West End Wine Bar & Pub is an elegant farmto-table in a century-old building overlooking a golf course. Lost Fox Hideaway at One Loudoun is a sleek neighborhood gastropub overlooking the plaza above City Tap Loudoun. If you prefer something more local with a great atmosphere, Magnolias at the Mill in Purcellville is a beloved farm-to-table gem in a restored grain mill while Shutters on King is an elegant new American restaurant in a historic downtown Leesburg building. For a more lively scene, Lark Brewing on Route 15 near Aldie has ample outdoor space, a firepit and a courtyard all fronting an elegant open-plan

Forget the big box stores – Loudoun is perfect for quirky local gifts and accessories. You can purchase wine, beer, whiskey, bread, cheese, jams and handcrafted goods from a myriad of wineries, breweries, farm stores and farmers’ markets, all part of the #TakeLoudounHome initiative to inspire and promote local artists and artisans. Our historic downtowns meanwhile, are retail destinations too, with a slate of chic stores and trendy boutiques selling fashionable home décor and upscale gifts and accessories. Don’t miss Middleburg’s Washington Street and Leesburg’s King Street, two leading independent retail thoroughfares, the latter home to the Very Virginia Shop, which sells all Virginiamade products.
