Inclusion Action Plan 2026 to

2030

About this booklet

This booklet is from Frankston City Council.

When we use the word we, it means Council.

This is an Easy Read booklet.

Easy Read uses simple words and pictures.

You might not know some words.

We add a star before and after *hard words* the first time we use them.

Then we tell you what the words mean.

You can ask someone to help you read and understand this booklet.

What we do

We help look after the Frankston City area.

We listen to people in the community to make Frankston City a good place to live.

We make decisions about local services and how money is spent.

Local services can be

● rubbish collection and recycling

● caring for parks, playgrounds and roads

● libraries and community centres

● support for families, children and older people.

We help people in the community be included.

We make sure everyone can use our services.

We help make sure other people, places and businesses include everyone.

We help pay for services or projects run by other groups in the community.

We *advocate* to other groups or government to support local people.

Advocate means we help people ask for and get the things they need.

About our plan

We have an *Inclusion Action Plan*.

The Inclusion Action Plan will make sure everyone is included.

Inclusion means everyone

● is welcome

● is respected

● has what they need

● can be part of everything.

In this booklet we call it the plan.

The plan says what we will do in the next 4 years to include people.

We also spoke to people who work at Council. 2026 2030

To help us make the plan, we spoke to people who

● are over 65 years old

● have disabilities

● look after someone older or with disabilities

● speak different languages and are from different cultures

● are *LGBTQIA+*

– this means gay, lesbian, bi-sexual, transgender, queer or questioning, intersex and other gender identities and sexual preferences.

What the plan says

The plan has 3 goals.

1. Good services

We will have good services that are inclusive and *accessible* for everyone.

Accessible means places and things are easy for everyone to use.

We will help people to be part of community life.

To make sure this happens we will

● work with groups and organisations to include people from different communities

● make information easy to understand and make services easy to use.

To make sure this happens we will also

● help people from different backgrounds find and use our services

● use pictures and stories about different people in our information and communications

● have more community events and celebrations that everyone can come to and enjoy

● have more events that celebrate our *diverse* community – diverse means lots of differences.

2. Work with others

We will work with others in Council and in the community to make inclusion better.

To make sure this happens we will

● be leaders and help community groups to be inclusive

● work with more local groups

● talk to governments and organisations to – help change rules

– ask for money to make systems better for everyone.

3. Council staff are inclusive

We will make sure

● the way we work is inclusive

● staff are trained well

● we have the right tools and information to include everyone.

To make sure this happens we will

● give everyone a fair chance to apply to work at Council

● train staff and help them learn about inclusion

● make our services, buildings and information easier for everyone to use.

Who will make the plan happen?

Different people at Council will make sure the work in the plan happens.

Some work will be done by everyone at Council.

Some work will be done by people or teams.

Some work will support all groups in the plan.

Some work will be done for 1 or more groups in the plan.
