You Are Not Alone Dr. Chris Montgomery John 14:15-21 | May 10, 2026

(John 14:15-21) “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. No, I will not abandon you as orphans—I will come to you. Soon the world will no longer see me, but you will see me. Since I live, you also will live. When I am raised to life again, you will know that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. Those who accept my commandments and obey them are the ones who love me. And because they love me, my Father will love them. And I will love them and reveal myself to each of them.”

(1 Corinthians 3:16-17) Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? (Romans 8:11) If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you. (Galatians 2:20) I live, no longer I, but Christ lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Ezekiel 36:27) And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations. 1. We move from orphan to heir through the gift of the Holy Spirit. 2. The Holy Spirit is called the advocate that will never leave us. 3. The Holy Spirit advocates for the truth in us. 4. The truth in us that the Holy Spirit advocates for is: that you cannot separate love from obedience. 5. Because I’m deeply loved by God, the way I love Him back is through obedience. 6. We always show something by doing something.
