MONDAY 09 MARCH 2026
09:30 - 15:30

We are delighted to host the IAPS U13 Boys’ National Finals at Framlingham College today.
We extend a warm welcome to all schools and supporting parents. Hockey goes from strength to strength here at the College, with a number of players currently training with the England Development squads and we are delighted to have so many players here today from so many schools, to share in our love for the game.
The tournament today is to be enjoyed, first and foremost. We have no doubt that we will see some fantastic hockey, but as importantly, some great team spirit, mutual support and camaraderie. Sport has the magic to bring people together and we hope that today can be a celebration of exactly that.
Our thanks go to our Grounds, Catering and Domestic staff for supporting and preparing today’s event as well as to Mr Andy Northcote, Head of Prep School PE & Games, for overseeing its organisation. A special mention to all the umpires, support staff and parents for helping to capture the magic of an IAPS National Final event.
Mr Northcote, our Director of Sport, Mr Chris Gange and our Head of Hockey, Mrs Lisa Letchford will be available throughout the day to answer any of your queries about the tournament or about hockey at Framlingham College.
Have a wonderful day.
Louise North Simon Roche PRINCIPAL HEAD OF THE PREP SCHOOL

First and foremost, sport is about participation and enjoyment. Sport is an incredibly important part of the personal development of children.
Thanks to our eager and enthusiastic membership, over 22,000 children take part in the IAPS Sport programme every year. With 22 sports to choose from and over 170 events organised annually, there are plenty of opportunities for our member schools to get involved in.
Whether this is your first time at an IAPS event, or you have been entering them for many years, we hope you enjoy the competition and good luck!

We are delighted to welcome spectators to attend IAPS events. As a spectator/parent you have a responsibility to:
1. Be a positive role model and lead by example. Children are involved in sport for their enjoyment and without undue spectator pressure.
2. Encourage children to play by the rules and respect the officials.
3. Always respect the officials and their decisions. Video evidence will not be accepted in any cases to dispute decisions.
4. Always respect the coaches and their decisions. They give their time, energy and experience to coach your children.
5. Refrain from any form of bad language or poor behaviour towards players, officials and fellow spectators.
6. Be friendly and respectful to the opposition.
7. Teach children that effort and teamwork are as important as victory so that the result of each game is accepted without undue disappointment.
8. Turn defeat into victory by helping children work towards skill improvement and a positive sporting attitude.
9. Be aware that IAPS events have comprehensive safeguarding policies and procedures, available on our website: https://iaps.uk/sports/documents-links.html
IAPS wants all competitions to run without any negative incidents. Excitement and emotions can run high at events, not least amongst the supporters. IAPS believes that the welfare and wellbeing of all children (young people under the age of 18) and adults at risk attending an IAPS event is of the highest conern. All such persons have the right to safety and protection and any suspicions,concerns or allegations of harm will be taken seriously and will be dealt with swiftly and appropriately.
IAPS expects all adults who are engaged with the delivery of sports events to fully comply with safeguarding procedures as laid out in the IAPS Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, and the KCSiE document. These are available on our website.
IAPS expects all coaches present to be DBS checked and have received relevant safeguarding training at their school/club.
IAPS expects that all adults attending events have read the IAPS code of conduct, photo policy and antibullying policy. These are available to read and download from our website.

Taking A Penalty Shoot-out (Shuffles)
12.1 the goalkeeper/defending player starts on or behind the goal-line between the goal posts;
12.2 the ball is placed 3 metres outside the circle opposite the centre of the goal (it is recommended a cone or marker is placed here);
12.3 an attacker stands behind but near the ball;
12.4 the Umpire blows the whistle to start time;
12.5 an official at the technical table starts the clock or the umpires time this;
12.6 the attacker and the goalkeeper/defending player may then move in any direction; 12.7 the shoot-out (shuffles) is completed when:
12.7.1 8 seconds has elapsed since the starting signal;

12.7.2 a goal is scored;

Players must not play at any high ball with the stick held at above shoulder heigh unless they are attempting to prevent a goal from being scored (i.e. to defend a shot on goal). The shot must be on target!
We will be centrally timing the tournament and doing our best to keep to the schedule. While there may be moments when the day feels as though it has slowed slightly, this is intentional - allowing time for coaching, rest, and for pupils to enjoy the social side of the event whilst soaking up the atmosphere.
Results will be published live using SOCS. Follow the QR codes provided along with the Fowler Pavilion and pitch side screens.
