In2016,IwentonNetflixlookingforanewshowtowatch,andwhilelooking,Ifound oneofthebestshowstoexist.Theshowiscalled Stranger Things. ItisoneofthefirstNetflix originalseriesbasedinthe80’s,andtheprimaryplotisaboutagroupofkidsfacingunlikely eventshappeningintheirtown.Theseweirdinstancesaresupernaturaleventsthatevolveinto onelargeproblem.Itbecameahitaroundtheworld,combiningfriendship,love,comedy, suspense,andalittlebitofhorrorinoneshow.StrangerThingsdevelopedintooneofthemost popularNetflixseriesandleftalastingimpactonviewersaroundtheworld.
TheshowissetinHawkins,Indiana,inthe80’s,whereagroupofkidsareobsessedwith agamecalled Dungeons and Dragons. Everynightafterplayingthegame,thekidsbikehome. Onecharacter,calledWill,facesasupernaturalbeing,whichlaterontakeshimintoadimension calledtheUpsideDown.Later, ineachepisodeandeachseason,theshowfollowsagroupof friendswhoaretryingtounderstandwhatishappeningandwhy.Astheseriesgoeson,thereare newcharactersaddedthatmaketheplotgrowandbecomemoreinteresting.Therearefight scenesagainstthesesupernaturalbeings,emotionalscenes,andcomedicscenes.Itdoesbecome abitfrighteningineachseason,buttheheartoftheshowstaysthesame;it'sjustabunchof friendsthatdon'tgiveuponeachotherandcareabouteachotherlikefamily Ilovethisconcept abouttheshowthemostbecauseitshowsthatfriendscangrowcloser, tothepointwherethey arelikefamily- tothepointwhereyouwillfightanddoeverythingforthemtokeepthemsafe andwell.
Anotherthingthatinterestsmeinthisshowisalltheyoung,talentedactors,especially MillieBobbyBrown.Intheshow,sheplaysacharactercalledElevenwhohaspsychokineticand telepathicpowers,whichmeansshecanmakeobjectsmoveusinghermind.Elevenisoneofthe onlypeopleintheshowwhocanfightsupernaturalbeings.MillieBobbyBrownfirststarredin the showwhenshewas12yearsold,andshedeliveresaperformancethatalwaysfeelsnatural andconnected. Sheknowshowtoperformandshowemotioninheractinginthisshow,which
helpedmefeelmoreconnectedtowhatwashappeningintheshowandfeelwhatshewas feeling. Duetoherchildhoodtrauma,environmentalchanges,tryingtofindherself,andfitin, sheisoneofthemostrelatablecharacters.Thechemistrybetweenherandhercastmembers makesyoubelievethatthefriendshipisreal,andaddsmoreemotiontohardmomentsinthe show MillieBobbyBrown'sactingasElevenisoneoftheotherreasonswhyIlovethisshowso much;itmakesyouwanttostayandcontinuewatching.
How Stranger Things iswrittenissomethingIlovesomuch.TheDufferBrothers,who arethewritersoftheshow,knewhowtobalancesuspense,horror,comedy,love,character development,friends,andfamilyinsuchanamazingway.Fromthestartoftheshow,theDuffer Brothersplannedthatthisshowwouldbearound5or6seasonslong;meaningtheywrotethe wholeshowaround2014.Ineachseason,thesituationsintheHawkingsbecomemoreintense, includingmoresupernaturalbeings,newdimensions,plottwists,newlocations,etc.Laterin eachseason,wefindoutmoreabouttheupsidedownandwhatitisconnectedto,andintheend oftheshow,allofitlinesupandconnectsinonewayoranother.Butotherthanthesupernatural elements,theDufferBrothersreallyshowhowtomixstorytellingwithstrongcharactersand strongemotions,whichaddsmorelayerstotheseries.SincethestorytellingbyDufferbrothers was good,itkeptmeandfansaroundtheworldwantingmore.IbelievethattheDufferBrothers basingthisshowinthe80’sgivesyouadifferentfeeling,itmakesyouwanttogobackintime andbeplacedinthepast.Inall,I lovehowtheDufferBrothersbasedthisshowinthe80’s, whichgaveitanostalgicfeelingbutalsolovehowinterestingitwaswithalltheplottwists.
Intheend, Stranger Things ismorethanashow,especiallytome.Itwasmorethana showaboutsupernaturalbeingsordimensions;itwasashowthatbroughtlove,comedy, challenges,andemotions.Ilovethisshowbecauseofhowfunnyitisandthebondsthegroupof kidshave.IfeellikeIcanrelatebecauseIhaveafriendgroupwhereweloveandbondwith eachother,thatarealwaystogether,andarealwaysthereforeachother Stranger Things will foreverhaveanimpactonNetflixandtheworld.Sowiththisbeingsaid, Stranger Things isa
seriesyoushouldwatchifyouwantsomethingthathas80’snostalgia,friendgroups, supernaturaldimensionsandbeings,love,family,andsomuchmore;thisistheshowforyou.
