parasites,” said Benham. “It was interesting.” Benham says that his favorite aspect of the work is interacting with the clientele, and the COVID-19 pandemic has all but eliminated that part of the job. “The animals are fine and most of the pets are very pleasant,” said Benham, “but I like interacting with and building rapport with the clientele.” Cornerstone primarily sees small animals and some small, pocket pets, such as gerbils, chinchillas, turtles, hamsters and other small animals. Though not set up to see cattle on site, Benham says that they can accommodate a gentle horse. Snakes, however, are not his favorite. “Personally, I just have a hesitation, a very strong hesitation, for dealing with snakes,” Benham said. “Reptiles in general I don’t mind, if they’ve got legs. But, honestly, I have a phobia with snakes, and I’m not going to fight that phobia.” Benham says that he and his staff try to be as sincere and as truthful as possible with clientele. Cornerstone, when needed, will refer patients to other entities if they are more equipped to handle the customer’s needs. “We don’t try to keep them here and waste time and their money,” said Benham. “We’ve always tried to work with specialists and will continue to do that. If it’s a service that we can provide, but we’re unsure of the technicalities, I’ve been known to call the specialist, and they’re really good about advising me and guiding me through. We’ll do what we can for the public, but if it’s something we’re really not qualified for, we will tell the customer and send them where we feel like they need to go for their service, and some clinics don’t do that.” 47

Skin That Bear Two men went bear hunting. While one stayed in the cabin, the other went out looking for a bear. He soon found a huge bear, shot at it but only wounded it. The enraged bear charged toward him, he dropped his rifle and started running for the cabin as fast as he could. He ran pretty fast but the bear was just a little faster and gained on him with every step. Just as he reached the open cabin door, he tripped and fell flat. Too close behind to stop, the bear tripped over him and went rolling into the cabin. The man jumped up, closed the cabin door and yelled to his friend inside, “You skin this one while I go and get another!”
