Hazardous material clean-up to commence at the two towers on the corner of Elgin and Nicholson Streets Carlton The removal of hazardous material is necessary to make the two towers safe for demolition. Qualified contractors will be starting clean up works within the buildings in September, continuing into October. What is happening? 

The towers are being prepared for demolition. We will start works with the removal of hazardous materials from inside the buildings.

These works are highly specialised. The removalist team will take around a month making the site safe.

Hazardous material is common in older buildings and will be removed safely by licensed contractors.

When will this work happen? During September and October 2024. All work will be safely contained inside the fenced construction area.

Safety management plans will be in place and works will take place inside the fenced site.

What will you see and hear? 

A crew of qualified contractors will be on site wearing safety gear and using a range of equipment and tools.
