Meet Chrissie She/Her
Library Engagement and Innovation Lead For Chrissie, a love of libraries began long before she ever imagined they would become her career. Growing up, she spent time at Taree Library, where she remembers the smell of the building, the librarians who encouraged her reading and the joy of discovering books like The Muddle-headed Wombat. Those memories stayed with her and eventually led her to librarianship. Straight out of university, Chrissie became a Children’s Librarian at the old Rosebud Library. She loved the variety of people she met and the wonderfully unpredictable questions they brought with them. But it was the children who captured her heart. Storytime, picture books and the simple magic of watching young readers discover a story remain some of her favourite parts of library life. She also loved choosing books for the collection, appreciating children’s literature as both storytelling and art.
Chrissie’s passion has grown into something even bigger: a belief that libraries can genuinely change people’s lives. For Chrissie, the books matter enormously, but so do the people who walk through the doors. Libraries create connection, curiosity and a sense of belonging, and she is proud to play a part in that. Her love of literature is also behind her enthusiasm for hosting literary events, from Writers Festival events to live-streamed literary awards. She enjoys hearing authors talk about their creative process and exploring how great literature can help us understand ourselves, our culture and the world around us. Most of all, she loves bringing people together through a shared love of books. Away from the library, Chrissie’s favourite moments are spent with her husband and three sons, particularly skiing as a family. She also loves beaches, hiking and being outdoors. And then there’s the dinosaur costume. Chrissie is currently on a mission to fill her dress-up box, , having become a backup dancer in the library’s viral Bookaroke social media reels-proof that a career in libraries is anything but predictable.

The aim is for this group to represent the best of Frankston’s literary talent adding to our vibrant arts scene.
