Budget money for buses, schools Brodie Cowburn brodie@baysidenews.com.au EXTRA bus services will be scheduled across Frankston, with money for the expansion set aside in the state government’s annual budget. The 2026/2027 budget was handed down last week. Part of the funding allocated for buses will be spent in Frankston. Carrum MP Sonya Kilkenny wrote on
social media that “in a big win for our community, we’re getting a bus service to link Carrum Downs and Skye with the Karingal Hub Shopping Centre.” “Thank you to everyone who’s added their voice to this campaign. The 777 bus will soon operate between Carrum Downs and Skye and Seaford and Karingal Hub,” she said. Frankston MP Paul Edbrooke said that local buses will now also operate more often. “The state budget 2026/27 is deliver-
ing for Frankston with increased weekend frequencies for services between Carrum and Frankston (Route 833) and the combined/extended Karingal to Seaford via Carrum Downs/Skye service (Routes 777 and 778) to get more people where they need to go,” Edbrooke said. “More bus services and better connectivity to shops, jobs and services while helping people with the cost of living with free public transport extended for the month of May and then half price for the remainder of

2026.” The 2026/26 Victorian Budget includes almost $100 million for statewide bus network upgrades, but the state government has been criticised for overlooking the Mornington Peninsula. Committee for Frankston and Mornington Peninsula CEO Josh Sinclair said the peninsula will see no benefits from the new investment. “Despite 82 percent of the Mornington Peninsula Shire having no access to public transport, the Victorian govern-
