Green Streets are one of the unique features that make Round Mountain such a thoughtfully designed community. Created to provide additional green space amenity throughout the villages, Green Streets offer a more open, landscaped street environment that feels calmer, greener and connected.
So, what exactly is a Green Street?
Unlike a standard street, a Green Street includes a widened verge on one side, creating a generous area for landscaping, larger canopy trees and a shared pedestrian pathway. The result is a beautiful green edge that enhances the streetscape, supports walkability and helps create a more village-like character.
A greener outlook
Homes that front or back onto a Green Street enjoy a landscaped green edge, rather than adjoining another property or standard street. This creates a greater sense of openness and a more attractive setting for everyday living.
Cooler, shadier streets
The widened verge allows more space for street trees to grow into large, shady canopy trees over time, while also making room for additional planting. Together, these elements help reduce the Urban Heat Island effect and support increased biodiversity throughout Round Mountain.
A more walkable neighbourhood
Each Green Street includes a minimum 2.5 metre wide shared pedestrian pathway, creating a pleasant route for residents walking or cycling to nearby destinations, including the future Foothills development and the Neighbourhood Recreation Park in South Village.
A safer, more enjoyable pedestrian journey
On Green Streets, lots that back directly onto the widened verge have their driveway access, front door and letterbox located on the street behind. This removes driveway crossovers from one side of the Green Street, creating a more continuous and uninterrupted pedestrian experience. The result is a safer, calmer and more enjoyable journey for people moving through the neighbourhood.

Building on a Green Street
Home designs on Green Street lots are required to respond to their unique position within the community. Because these lots contribute directly to the character, safety and presentation of the Green Street, there are additional design requirements that apply. Green Street homes should be designed with the relationship to the street in mind. This may include more considered rear elevations, opportunities to connect indoor and outdoor living spaces, and design responses that take advantage of the landscaped green edge.

Fencing
on a Green Street
To invite the beauty of the Green Street into your home, fencing along the rear boundary of Green Street allotments will be a 1.8 metre high aluminium batten fence, with 50% transparency, in Basalt colour.
This is the same fence type used on corner allotments, along pedestrian links and adjacent to open space areas, helping create a consistent and attractive streetscape throughout the community.
The transparent batten design has been carefully selected to maintain privacy while also allowing a visual connection to the landscaped green street beyond.
