The official beginning of spring is a highly anticipated day among people who can’t wait to put away their winter coats & soak up some warm sunlight. According to the Old Farmer’s Almanac, on the spring equinox, which is sometimes referred to as the “vernal equinox” or the “March equinox,” the sun crosses the celestial equator going south to north. As the sun passes overhead on the equinox, the tilt of Earth is zero relative to the sun. That means that the planet’s axis neither points toward or away from the sun.

MEHERRIN RIVER REGIONAL JAIL The Meherrin River Regional Jail is a state‐ of‐the‐art adult detention center. The main facility, located in Alberta, VA, opened on July 1, 2012 and is a 697‐bed facility which houses both male and female inmates. The satellite facility, located in Boydton, VA, opened on January 1, 2013 and is an 80‐bed facility and also houses both male and female inmates. The Jail is an Equal Opportunity Employer and employs approximately 189 people, which has created much needed jobs for the area. The Jail offers an outstanding benefits package to include: paid holidays, retirement, life insurance, health insurance, and MORE!
