Community celebrates Fourth of July with annual Jam on Sloss Lake

The annual Jam on Sloss Lake included a car show by Cotton Flats Cruisers, access to the

splash pad and inflatables, food vendors, a variety of musical entertainment offerings (Purpose

gospel group, KGB – Kerry Gilbert Band, Rewind and Shenandoah) and a fireworks show

after Shenanodah ished playing.

Mississippi State University names local Stephen D. Lee scholar

By Staff Reports Bailey Bolton, of Red Bay, Ala., was recognized as a Stephen D. Lee Scholar during Mississippi State University’s spring commencement exer-

cises. Bolton is one of 113 students who attained this honor among nearly 3,500 spring graduates. Stephen D. Lee Scholars have achieved a cumulative 4.0 grade

point average during their college careers. Bolton, who studied Elementary Education, earned a Bachelor of Science degree from MSU’s College of Education.

Community Spirit Bank announces promotion By Staff Reports Community Spirit Bank has announced the promotion of Jessica Horton to chief compliance and BSA officer. Horton, with nineteen years of financial industry experience, now joins the bank’s executive management team, moving from her previous role as vice president/compliance and BSA officer. A native of Red Bay, Horton is a graduate of Belmont High School.

In 2013, she began working on her additional compliance certifications, obtaining her Certified BSA/AML Professional status. In 2014, she received her specialty certification as a Certified Community Bank Compliance Officer. Horton studied at the Barret Graduate School of Banking in Memphis, Tenn., graduating in 2016. Previous recognition includes being the 2022 recipient of the Spirit of CSB award, a peer-nomi-

nated accolade driven by the bank’s team. “On behalf of the officers, directors and employees of Community Spirit Bank, I congratulate Jessica Horton on the promotion to Chief Compliance Officer, which was approved at our June board of directors meeting,” said CSB president and CEO, Brad M.
