One of the most important aspects of constructing a luxury, multimillion-dollar residential project like the River Homes is ensuring innovative building solutions are developed in order to deliver the high-end finishes promised to prospective homeowners. R: What is your favourite feature of the homes? M: My favourite features are the internal timber stairs and the floor to ceiling timber feature battening. They both lead your eye upwards and show off the soaring ceilings in the homes. R: Did your team experience any major challenges during the building process? M: We didn’t have any major challenges. Quality control measures were implemented throughout the build to ensure that each aspect met the required standards. To ensure consistency throughout the build, a large amount of stock, in particular the timber, was sent back to suppliers where required to ensure they met the high-quality standards we were seeking. Mike: One of the things our team enjoyed about working on this project was working with the same team we worked with on the award-winning Newport project at Hamilton Reach. It was great to continue the relationship with Rothelowman architects and Frasers Property – both have exacting standards and we enjoyed working together to ensure the outcome was just as the two teams had expected. R: We’ve been told there was a lot of effort put into the little details when building the homes, can you tell us about some of those? M: Attention to detail was key in delivering a luxury finish in the River Homes. Something that became a focus was the tiling. All tiling was carefully mapped out so that the floors, walls and feature tiles all lined up perfectly, the drains were always centred within floor tiles and service points were hidden, yet accessible. Part of our brief was also to make sure the Blackbutt timber used throughout the home all matched – on the stairs, under the kitchen bench and in the feature balustrading. R: You’re a Hamilton local, what do you like most about living in the suburb? M: Hamilton is a great place to live as it’s close to the city and the airport. The upgraded Kingsford Smith Drive River Walk is also great for cycling and walking and there’s a variety of places to eat out, including at Portside Wharf. James Street and Newstead are also easy to access for more dining options.

N E W SPORT ING HUB SE RVES UP AN ACE. GAME, SET AND MATCH TO NORTHSHORE TENNIS CENTRE.
Northshore Tennis Centre hoisted the nets and turned on the floodlights in mid-January with residents raising a “racquet” at Hamilton’s newest sporting hub ever since. Six brand-new pop-up tennis courts and an accompanying clubhouse and pro shop have welcomed players of all ages and abilities, drawn by state-of-the-art facilities and an enviable riverfront location. Operations Manager Damian Vejnovic said Northshore Tennis Centre has welcomed a mix of residents, workers from nearby businesses and local school students since opening. “Everyone in the area was pretty excited to see it open and to see all the activity and the programs that have started here since,” Damian said. Boosting the new centre’s popularity is its simple, online booking platform that allows both members and casual players to reserve courts. “Once you get to the courts you enter a PIN code, the gates will open for you and if it’s night-time, the lights will automatically come on too then turn off when your booking is done,” Damian explained. In addition to casual bookings, Northshore Tennis Centre hosts adult and junior Super League competitions on a Saturday afternoon and Wednesday evening, adult social fixtures on Monday evenings and private lessons throughout the week. It plans to launch Tennis Australia’s Hot Shots program for children aged three to 10 years and stage school holiday clinics as 2019 progresses. Also planned are more coaching opportunities, including group lessons, a club championships competition, theme days and the introduction of Cardio Tennis fitness classes.

Commit to fit in 2019 and be rewarded with one of the best views in Brisbane. The new Kingsford Smith Drive River Walk is now open with the scenic stretch fast cementing itself as the location of choice for residents taking an early morning stroll, tackling a post-work workout or setting off on a weekend bike ride. Stretching for 1.2kms from Brett’s Wharf in the east to Cameron Rocks Reserve in the west, the landmark River Walk is a standout feature of the Kingsford Smith Drive upgrade. Built out over the Brisbane River, the River Walk incorporates both a dedicated two-metre wide pedestrian path as well as a separate three-metre wide, two-way cycle path. Directional and guidance signs and line-marking separating cyclists and pedestrians ensure everyone can safely enjoy the River Walk. Shaded rest areas with river-facing bench seats, water stations and tropical garden beds provide the perfect motivation to stretch muscles, catch your breath or just enjoy the view. R: How important is community to you? S: A sense of community is extremely important for good health and wellbeing; for people to feel connection without intrusion. R: Tell us about the regular coffee catch-ups you organise for neighbours. S: A few of us have started a Hamilton Reach residents catch-up, not only for coffee mornings but other activities, too. Our next plan is for a wine and cheese evening around the pool. Other ideas we have are for a social game of tennis at the nearby courts, long lazy afternoon picnics, lunch in the park, bocce and more coffee catch-ups! R: What is your favourite spot to relax and why? S: Under the trees in the park with a lazy breeze watching the Realm: What prompted you to move to Hamilton Reach?

Drain the potatoes and, wearing kitchen gloves, peel and discard their skin while they are still hot. 3. Push the potatoes through a mouli or ricer while they are still hot. Gently fold in the egg yolks, flour, salt, pepper and nutmeg until combined. 4. Turn the dough out on to a floured surface and shape into a ball. Wrap it in cling wrap and rest in the fridge for 30 minutes. 5. Place a double layer of cling wrap along a bench or table and position dough on top. Hamilton Reach residents welcomed the advent of cooler autumn nights with an indulgent evening of whisky and wine tastings in May. Peter Tamblyn, who runs independent bottle shop Sense of Taste at Portside Wharf, shared a carefully curated selection of boutique wines and exquisite whiskies with residents eager to learn more. The remarkable drops were paired with a selection of premium cheeses from Le Fromage Yard, sparkling conversation and warm, neighbourly connections.
