I.
God’s general will. Matthew 7:21 1) God’s will is to love. Matthew 22:37-40 and John 13:34-35 2) God’s will is to be obedient. Micah 6:8 and James 1:22 3) God’s will is to witness. Matthew 28:19-20 and Acts 1:8 4) God’s will is for all to be saved. 2 Peter 3:9
II.
God’s specific will. 1) Discern God’s will through prayer. 2) Discern God’s will through study. Psalms 119:105 3) Discern God’s will through friends. 4) Discern God’s will through counselors/mentors. 5) Discern God’s will be knowing your gifts, talents, and experiences. 6) Be patient. 7) Listen to reason. (Proverbs 3:5-6) 8) Listen to your heart.
III.
God’s will for us. 1) To be in relationship with Him. Matthew 7:22-23 2) To accept the gifts of His salvation and love. John 3:16-17
Prayer of Confession Most merciful God, we confess that we have sinned against you in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done, and by what we have left undone. We have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We are truly sorry and we humbly repent. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us and forgive us; that we may delight in your will, and walk in your ways, to the glory of your Name. Amen.
